DrScandalous
Last I checked it's still an alpha and there's STILL a disclaimer present when you buy it.... TLDR; slow your roll, killa. it's early in the game, my friend.

TLDR; slow your roll, killa. it's early in the game, my friend. i'll have to disagree with you, isnt early at all, if they had just put the mod in a new engine we would have more of a game than we do now. Rocket clearly have no clue of what's he doing, almost 2 years of development (he left the mod development to work on the standalone exactly 1 year and 9 months ago) and we have more issues than the arma 2 mod, on the shitty engine it runs. Each month that passes and i see no improvement on the most basic mechanics, more i lose faith in this game and more i'm sure that it was clearly a cashgrab. Hell, they even managed to screw up the things that were fine, like bullet dispersion and mouse acceleration, they're so clueless that they couldnt port the arma 2/3 system to the game, so they put in a shitty arcadey accuracy simulation where a handguard magically improves your accuracy by almost 200%. And now rocket's abandoning the boat, best move he could make, he already made all the money he could off DayZ's hype. Let's hope this H1Z1 game doesnt turn out to be a shitty game, at least it will be free, and not a cash grab disguised as a game with potential. From my understanding, the standalone took " so long to get to alpha" because they made the "new" engine to remove all the client server things arma 2 and 3 have. And failed at it. Everything is still to each individual client.

TLDR; slow your roll, killa. it's early in the game, my friend. Seriously? He's been working on it for years and it's still not a fully fledged game on release - Alpha is for bug testing, you're not supposed to wait for features. He failed to recreate a game he's made before. He says stupid shit all the time too like how he's going to be leaving the development team to make new games, doesn't he realise nobody's going to buy his new game if he hasn't made a proper game to date? It's like when people are applying for admin on a server they say I'VE BEEN ADMIN ON 3,000 SERVERS!!! That's not a good thing, it means each one has been shit and you've left/shut down them
Defent
The selling point of DayZ is the fact that it's bugged as shit it seems. You can do stuff that you cannot do in any other game.. and what you can do in any other game and in real life, dayz defies

"at least it will be free" A relative term to say the least; free. Free to play has become one of the more profitable models lately, look at what league of legends did with skin purchases and such. Same for War Thunder, when they did a trial free weekend they realized they made more money than actually selling the game retail; from micro-transactions. Hopefully H1Z1 will offer a balanced play environment for it's players, I fear they may be assuming a pay2win model. They could learn a thing or two about that from some of the scumbag server admins LOL. Kind-Sir and Defent

By nature I expect a little bit of P2W, But not as much as Planetside 2 for instance.(Infact, They said in that massive stream they had a few weeks ago) That ALL items the player can purchase will be cosmetic. But I expect more then cosmetics from SOE.Only time will tell. Mercules
So apparently people don't understand that games take more than a "year or two" to develop? Blizzard started work on Diablo III in 2001. At that point it was mostly concepts and such and Dean had the concept basically fleshed out for DayZ so we can skip that part. In 2008 actual work began and by 2011 they had something worthy of being called a beta that they offered up for closed external testing... 3 years. The game didn't release until a year later and the expansion Reaper of Souls took 2 years to make. DayZ SA, however was not porting the Mod to a different engine complete with all it's flaws but starting with a slightly different engine, ripping out the stuff that created some of those inherent flaws, and working up from there. Lets not add on the year where Rocket was considering just packaging the mod with a built in ARMA II as "development time" either. DayZ SA has been in development for a little over a year and a half and is still in the Alpha stages of that. I admit that if they never move beyond the point where you gear up and run around shooting people out of boredom then the game has no future, but it is fun and enjoyable at this point. I come to Epoch for the systems beyond where SA and the vanilla mod stopped but I have to admit the SA inventory system is fairly solid as are many other features that make the game feel a bit more gritty than anything using the mod currently does. Needing a variety of diet to keep healthy keeps me moving about collecting fresh food instead of just stockpiling a mountain of canned beans and soda. While a few houses don't spawn loot I go into all the others because there is always that chance the scope or ammo you are looking for is there. In the mods there are entire villages I just move past without going near. Epoch is the best of the mods, but in time DayZ SA will likely be a worthy game. I do look forward to the Epoch ARMA III mod though, it looks promising.
