Did you also make custom hive dll? You can't really store vector rotations to database currently, I know that A3E will change that.
Other than that, merging with snap pro should take like 5 mins, depending on how complex your player controls are in terms of code

Edit: scratch that, I think it's possible, just gotta modify few files here and there and should work with fresh servers.

You should pm the people who created snap building / snapping pro and see if you guys can work together, integrating these mods would be awesome for the base building part of Epoch :)

That's kinda what I guessed but from what I see, the only gem-related info in the config files is the actual definition of the classes.

The admins in the server I play in did a great job advising everyone about the recent changes and posted step-by-step instructions on updating. They offered all the help the players needed to upgrade and it really paid off. I haven't noticed any change, all the regulars are back and new players join every single day.

The debate seems to be taking a turn to the subject of donations vs services. If server owners see their servers as a business / service, why not discuss how best to serve the customer to make them want to stay ...and more importantly, to have the ability to easily join the server?

In business, it's easy to complain when a uncontrollable factor makes you lose customers, the challenge / fun is getting your customer to feel your service / server is better than all the others, when in fact there's very little that separate one server from another. That's what will help keep and make customers go the extra mile to join your server instead of one of the other similar ones.

From the outside (as a mere player), The relationship between server and owner seems to be one that should benefit the owner for some reason. When providing a free service to other without expectations (apart from actual donations) the onus is on the owners, I doubt anyone runs a server simply for profits, except maybe a bankrupt door-to-door used vacuum salesman (/ fool).
If we all enjoy playing the game we should all take pride in paying our share to keep the community active. Especially for this type of mod, since most players didn't pay a cent to play it (after buying A2 & OA).
IMO, the server owners do their part and go far beyond what is expected to help the devs keep the game alive, the players need to be reminded (by server message) that donations help maintain and upgrade the server and the players really need to be kept up to date on any changes and how to implement them. All that would greatly help the entire community in my opinion, from the fresh spawns all the way to the lead devs.

Just in case it wasn't already clear. I really appreciate everything the devs and server owners do for this community. Thanks!

He wasn't offering a gift for a donation, he was (is?) blatantly selling ingame items. But you and I had this discussion before, and it ended with you getting stuck and pulling the gender card, so let's just keep it at this and move on.

You want a server but aren't willing to learn how to script/code the extra things you want on it?

99% of scripts and addons out there come with Guide's and How-To's, If your struggling to make sense of those:

What will you do when the mod updates?
What will you do when one of the scripts you have no longer works after an update?
Whenever Epoch updates your going to have to re-do your server and mission files and test that everything works before you launch your updated server.
Players don't stick around too long on broken servers.

If you don't know the basics of Arma2 scripting and how to configure an Arma2 Server for best performance, before you start modding it then this going to be a steep learning curve for you.

Everytime something breaks or gets updated, because you haven't learned Arma scripting your going to have to post up on forums asking for help or waving your $100 bucks around.

Save yourself some money, setup a local server and learn A2 scripting (there's a lot of guides on setting up a local server, use the forum search)
There's also bucketloads of information on the Bohemia forums and Armaholic on scripting

Meanwhile you'd be better off finding an Overpoch server that runs Panthera already and play on that instead, there's tons of them out there.

    Meh couldn't disagree more.

Is it BI's fault that a great many server owners and hosters are simply incompetent? Sure you can't expect them to fix any server that broke during update? Server owners should have known this was a major update and they should have anticipated better by staging a test environment (everyone can create a local test server on their own PC) for the latest patch (it has been out a while). If you fail to do so and postpone updating to the last day and then try to it with little or no knowledge on how to actually fix problems/errors might they occur, then - in my opinion - there is no one else to blame but yourself.

Obviously the community is here to help, but if you do not know how to fix stuff yourself, the least you can do is be patient when you ask others to fix it for you. In the meanwhile search the forums and actually try reading the numerous threads about the update. Cause 9 out of 10 questions asked have already been answered.

Wow, there is some seriously flawed information on how to update your Arma2OA in this thread, uncluding wiping and reinstalling WTF??

Here's what I told my players to do, and NONE of them have had any issues:

    1. How-to update your Steam beta version to stable:

Go to your Steam Library  Right click on Arma2 Operation Arrowhead  Goto Properties  Goto tab BETAS  In the drop down box select NONE-   Let Steam update.  - If Steam does not download anything, see section 2.  Close the Properties window.  Your Arma2OA is up to date and running on Steam version  If you game successfully updated Go to section 3.
    2. If the game does NOT update:
(You can tell by looking in the downloads section in Steam to see if it has downloaded anything for Arma2OA)
Steam will not update if you have replaced the Arma2OA.exe in the A2OA root folder with the beta version (manually or via DZC), as it does not know the file has changed because it wasn't done by Steam

In the BETAS tab, select the 1.62 beta version of the game. Stay in the BETAS tab. Let Steam Update. Select NONE again. Let Steam Update. Close the Properties window. Your Arma2OA is up to date and running on Steam version.
***** Verifying your game cache of Arma2OA via Steam is not required but optional if you choose to do so. *****

    3. DayzCommander setup:
In Dayz Commander click on Settings UNCHECK the "Replace original Arma2OA files with Beta so Steam works" option. Click Done. If you do not uncheck this option DZC will replace the Steam version executable with your previously installed beta-version, giving you "Bad version" errors when you try to connect.

If you recieve the above error on connecting you will have to back up to Section 2 and do that part of the guide again and double check your DayzCommander setup before launching the game!!

All of my players have followed this guide, as well as my guide for them to give me thier SteamID's so I can update my databases with thier new information.
None have reported issues after we updated all servers to the Steam version.

OT: Our transition to the Steam version has went a lot smoother than I was expecting, primarily because I informed all my players PRIOR to updating via scheduled BEC messages and threads on our forums about the issue.  I also had these guides up in plenty of time before the update.

Hope this helps anyone lost on how to update :)

I'm also an OBS fanboy. I still use Fraps to record videos, but the uncompressed video from fraps makes even a 4 minute video require being ran through a video editor to be made smaller even if you don't want to edit it. Haven't tried OBS for recording, just streaming. I'll have to look into that.

As for shadowplay, it is a pretty cool idea, but all the times I've tried to use it it was buggy, and lagged my game FPS some. It wasn't as if the game was lagging, it would just cause the game to skip noticeably when it had to render new assets because the card itself was actively streaming the video to the shadowplay software. The one time I did actually get it to work correctly, the audio was out of sync, which requires using a program like handbrake to get back in sync (which is even more of a config nightmare than OBS).

For video editing, I use Vegas 12.

Nothing new with Dxtory, same old, same old, still one of most reliable software for quality/performance ratio.

OBS fanboi, here as well. There are no magic setting for everybody indeed, quite unique experience. Plus I love the extras you can change live even while recording locally.

I wouldn't use shadowplay software, it's pointless. What I meant is actually using NVENC in OBS. Actually OBS simple grabs the dll from your nvidia drivers, it does not come packaged with OBS - hence "shadowplay", lol.

Can't beat x264 when it comes to quality. Choice really comes down to what is being recorded. For example static text is crispier on x264, but difference is almost negligible with correct settings. NVENC requires using highest quality settings, but it's generally not good enough for low bitrates in FPS games, lots of pixelation when moving in detailed scenes (dayz grass). However that mostly applies to streaming, when recording locally, bitrate should be upped around 24-32 (blu-ray standard), at this point it is a good competitor to x264, especially when recording at higher resolution like 1440p. Personally I'd use x264 for streaming (second PC preferable), but for local recording NVENC is worth considering, it barely even uses any GPU at all and completely removes clog from CPU, which is awesome.

Adobe premiere here (love the photoshop style and ease of use). Not as sophisticated as Vegas, but it bridges with photoshop, can use plugins from After effects and works directly with Adobe Audition (which is most epic audio software i've ever seen). Using Audition to remove background noise and can even give myself a radio voice, lol. Render settings varies from resolution used 1080p/1440p, mostly using higher profiles with VBR 1 pass. Doing second pass is pointless as youtube ruins the quality anyway, plus it works at 5-8k bitrate 30 fps anyway, but I keep my bitrates 2-3 times higher, it helps a little when YT downgrades and I don't generally care about extra file size since I am on 20Mbps up. File uploads way before I finish editing description and custom thumbnail, lol.
