    Last night I was browsing through old posts on OpenDayz and remembered that I had thought of Overpoch first :lol:
     
    The only reason it didn't happen is that I was hosting DayZ on a control panel host, without launch parameter access.

    The keys are used for our whitelist system that we use to invite people for testing. They do not and never will "Cost" anything. They are given out to people we feel will help us with testing. They are also used during a more public showing by giving extra keys to youtubers and twitch streamers to help them get viewers via the giveaway. It also gets us some attention and more people interested in the mod.
     
    I do go through the forums and look for people who have gone above and beyond in helping others and have been around for a long time.
     
    But in the end they are used to control the amount of people in the servers so we don't get super overloaded.
     
    Last night we got some new closed testers in pushing the count to about 15 players. This gave us the ability to see things that we couldn't when we only had 2-6 people in the server. As those things get sorted we will be inviting more players to see if we might have missed anything else.
     
     
    So to be perfectly clear to anyone that doesn't understand my post.
     
    We will never sell keys or give them out for donations.

    Who do I have to beg to get an acoustic guitar and a basic animation in-game for Arma 3: Epoch?
     
    I would love to be able to code in little coves of NPC's sitting around a fire listening to some post apocalyptic guitar songs.

    Taking it even a step farther, imagine finding this instrument and being able to sit down with your fellow survivors and play them a tune. Could even make it so that you can only unlock new songs by experiencing certain events, such as coming face to face with certain antagonists in the game.

    I managed to get the Arma 2 Guitar addon to work on Arma 3, and took all day putting together this to help my plea. I also retextured the guitar a bit.
     
    All addon credit goes to USSR Sniper of course.
     
    Imagine walking through the threatening world to come across this.
     

     
    The song list is "He was a Good Stalker" followed by an Unnamed guitar track from Metro 2033.
     
    10 points for the person who recognizes the line written on the Guitar. ;)

    I certainly can't speak for everyone, but I know that my clan and I will be trying out both H1Z1 and A3 Epoch, regardless of which of them is released first.  And whichever one has the better product and we enjoy more will be where we spend the majority of our time.  In my opinion, the quality and substance of the game matters way more than when it is released.  Case in point, I pre-ordered BF4 and played it for about a month before SA came out.  Once SA Alpha was open to the public I jumped on it and haven't played much BF4 since.  Why?  Because I enjoy SA more.  The same rationale can be applied to the H1Z1/SA/Epoch argument.  Make a good game and the gamers will come, regardless of which project hits the market first.

    For the love of God!
    We, as in us on these forums, and others that already play and love Epoch will of course try A3 Epoch. We're already converts.

    The other millions of PC gamers, in my opinion, are more likely to try A3 Epoch if they're not already occupied-with/in-love-with a free to play, open world survival game that's really good.

    If H1z1 is shite or full of hackers that aren't being countered, then yes, it could go the same way as WarZ.

    Have a unique feature that everyone loves.
    Don't play the game for your players by having them spawn as freshies with gun/map/compass/gps
    Don't make it so those with money have the upper hand over those who don't, make it the same for everyone
    Don't add op vehicles, players will rage when their base gets destroyed by someone in a tank
    Don't add un-policeable rules as if you can't enforce it all the time it's not fair and your players will rage
    Don't add too many rules, you will end up banning 1 player and the whole squad leaves.
    Don't add every script on here and OpenDayZ, despite what some might think, players make the server, not what scripts. Choose your scripts well so it's balanced.
    If you haven't already, set up a forum/homepage
    Stream the server, sit in game on your own or get your friends to sit in it, no one joins an empty server.

    Some of you are probably wondering what the future of DZMS is, it being designed for Arma 2: DayZ and all. I just did a version change and have released DZMS v1.1 Final. This is the final version of DZMS unless there is some drastic update that breaks everything.

    So what does this mean for the future of DZMS?
     
    DZMS achieved all that I wanted it to be. I wanted a stable, efficient mission system that was easy to use, install, configure, and customize. I wanted to make a system that didn't have all the bugs the other systems did.
    My first release was on the OpenDayZ forums, and after I got the registration issues sorted with the EpochMod forums, I released it here also.
     
    When I released it, TheFuchs contacted me asking if he could use it as a base for EMS, which I was fine with, but apparently a week after releasing EMS 0.3, his water cooling leaked and fried his computer leading to EMS being very buggy and un-updated, which isn't what I intended. I'm sorry for those who tried to use EMS and were disappointed for it being buggy and glitchy, which was the exact opposite for what I wanted DZMS to be.
     
    I want to thank all of those who submitted RPT's, bugs, errors, and those who submitted better code to me. Your feedback helped me tremendously in fixing DZMS and making it what it is now. I also want to thank the Epoch staff for giving me this little section of the forum.
     
    With the coming of Arma 3: Epoch in the short future, DZMS is going to be recoded under a different name, with missions created from scratch for the Arma 3 platform. I don't know exactly what it will look like, but I want it to meet the same standards I had when I decided to create DZMS. When I have a first release, I'm hoping to also have a section of the Epoch Forums to post about it in.
     
    So here's a thread to the creation of DZMS, and to the future of the DZMS base.

    You have a custom DynamicWeatherEffects.sqf with a scope error in it.
     
    If you change to the default script, it will be fixed.
