    RimBlock, If your concern is with something you have added to A2 DayZ Epoch or released using DayZ Mod or DayZ Epoch assets it would fall under the DayZ DML license. Per this license I do not think monetization is even possible  (Noncommercial - You may not use this material for any commercial purposes) and considering the countless people that contributed to DayZ Mod and DayZ Epoch it would not be remotely possible to get permission from everyone. The only way I can see that happening is from BI in the form of a license change.
     
    Currently per our license for A3 Epoch the same is true (NonCommercial — You may not use the material for commercial purposes). We do have the rights to make changes or offer additional licenses should we choose to do so. Our team all agreed to release our work under (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0) - http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/ during development. If any changes are to be made to our license we will get the approval from everyone on the team.

    Progress update (since I posted this thread originally last friday). The majority of the bulk code is done. All the location finding code is done for now. The next bulk code hurdle is the code that actually spawns the AI, keeps track of them, cleans them up, and caches them. VEMF will cache units that are not near players and respawn them in when players get near to save on server resources which should further minimize lag and allow for more AI on the field.
     
    After this stretch, there will only be small bugs to work out like keeping temporary vehicles from despawning, or being saved by the server if we don't want them to, and making sure the AI behave as they are supposed to. As announced on Github, the first release of VEMF will include Dynamic Town Invasion missions only, and will be expanded on from there (as that will require 80% of the core code to be done).

    The three mods you named will never collaborate, apart from Epoch allowing community contributions at some stage (hopefully). There were creators of other mods contributing their work to Dayz Epoch (ie. DayZero), it could happen again with A3E.
    All of these mods you named are so incompatible, I don't know where to even start... 
    If you are new around, then I'll give you one major reason this ain't happening - Out of mods you named, Epoch is the only one not stealing or using other people's work without permission.

    I agree but I think traps like the tripwires from DayZ would be better than so many military explosives.

    I'd much rather see grenade tripwires, bear traps where only another player can free you, barbed/razor wire, tied branch traps, shotgun mines, etc. Basically things a person post apocalypse could craft. Satchels and other explosives are too common atm

    Was an avid user and advocate of DZAI, and in some ways it influenced my goals for the creation of DZMS.

    - What is VEMF? -
    VEMF is the Spiritual Successor to DZMS.
    VEMF Stands for Vampire's Epoch Mission Framework.
    VEMF is going to be a mission system designed specifically for Arma 3: Epoch.
     
    - How is VEMF different from DZMS? -
    VEMF is being designed to be a Mission Framework.
    VEMF will be more modular than DZMS allowing anyone to easily create an "Addon" for it.
    VEMF will not be a "fetch the box" mission system, it will be much much broader;
    A-B, Multiple Ending, Vehicle Convoys, Vehicle Capture, Manhunts, Investigation/Exploration, and more!
    VEMF will run entirely on the server side, in a server-side PBO.
     
    - When Will it be Done? -
    VEMF is still a work in progress.

    Sorry guys but the next update is delayed. I am trying to stuff a bunch of new code and features in that I haven't had time to test anything yet and there are still issues.

    I'll do my best to try to get it done this weekend and release it.

    Which is the overwhelming majority, Wang.

    My opinion of why it has such low population at the moment, is because it's not very good, at the moment.

    I reckon the clusterfuck of servers, modded and otherwise, are actually beneficial to the devs. They can deduce what is pulling in the crowds, while distancing themselves from the modded stuff. They've got the proverbial wider net.

    All the arguments about cinder strength, explosives abundance, time ratio of build to destroy, the whole fucking lot that's been argued on here, will help the devs fine tune their vanilla version.

    Balance will follow, and the game will be ok, but the risk takers will, imo, always have the more populated servers.

    That page doesn't show the amount of players, and recording the amount of players at what is likely to be a low point (mid week) instead of a full point (weekends) would also have different results. Then you have to factor in timezones. It isn't that easy to judge this.
     
    However I would say I believe the forums are currently more full of server devs than there are players, but most players don't visit the forums that often.

    nah 20480 should be ok since you are working with downloaded satmaps, problems at this rez starts when adding more and more layers or modifying whole file at the same time.
    I believe working with PSB instead of PSD format should force photoshop to work at optimized speeds.
    Give it a go before drawing any conclusions. While zoomed in and working on small details its fine even at twice the resolution. But working with whole image at the same time and playing around with multiple layers or alphas slows down even 10240, which is natural, but at least it does not crash and fits my work speed. I keep everything on SSD, think it helps a tad... especially if saving often when file sizes starts growing.

    There is a difference between it being done by a few mature people compared to it being commonplace for every server where there may not be mature admins, or admins that even know where the bans.txt is.

    So I'm working on a map I decided to name Bat Country. It's an island based on the Island of Santorini, Greece. It will be terrained similarly to Altis/Stratis. Here is a picture of the real island.
     

     
    The Island has some history. The island used to be a volcano until it erupted and collapsed into itself forming a Caldera in the middle. The remaining islands are the remains of this volcanic island and caldera. The eruption from the island is thought to possibly be the cause of the extinction of the Minoan civilization (68mi South via Tsunami), and may be the source of the lore behind the city of Atlantis. The center island in the caldera is still volcanically active spewing lava flows occasionally. The inside edge of the caldera sports sheer cliffs to the water's edge.
     
    I went with the name Bat Country in reference to Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, and because I do not want people to view this as an accurate representation in any way of the real island.
     
    The map size will be roughly 20km x 20km, so about half the size of Altis, but the actual land surface area will be much less.
     
    The reason for this thread is discussion about the terrain, and as a place for me to ask for help in creation of the terrain. This is not yet an "announcement" thread for the terrain to be released anytime soon.

    I was planning to do a 4096x5m heightmap for 20,480m and I was going to try to build a 1 - 1m satmap for it.

    Both at the same time.
    there's a way to cheat with masks to at least create nice base to work off of, It's called indexed colors.
    Load your satmap into photoshop.
    Image > Mode > indexed color...
    Now you can restrict your satmap to 5 or 6 colors only, photoshop will automatically find nearest neighbor to a color you choose.
    use 5 indexed colors if planning to use normal map (futura), or use 6 if not.
    Check your satmap for color ranges you should use.
    Convert back to RGB and save as tga.
     
    Normally you'd want to stick to solid colors (255.0.0 - 0.0.0 - 0.128.255 - etc). Dont worry while indexing, you can always index more colors, like 256 and then use Selec > Color range to change to a solid color. When established few base colors, do indexing to limit your map to 5 or 6 colors. This is if you intend to use solid colors like pink on sand or grass for some reason.
     
    For satmaps, normals and masks you should stick with 1m = 1px if possible. So a 1024px heightmap with 10cell size = 10240px satmap/mask/normal (2048x5 or 4096x2.5 also). Anything less will look blurred or washed out, or just create broken satmaps where they overlap.
