Vehicle & Wooden Floor = BOOM on server restart.

So today I was *happy* to find out that when you build a cubicle with 3 Stud Walls and place a Wooden Floor on top in Free Build Mode your vehicle (Hunter) will not be safe underneath and will explode on server restart. This leaves me to 2 conclusions:

-Either the Wooden Floor moves on server restart eventhough it should be *locked* and collide with nearby vehicles.

-Or (what I think is more plausible), vehicles don't spawn properly and spawn spawn slightly up in the air, which will make them collide with the Wooden Floor and cause massive explosion that will make your children cry.

1. Was playing on MGT server.

2. ArmA 1.3.2, Epoch 0.2.0.1.

3. Decsribed above.

4. Yes it's repeatable.

Basically my entire base exploded by this issue, so I wonder if this has happened to anyone else so that this bug can be confirmed.

Kind regards,

Has not happened to a base of mine, but I can confirm cars will spawn slightly in the air. This can be seen if you're one of the first players on a server after restart and you're standing next to a car. They'll be floating off ground for the first 30 seconds, then drop. It's probably not a good idea to stick them under a low roof right now

On GTX TX01, we parked our cars on a wooden floor and they did not blow up after a server restart. We do not have a roof, so this makes me think that nimh is correct. Also, nimh, about how far off the ground do they spawn?

My crew plays on SSNC01 and this has happened to us twice now.

One of the times we had two hunters parked. I was gonna give up on this game because of this poop but the roof explanation makes a ton of sense.

So solution (for now) would be no roof and/or a high roof?

We will conduct an experiment on the high roof hypothesis.

Seems parking a heli on a wood landing pad built on foundations on the roof of a large building is a bad idea as well.  Built a nice 3x3 landing pad that I was expanding on and landed a Hummingbird on top.  Next restart there was nothing but a husk and large fireball left of the heli.

My group had a hunter as well and it did not blow up, so I know that no roof works at least on GTX TX01.

Interesting. On the previous patch (1.0.3), I had a wooden heli pad on foundations on the ground with a hummingbird and it was just fine.

Logged out with a hunter inside a base with a roof and the wheels are gone and the engine is red.  Since we have a jammer and solid concrete/metal walls surrounding it that it may indeed be the roof causing problems.

I will remove the roof and see if this solves the problem

Conducted the no roof experiment and it can be confirmed (on our server at least) that the vehicles still blow up.

I told my teammate that was on to take pictures but he's an a-hole and didn't.

Vehicles tested was a hunter, off-road, and a hatchback.

Next test is the high roof but the result is expected to be the same.

Weird, I have not tested a hunter, but I have several box trucks stored just fine with a one stud wall high roof.

Well, We tested the high roof and the test failed....big surprise.

Funny thing now though is, Im thinking its a specific area of the map thats a problem.

Case study #2

Upon conducting case study one we found that regular roof, no roof, and high roof,  causes our poop to explode. So we collectively decided to not park in a "garage" anymore.

Before the crew logs out we park another flat bed in the grid square east of where our base resides. Not on purpose, It was just a simple observation that I kept in the back

of my mind. I log on roughly 4 hours later just because Im bored and work blows squirrel testicles, to find myself in the middle of our awesome flat bed exploding in my face.

I survived like a true porn star would and high tailed it out of there like a high school kid who just pre-jizzed seeing his teacher bend over to pick up a pencil.

Question: Is it area specific or is this a result of something happening to the vics during restart?

Research: Refer to case study #2

Hypothesis: a 3x3 grid square east of Dorida on server SSNC01 (without being too specific to save our base from potential disaster ha....ha....) is fubar.

Testing of hypothesis will be conducted during the nights to come. Roughly 6 Nov 2014 to 8 Nov 2014.

This sucks because steel is hard to come by and we barely scathed by building our first tower. None of us are good at flying with the new controls (yet) so finding bases to raid is hard as well.

built a helipad, chopper blew up on restart.same if u park a chopper on (non solid ground) pier and stuff like that, cars blow up if parked inside a building.

I have parked several helis on wood floors and not had any problems.

There is some weird shit going on with vehicles and wood floors. Today I logged on and the hunter was floating a couple inches off the ground, I did not want to get in it because I feared it would explode. Also, some of our larger trucks have glitched though the wood floor onto the ground after restart. And for really tall vehicles like the Hemtt transport, even with a two stud wall high roof, it still gets damaged after restart.

Its the same problem in arma2... the thing is, the database ist loading in a specific way, that means, buildings, cars and other vehicles spawn in a row. If ur vehicles loads before the floor had a chance to spawn, the vehilce is "flying", the consequence is, that it will explode. If the floor is almost at the ground, the vehicle only falls down a few cm, thats why it doenst crash....

In A2 Epoch, the devs fixed it so the bases spawned first and then the vehicles. Hopefully they will do the same thing in A3 Epoch if they have not already done so.

Also, vehicles spawn with bearing 0, and when a client approaches them they rotate to the correct angle - this can cause damage if there is an object in the path of rotation. Can be seen if you logout near your vehicle and login after restart.

I think I ran into this problem. Before I had my hunter parked in the corner of my base for a while with no problems. Then we got a pickup truck and parked it right next to it. After a server restart, as soon as my friend logged in he said he heard an explosion. I think the vehicles were oriented to bearing 0 and when my friend logged in they changed to another bearing and when that happened they clipped into each other and blew up.
