A Jiggly Fatkid
When I run my server I can't connect to it even if i direct connect. I get "Wait for host". If put the ports in INPUT and/or FORWARD in the iptables I get the same message. anyone have any ideas as to what i'm doing wrong?
oSoDirty
Well, if you are running the server on the same PC that you are running the game and can't connect, it's not a port issue. It's a config issue. I wouldn't bother with ports until you are able to connect using localhost in remote. If you are on a different PC than the server, then it could be either. I don't know shi* about linux, but i do know you don't need to forward anything to connect locally.
A Jiggly Fatkid
It's not running on my pc, my friend has a server rack in kansas city. He said that he port forwarded his router.
A Jiggly Fatkid
Actually i just realized ti's not saying "Host Identity Created". That might be my problem
oSoDirty
Well make sure your friend DMZ's his modem/WAN as well. Most US connections use a modem and a router. Both have to be forwarded. If you can connect to any server at all, the problem isn't on your end.
DeanReid
http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/Try this and check if all 3 ports are open, if not then it could be as oSoDirty mentioned, maybe send in a support request to the provider and ask to open them for you
A Jiggly Fatkid
My friend portforwarded the correct ports but my issue is getting past the firewall. i added 2300-2302 udp INPUT and OUTPUT in iptables but i'm stuck at wait for host. Also port checkers say 2302 is closed. Edit:Fixed
DeanReid
What did you do?
A Jiggly Fatkid
He forgot to port forward 2302 and it could be that I didn't have 2300-2302 udp going in and out in my iptables.
