ah the good old days when casual tears flowed freely .

Arma has so much to offer and is a very flexible and fun game to play and mod. With this flexibility comes insecurity and a dark side.

Yesterday I spoke with one of the "kids" that have been terrorizing our servers. He is demanding server files in exchange for stopping the attacks. I told him that the server files would have been released to more communities by now if we had something proven stable and secure. Something that this hack-a-thon is stopping us from doing. He offered up one exploit and then immediately started demanding that we give the server files in exchange. He then said that if we did not give them the server files in 24 hours the hacking would continue, and it has.
Simply put, the current exploit they are using is a fault in ARMA and not an issue with our mod and will ultimately need to be fixed by BI.

Until this issue is fixed by BI or another fix is found we will no longer be running any public servers. All servers run my me will only be accessible with a password obtained from me or Axle. We will have a few communities that will likely run whitelisted servers so look out for them to pop up on our servers page: http://epochmod.com/servers.php

I would also like to give a Huge Double Thumbs Up to the Devs for not taking any BS and throwing those pos's right back into the mud and under the rock from whatever s**t infested basement they came from!

1) The server I was attempting to join was GTXTX03
2)Arma build: 127372 , Epoch version: 0.1.0.3
3) I was attempting to join a friends game by using the "join game" feature in Steam as well as manually joining that specific server. 
4) I tried joining the server about 20 times and was not successful. 
 
Sometimes I would get a message saying, "public variable restriction #1".  Either that would happen or it would just kick me back to the server list or crash Arma altogether. Additionally, I originally chose the female character and when I last played the mod three days ago, I now have a male character.  I have only played this mod two times.  The first time was about three weeks ago and the second time was three days ago.  Not sure if it matters, but I do have Epoch mod enabled in my expansions.  Is there any way to get my female character back?
 
Great work on the mod thus far, really enjoying it.  Epoch will seriously be the only reason to play Arma once it's finished so keep up the good work. 

Please stop referring to these degenerate oxygen thieves as hackers, not even the ballbags that create the scripts are hackers. By referring to them as 'hackers' you are giving them credit where credit is not due.
 
They are skiddies, you know, the thing you do in your underwear after a few too many beers and a curry. Script kiddies, nothing more.
 
You must also be patient with the mod as it is still in testing and not designed for permanent play, you won't get peace of mind game of Epoch until it is in the hands of those who have enough time to moderate and admin the servers, performing rollbacks when servers are nuked and providing support when glitches and bugs cause issues.
 
Unfortunately even though you are all begging for these skiddies to be fixed, there is ALWAYS a way around any fixes that are made, the best line of defence is a good admin team and unless the Epoch team start 'hiring' volunteer admins to moderate/admin servers you cannot get attached to your gear and base.
 
So please, stop with all the threads! There should be more threads thanking the devs than there are about 'hackers' but at the moment its the wrong way round.

To be honest, for the next patch they're not getting changed that much, just some disposal code, security updates and, if I get time, maybe some behaviour tweaks.. am looking at making it a little easier to see the uav.
 
We are concentrating on refining what we have and fixing issues.

@JPollock  as usual you still saying BS as you did on BreakingPoint , so go back playing it. and from what i remember we killed you so many time, i was pretty sure you was the casual player here ...
 
 
SS is banable , Axles already did it on Cube Noob's stream.
Even if it's unethical , i think it's up to the streamer to deal with it . You want to stream , well ok , but don't whin for being SS , you didn't even hide anything on from your stream.

You can put a longer delay on your stream and move that graphic top right over your GPS that way he can't see where you're at would be a good start.

oc servers withdrew there servers with out warning watch the announcement area for updates man.

It is against the rules, except we didn't camp them...not in the slightest. 300m away from a spawn point right outside of a town against players with lynx's and assault rifle is not fresh spawn camping. Move along people.
