Guest
Op, agreed. I don't like the units following the uav personally, was a quick bit of work based off a good idea. Expect that to be updated.. It's possible to desactivate UAV Spawn?
Brez
All I can say is so far I'm not feeling it.. seems like there is no threat at all other than players. But I'm optimistic things will change and we will actually have that threat. The only fear I have is the "other threat" becomes too deadly. Might not be a good thing as it'll try and put Epoch in the "non-casual" player friendly list. Not every player has eyes in the back of their head and is constantly looking around their surroundings for that deadly threat that is gonna pop up and do them in. When I think back to A2.. zeds were deadly. But they were more deadly when it was a good number of them after you. One didn't really threaten you or make you run as much as 8 or 10 of them. I'm hopeful they look at that and put in some less-deadly more common antagonists. To have a Rock Monster and 3 of the higher-end sappers and 5 of the lower end sappers on you at any one given time then the UAV spawns in after and the AI camps your body might not go over too well. Just saying. On a side note I'm also not feeling any kind of consistent theme here. I'm hopeful they pick a direction/theme and try and be a bit more consistent with it. What are we battling against when we talk about antagonists Monsters/Creatures? Aliens? Mutants?
spartan
The raptors have always been a wish of mine but have held off doing anything with them because it would mean a client download and adding an additional launch parameter. I rationalize them by fitting them in with a genetic research theme which sappers are supposed to be I think but having them included in the Epoch mod itself would be good. Not sure how the original creators of Jurassic Arma would feel about an amalgamation like that though.
waynewr
From playing Epoch since the beginning of Arma2 epoch the one thing that stands out is the speed at which players will become use to AI and how to take them down. I don't know coding, hell sometimes i struggle with basic config's on my sever, but how difficult would it be to introduce random traits to AI? Strength, toughness, abilities, reactions etc... So for example, you come across a cultist while looting, normally you know from experience how many shots you need with certain weapons to take him down, done deal. You put said rounds into the central mass, and WFT it laughs (scary enough to keep Axeman awake at night), a few more rounds and it drops. Next time it may explode, heal, fire weapon, run at you etc... I can still hear that creepy child laughter from the Namalsk Map... I guess what I'm saying is that enhancing the decision making process for players by introducing that randomness factor would put Epoch even further out in front of the other Mods. axeman

I am glad you choose Cultis, not a laughing sapper lol I agree with you, Cultis gives a nice theme too, a good one that makes sense to follow zombies infection in that they kinda also relate to the dead and undead, I think had epoch from start stuck to that theme and create antagonists like that then we won't be complaining so much now, i made recommendation about those kinda creatures and how it would change game play, I would also imagine that cults and phantom would create less stress on servers if spawned in numbers comparing to UAV and sappers (i am not basing this on anything, just the fact that we saw what happened when lots of UAV spawned on previous patch so i might be wrong here). Find similar monsters that would be more fit for day time too and you on to a winner if zombies is out of the question... - possessed AI (as demonic possession) can attack in similar fashion to zombies did, some faster the others? Liqu1dShadow
how about a pack hunter that spawns in forests, and all you hear is howls, thats when you know they are coming from the forests to find you :)
Flybynight
I placed several raptors at the Stratis airport in the past. As I couldn't kill all that I put down, I ran into the tower and up to the roof. To my amazement the raptors made it all the way to the top floor. I dropped grenades on them and shot through that opening. They also seemed to guard he ground level door. I put down a ton of them, obviously. It really was pretty intense. Try it out sometime....keep it in mind.
Cavadus
Not all mobs necessarily need a theme to tie them together. Look at the Fallout franchise. You have raiders, mercs, a few different nations, the Brotherhood of Steel, and that's just human stuff. Then there are mutants, ghouls, and the insane wildlife. They're all very different but are neatly tied together with the narrative. I think the biggest thing Epoch could use is a little bit of story fluff to help establish some canon. Get raiders in there, a paramilitary group with a little backstory, et cetera. One can easily throw in some lore for players to discover through in game items like books, old newspapers, or even just NPC interaction. And, as always, KILL HITLER! Liqu1dShadow
Ravenwood from Jericho :) NPC's that actual bounty hunt you and then interact with you, telling you to get down and taking some stuff out of your inventory, then roughing you up a little. you bend over and take it or take them on :)
