What are your preferred load outs and Why?

EG:

What scope is your favourite, what gun, what bag/vest etc.

Do you take A multi-gun or first aid kits? How much magazines or ammo? What about food and drink?

Silencer? Tracers? Do you take a car? a Chopper? How many people do you roll out with? What are your essentials.

Imagine you're out to do a Ai mission or visiting a high-traffic PVP zone. What do you take with you and why?

Should help admins better cater for their user's and the devs better understand players preferences.

Also gives new players an idea of what works and what doesnt

Lynx, Nightstalker/ TWS and SOS.

Katiba GL, no-scope, HE grenades.

F/A kits x2.

Vehicle repair kit.

Pretty much the standard for me  :)

Similar loadout, Only difference is I prefer to just use APDS lynx ammo and use a suppressed AKM for my secondary. Also I don't carry a repair kit anymore since the addition of Large energy pack crafting. Nothing I can't fix with that.

I would go a step further than what you have done here, if you have the time...

Put a Survey up via SurveyMonkey or something where you ask all your questions, segmented out with questions like:

"When you go for a mission, what [insert Backpack | Vest | Primary | Secondary| # of Ammo each | Misc ] do you prefer to use"

Then if you have for each, a radio button selection for Backpacks, Vest and so on - you'll eventually get to the average type equipment that people like to use.

It could be fun seeing what they do for mission, for looting, for material harvesting etc.

Can also add the map type that they play most frequently on and so on, getting a better idea of the more popular (and why) maps without having to sort the MP list and all that.

Actually - now that I am thinking about it, I kind of want to get this Survey made... :D

Note: I will be making a big one - it will likely be about 3 hours before it comes up, but it will be awesome (consulting my company's resident survey specialist after this post).

Based on feedback from a survey specialist, the writing of this survey is taking longer than expected.

Also, I would love to get feedback from a Developer before I post it, in case there are specific questions that should or should not be in the Survey (or if you want to take what I have so far and run it yourself). :D

Really Depend on my mood .....

Sniper then I prefer the Lynx + SOS scope with a mix of normal and APDS rounds , but if im up for a bit of closer engagement or if im gonna fight in a city then I prefer to rock a Zafir + MRCO with minimum of 450rnds.

most times im rocking a zafir + MRCO as it has a good mix of accuracy at range and close up beastability , I never use anything less than a heavy plate carrier vest if I have spares and don't like to take backpacks.

oh and my favourite clothing is the guerrilla smocks 1  and shemagh :)

What are peoples thoughts on 5.56mm rounds vs 6.5 and 7.2 (hope i got those numbers right)...

Are 5.56 weapons worth anything? I've found that at a distance of about 500m with a suppressor my bullets don't do much damage (could have sworn i hit someone 4 times and still did not get a kill). Could I have hit them 4 times without killing them or was I legit missing?

What are the better 6.5 and 7.2 weapons that people recommend rocking? Also how far do you need to be for your gunfire sounds to not give away your location suppressed and non-suppressed ?

I only carry a 5.56 weapon to sell it, or if I'm a freshie and it's all I can find.

My preferred load out since I play solo with no base is a silenced mk18. Up until recently I preferred a DMS with an NVS backup in my pack, but I recently found a nightstalker and I'm switching to that.

I use a silenced 4-five as my side arm, and try to keep a silenced MXM with an ARCO in my pack. Then I just max my carry capacity with ammo for all 3 weapons, and some food/drink in my carryall/plate carrier.

Edited to add: Forgot to mention I usually try and have at least 2 first aid kits on hand.

sadly in epoch no they really aren't worth much (for cheap loot runs to kill the AI yes but not for PVP) , they've buffed the health in epoch so it takes way too many shots of 5.56 to be effective outside of CQC but even then theyre trumped by the 7.62 varients. Basically don't use anything less than 7.62 for PVP and 5.56/6.5 for the AI. At a push you can use the 6.5 for PVP but your gonna have to get close or wait for a good shot when you can put multiple hits on target.

I don't get to play often but when I do I usually prefer a 6.5 rifle as my primary and a silenced 45 for a sidearm.  The 6.5 provides a decent balance of stopping power plus the ability to put lots of rounds down range in a hurry.  The 7.62 rifles like the M14 or the Mk18 are my preference for those, but their lower magazine capacity makes you have to pick and choose your shots carefully, which can be a death sentence in CQC. Carrying 10 mags of 6.5 will get you through almost any situation.   My clothing tends to lean towards the camo side, especially on Altis.  It doesn't make much sense to wear a white driver uniform when the terrain is mostly brown.  My vest of choice is the plate carrier rig for its added armor and my backpack of choice is the Hex Carryall.  I can have plenty of ammo on hand and also have tons of room left for collecting items while I'm looting.  I usually carry 4 or 5 first aid kits, especially when doing AI missions.  The multi-gun is pretty much useless honestly, so I hardly use it, even to repair vehicles.  I usually just use repair parts.

If I'm in the mood to snipe, then the Lynx with an SOS is hands down my first choice.  Great range, awesome stopping power and let's face it, it just sounds bad-ass, especially with JSRS running.

My favorite gun in A3 overall is the zaphir if I'm planning on being in heavy combat. However, I'm usually trying to be stealthy in Epoch so I usually end up holding on to a 6.5 SW and try to find a suppressor. I really like the DMS, but I'll use an SOS too. I often use the ARCO as well, not sure why I like it over the other RCO variants.

I'm excited to see Kiory's L85a2 and especially the SR-25. As far as 5.56 goes I'll usually sell them or dump them, except for the SAW maybe. I've been using the Ruger since you can throw a frickin holo and flashlight on it, which is awesome, and it's currently silent (changing this patch).

I thought they took the nightstalker out a while ago..

I play lone-wolf style, so I'm sure my load-out is a bit different than most. I'm most of a stealth/stalker/looter-style player, so I'm not typically YOLO'ing or leading big squads onto the airfields.

Primary Loadout: Zefir + RCO Scope (with SOS scope in bag in case I run across something/someone that needs sniping) or silenced ABR 18 w/ SOS if I find a couple of mags I can spare

Try to roll with any type of Plate vest and Carryall backpack if possible in terms of cargo gear.

For whatever reason, I never really travel with FAK's on me and since I play solo I don't typically carry a multigun w/ heal on it. I'd rather just limp somewhere, drop my gear, kill myself and run back to it than bring it with me. Not saying it makes sense, but I think I've only used a FAK maybe 3-4 times total so far... and I've been playing quite a bit... I usually end up dying long before the damage slows me down.

In terms of travel, I usually go on foot. Quiet and not usually too inconvenient since I usually stick to one side of a map (home range). Vehicles just introduce too many complications for my normal day-to-day travel needs. If I find a vehicle/chopper, I'll either use it to get somewhere else and then ditch it and continue on-foot or I'll just sell it right away and pocket the krypto.

I usually carry the same loadout no matter what I do... usually the only difference is if I'm:

  • Sniping: I'll bring some food & drink & ammo with me and leave the backpack at home. If I'm successful, I'll have a new backpack anyways. :)
  • Looting: I'll bring a strong pistol (for defense) and keep empty vest/backpack for storage capacity. I leave my primary open so I can pick up an additional gun to use/defend with. If I feel there's a chance I'll run across a vehicle, then I'll bring a single vehicle repair kit. When looting, I usually holster my weapon so I can get in and out of looting hotspots more quickly. Grab everything quick, sort it out & discard the crap later.

So yeah... that's basically me in a nutshell.

Loving this thread. Always find it interesting to hear peoples playstyle and weapons of choice.

Can anybody confirm or direct me to a page with some info on how sound travels in Epoch? I'm curious to know how important suppressors are and how far away I can shoot somebody without giving away my location via gunfire sound.

All this time i've been rocking 5.56mm guns and hoarding them in my base and it's beginning to make sense to me now why I hardly ever kill anybody from long distance when im scoped in and using a suppressor. Must be hitting just not doing enough damage

Generally speaking, the bigger the number, the more damage it deals.  Damage decreases over distance.  Clothing and armor decreases damage even further.

IMO it shouldn't make as much of a difference as it does in Arma 3 when it comes to CQC(close quarter combat).  5.56 still seems overly weak in this game, even when firing on someone point blank.  Though, I'm thinking that probably has mostly to do with armor values of clothing and gear.

As far as sound goes, I don't think I've seen stats on sound carrying distance yet.  In general, AR with suppressor is usually audible within 200m or so from what I've noticed.  45cal pistol with suppressor should be under 100m I think.

Thanks for the info on sound - still trying to understand how range effects unsilenced weapons - interested to know how far people are when I can hear gunfire in a certain direction..

The 5.56 is essentially kind of a "well, there's nothing else left" kind of gun... not to sound elitist. When it comes to PvP a 5.56 rifle is only viable (without a silencer) maybe to around 300m. I don't trust a 6.5 past 500m (again, unsilenced) and 7.62 is probably good up to 800m or so on an everyday basis. Obviously there are exceptions.

With a silencer, I usually don't engage anything with a 7.62 beyond 600m... but that's just me.

And with a 7.62... it's not a statistical fact, but I usually don't hear people firing silenced 7.62's beyond 150m away from their position (and if I do, it's because I've boosted the in-game sound up quite a bit. Not saying their inaudible at that range, just that I don't think most people have their sound turned up THAT high)

All of this is just my take/my opinion... everyone's different.
