    Have to say DLC's do grind with me to... NOT that I'd object to paying for a DLC at all, bought loads for other games in my time but as Knights says... GRATES HARD.. when THEY say "NO PAY TO WIN"... then SELL better guns to players and call it a DLC! Personally...on my server Players can use the Karts and heli's from the  DLC's...BUT!!!... they will still get  to warning/adverts SUGGESTING they buy them... that the NON DlC owners do NOT get... IMHO Seems to be the fairest way! Also serves as a bit of a tester to allow players the chance to see what's in the pack's and decide IF they want to buy them...good for Bohemia.. but if not does not give any in game advantages to anyone other than a clearer view if bought due to no adverts for a DLC!
    Not yet looked at marksman but unless I can allow ALL to use it... it won't be going on my server!

    As some seem to  think I am Anti DLC...I am NOT at all..
    It is purely that it grates against the DO NOT PAY TO WIN RULES....
    (I do not agree with pay to win in the slightest...
    but do agree that providers should have some way of compensation for their costs)
     
    I have NEVER taken a penny from  a player to provide the servers I have had and still do provide...
    I provide them as a hobby...
    yes I probably spend £30 to £40 a month in extra internet and electric I do not need, to provide servers 24/7,
    but if I'm honest I'd rather do that than pay some of the POOR unresponsive hosts out there...
    I have used hosts before and been very unsatisfied in a few ways..
    So as my hobby I provide what I do free.. if players want something changed.. I consider it.. for the good of all not just the one,
    IF i can't provide it I will say sorry no, and suggest a server that may have it...
    I provide the servers like a lot whether used or not...
    I do it for me and the few that have followed me over the years..
     
    If the time comes when I can't afford to provide anything I will ask for help...
    But you won't get anything in return...
    The only exception to this is if you have worked hard for my community and I have considered you a trust worth chap/or lady to become an admin, any benefits you gain from this WILL NOT have come via donations but via your time and effort put into the community..
     
    Should I still not be able to afford to run servers (it has happened for a while) I close down and my players and I have to go play elsewhere till MY finances Improve...
     
    I think players SHOULD support the work Bohemia do and buy the VERY CHEAP DLC packages they have tried and liked..
    But only those..and currently I provide a glimpse of what they are missing by unlocking the packs ..but I still leaving my support to bohemia intact..
    IE the adverts suggestion you buy will still be visible.. if you do not own,
    I provide a small tester..if you don't like the background adverts.. buy the pack...
    If you don't like my way of doing things... there are plenty off other good servers out there...
    If you like bornholm go jump on -UG- 's excellent server it's where I fell in love with the map..
    I only made my own because myself and my guys where not so keen on the hardcore aspect there..
    So I made my own with the help off others.. including Uro himself...this is what I love about this community.. we all help each other.. show each other ways and means etc..
    There is so much choice out there.. ( to much looking at each servers player levels sometimes) but bohemia has made a damn fine product and all you guys have added to it to make it the only thing out there I keep coming back to...
     
    Try the DLC's buy them or not totally your choice.. but I won't ever force a player to buy more than the arma 3 package period!
     
    Hope this clears up my attitude to DLC's and bohemia:)
     
    Get out there try the stuff buy the stuff but for god sake enjoy your playtime!

    @HiiShino if you want to run a server for a community I dont suggest yousing the a2 taviana map because its full of bugs and glitches (like you already realized) I'll quickly write down how to:

    1: put the aia folder inside your Server. create an folder called @Taviana and put the addons folder from Origins 1.7.9 inside. (there are only a few files needed but I can not remember which ones. if you load all there will occure some errors, but it should work anyway)
    2: download the Origins 1.7.9 key from Richie's post and put it inside your keys folder in your server.
    3: create a mission.sqm for taviana and put it inside a pbo called epoch.Tavi or however you want together with the standard description.ext which you can get from the Epoch.altis or any a3 mission file. (unluckily I'm not home atm but I'll share one mission file I created for taviana,tomorrow)
    3: Head in your SC folder, there edit the config.cfg and edit the part where you can see epoch.Altis to epoch.Tavi
    4: put the @aia and @taviana to your start parameters.

    for testing it I put all files from the Origins addons folder inside the taviana addons folder, put the signature check in the config on 0 and only let the needed files load. But it should work too with all the files. If not I'll write them down tomorrow when I'm home.
    BUT NOTICE : to get the vehicle spawn working correctly you have to brake the ToS (Don't do that!) . To get the spawn gullys working you have to modify the config.cpp which is inside the a3_server_settings pbo which you are allowed to edit. (you have to and an array for tavi, use altis as your template, set the world size to 25600 and edit the gullys then. to add traders and objects theres an other tutorial btw. But to make an community project out of it you have to modify and edit a lot! like in my short how to above its working but everyone who has some knowledge of arma scripting would kill him self when reading this :-D

    Aaa, if you find any grammar or writing mistakes be gentle with me. I'm not a native speaker as you might have noticed when reading it.

    An other thing I wanted to say. It's damn annoying to know that other people know how something is working but dont want to share it with others and just writing advertises in a thread somebody wants to know how it is working. That helps nobody!

    Allright,
     
    It took a while longer because there were some issues etc, but it's here.
     
    Over the past weeks I managed to get rid of loads of texture errors, config.bin errors and RPT spam from the @Taviana map.
     
    After some testing it's ready for a first release now.
     
     
    The purpose of this remake is to provide a single set of client files which all server hosts can use.
    This way all people who want to play Taviana will only have to download one set of files, which prevents confusion and problems.
     
    To do this, there is a couple of things that I'd like you all to consider.
     
    This is NOT finished. There might still be missing textures etc. (Haven't had one in 10 hours) Do NOT change stuff yourself in the client files. It would destroy the entire purpose of having one set of files. If you find any bugs/errors, feel free to contact me and maybe I can fix them in a next update.  
    Before anyone flaming that I post a link to my own forums for the download
    Because of the fact that the Taviana author does NOT allow Epochmod to talk/post/.. his work, I CANNOT post a direct download link here.
    I however can guide u to the topic that has it ;)

    Not feeling it at all. It lacks the original vibe of Chernarus and those A3 buildings don't look right on it. Respect for the skills and time put in though.

    I did not mean that using other players work is something bad. But I think most guys in here are using RiotControlGaming's mission.sqm without their agreement. If they would have sheared it ok. But most guys in here share their working mission file which is taken from RiotControlGaming.

    Dont steal other peoples mission files. Write you own one. It isnt that hard it looks like. (use the given templaet for example the altis one and change the cords. Some Informations: The respawn_west cords tell epoch where to spawn its spawn box.

    To help out on the Dev team and server owners i present you my current project i'm working on. This will allow you to manage your redis databases with a nice friendly user-interface. This will be handmade on the Epoch data structure. It will require a php-capable invironment.

    This is not an optimised build. Keep the html and php on the same host for this release. TCP redis should work if configured corretly ( not tested, so I can be wrong). Server data is saved in localhost in your browser for time being.

    Instructions:
     
    Unzip the folder in your apache enviremont ( xampp htdocs) for example. ( More info about this later).
     
    Add extra maps to the map folder if necessary (Not all are included in default download. Otherwise the size will get too big).
     
    Go to the server/config.php and fill in your server data ( if you want multiple servers on different IP's , i recommend making a server2 folder with that config then).
    $myRedisPass = "redispass"; $myRedisPort = 6379; $myRedisHost = '127.0.0.1'; // If php and redis are on the same server, this suffices IF PHP and REDIS are on different servers ( you need to open the redis Port on that server AND bind your public ip in redis config !)
     
    EXAMPLE in redis.conf: ( Restart redis to activate this).
    bind 127.0.0.1 38.17.135.190 Now browse to your folder in a browser.  ( localhost or externally).
     
    The webapp automaticly lets u add a server, fill in the data correctly or import an exported server.

    They are all custom except for the description.ext and the LSpawner code (modified by the RiotControlGaming team) in the mission file and the phone booth positions from Spear.

    Ok so here are some files to help some folks out.  Here is a working mission as well as the a3 epoch server settings pbo which contains Taviana teleporter positions, static trader positions, phone booth positions and loot container positions on the beach.  Much more needs done to make this 100%, such as trader "cities" to go along with the static traders, but since I don't plan to make a live Tavi server I won't be investing the time to create them.  It's easy enough to do with the A3 editors.  There are TONS of server and client RPT errors.  Some relating to missing PBOs and files from Origins and others from the loot spawner not having loot positions in building classes, but they do not affect the overall operation of the game.   I offer NO support for these files.  Just trying to help out.  Credit and thanks goes to Spear for the phone booth positions list posted a few posts back and also to the RiotControlGaming team for their modified LSpawner addon.
     
    ****IMPORTANT**** YOU MUST use the old AiA TP (2014 version) with Origins.  If you try to use the new 2015 version it will freeze up your Arma 3 client when loading into the map.  Consider too that other mods and/or servers may require the new TP version, so your players will have to keep both versions and know when to use each of them.  Quite a PITA if you ask me, but it is what it is.

    This has nothing to do with speaR's guide, you've added a script and haven't changed the filters, then post here for speaR to help you :rolleyes:
    This post is for players setting up an Epoch Chernarus server, script help belongs in the scripts thread, the answer has also been posted on the forum, go use search and don't be lazy :p
