imazdo
I would like to propose the creation of a common base cheaters Epoch, where server administrators could spread bans.txt to exchange information.
BetterDeadThanZed
This doesn't work and it's been discussed in many topics. No one can ensure the accuracy of the bans or the reason for them. TheVampire and Nic
choppra
Become friendly with other community owners and then share ban lists. Thats the best way to do it.
CrazyCorky
Every server has different reasons for bans. Or the admin could be a childish prick and ban for no reason... People are childish. It wouldn't work and would be overly abused. bFe
TheVampire
I've been banned from a good handful of servers for dumb stuff. Sometimes simply disagreeing with the admin has earned me a ban, which is up to that server owner of course because it's his server, but for him to share his banlist would be really stupid. Then you end up not only banning people but also having people need to repeal to multiple servers, and if the list isn't updated by the poster new admins could just keep coming along banning people who had already been cleared. The only way this works is if the multiple servers are part of the same group, otherwise it'll be a disaster. Can we kill this idea yet? It helps a lot actually. This is why I suggest if your Epoch server becomes popular you ask the larger communities to include you on their Ban List sharing. Many already do so now - you just don't know about it. You as an admin have the ability to unban anyone you want if they request it. I've only seen a dozen or so times where we unbanned someone because of a previous server ban. Everyone else, never bothered because they were banned probably for a good reason. KiloSwiss
In theory this is a good idea, mature admins, having rules that make sense, have a trained moderator team, the admins/moderators are active and not playing 24/7, no abuse of the administrator/moderator rights is happening, bans have comments, stating the reason for the ban, etc.But the reality is somehow different and far away from this.Too many hosters with 1-klick installation, allowing everyone and their dog to host a server these days.Sharing a banlist with all these mostly clueless, sometimes immature acting and/or totally casual players (they are players NOT admins) will end up in a big desaster for many innocent player.Greez KiloSwiss ispan55 and TheVampire

There is a difference between it being done by a few mature people compared to it being commonplace for every server where there may not be mature admins, or admins that even know where the bans.txt is. fr1nk
I have a bans list that includes people who don't like cheeseburgers, the number 7, doritos, and the color red. I've also bulk added everyone whose name starts with 'P'. Do you want my list? machine6fd, TheVampire and Nic
