DMstratz reacted to mimic in Our base after 3 Weeks solid work!!! Opinions as its finished?!
I'm not trying to cause a problem, or be rude or anything...
But that's part of the game. Just because you guys don't go around and try to break into other's bases, doesn't mean other people can't or won't either. Some people are bandits. This is what they do, and how they play. I'm a server admin, and I have players constantly complain about some guy breaking into their base and stealing vehicles, or building supplies. You know what I tell them? "Suck it up, it's part of the game, they haven't done anything wrong. Don't like it? Go do it in return then. Fight back." Why do you think walls and floors are destructible objects? It's so people can break in to them and steal stuff. That is one thing the developers have always stuck to, and it's why the game is made the way it is. If this scenario was real, you can bet your butt that people would be trying to break into your base to steal whatever resources you have. It's a PVP game at it's heart. I understand that there are those that prefer PVE, but you'll have to wait for custom servers to have that.
Personally, if someone is able to amass the explosives, or take the time to break into your base, then they deserve whatever they get. So quit your whining and go get revenge.
P.S.
It looked like a very nice base, which is probably why it was targeted. Maybe next time, less is more. A subtle base that doesn't look like much probably won't draw so much attention. It's how I do things, and so far it's worked very well for me.

The fact that this thread is still going is appalling. The amount of childishness here is insane. He messed up. He admitted to it. He's banned. Let it go. If he responds ignore him.

Hey.
Just like when you cut a rectangle out the wall for the door. it'd be cool to get an option
between door or window. as when you make a base that is fully enclosed you cant really see out of or anything like that so it'd be awesome to get upgradable hatches that open and close (slide or swing) so you're able to
see/shoot out of them.

see the layout of our base? multiple locked doors. and the plotpole just had solid walls around it. thats 4 layers to go through. all destroyed, plus 3 more layers. that would up to around 16-20 Satchels depending on how lucky their blast radius was. Best Admin force ever! they should really cut down on the shit haha

DMstratz reacted to boaby in defensive mines/traps for bases.
so please hear me out before you kick the shit outta me and my idea , I dunno if its been suggested in the past but what I was thinking is that within the 30m radar jammer radius you could place defensive traps that would persist until set off by an aggressor. these traps would be limited in number so as not to turn the area into a minefield and would persist over server restarts if they are placed within the boundaries of the radar jammer.
the same rules would apply to placing them inside the radar jammer area , being that only you or your squad can build there and all would get the location as if theyd placed them (ie the red triangle of death)
traps could be the mines and such already available in game but not limited to just that with some imagination and creativity :).

I like the bank system as long as there is some way to breach it.
If people can just group and lock loot indefinitely, I think that is a broken concept.

DMstratz reacted to Nic in Ridiculous Tipi Storage Size
The amount of storage a tipi has is way to low. Before 0.2, I could fit probably about 40 guns in one. Now, two lynx and a couple mags and the tipi is full. How do they devs expect us to store our gear? The cars have so much more room than the tipis. If I go out and get a car full of loot, I can't even offload it because I would need several tipis. Maybe having 40 guns in a tipi was OP, but only being able to fit 2-3 is ridiculous. At least make them comparable to the Arma 2 tents, where you could storage about 10 guns, 50 mags, and a couple backpacks. Not to mention that goats are pretty hard to find and they don't always drop pelts. Also, how I am supposed to hide 10 tipis of stuff where before I would only need to hide a couple? The tipi storage size really needs to be increased or there needs to be some form of easy to build storage container, perhaps out of wood.

DMstratz reacted to ficarra1002 in To the Devs - Please stay on the path you are currently on!
I am seeing a LOT of posts on here saying stuff like "X isn't realisitic" or "I hate the new enemies, bring back zombies" and so on and so on.
Please ignore these people. Please do. I really love the break from zombies, and the "We take ourselves seriously, super realism" and the constant rehashing of other mods (DayZ for example.)
Please, let A3 epoch be your original creation, I've been playing it for ~8 hours now and have loved it way more than A2 epoch. We don't need another DayZ rehash, and you guys seem to have some great ideas. Don't change them because of a few people wanting A3 DayZ Epoch.

To Craft Tipi Kit:
Lumber Packs (x2)
Scrap Pelt (x4)
-------------------------
Note: These items can be found naturally or purchased from a trader.
(Scrap Pelts-2 Krypto) (Lumber Pack- 3 Krypto) Total Cost - 14 Krypto.
Note: Only Official Servers will save your gear after restart.
found here - http://www.epochmod.com/servers.php
-------------------------
Finding Naturally:
Lumber Packs - Lumber packs can be acquired by chopping down trees.
To do this you will need to find a hatchet, these can be found in Rubbish Piles & Dustbins.
They are considered to be pretty rare so if you see one at a trader then buy it!.
Once you have your hatchet equip it in the secondary weapon slot. Walk up to a tree and
Left Click to strike the tree, this will place a wooden log on the ground. Each tree drops 4 logs.
To craft the Lumber packs required you will need 4 logs only. (1 tree)
Scrap Pelts - With the current bugged animals you can no longer collect scrap pelts from sheep/goats but don't worry you CAN still get them. With their cheap price in the shop like
the hatchet it will save you a lot of time trying to find them. buy any you can. But if you cant
find a trader to buy one of you can get them from sappers!. Sappers are the brown armless
creatures that will run at you and explode if they get to close. Kill these and they sometimes
drop Scrap pelts. They spawn in nearby when a player is killed. Listen for their groans.
-------------------------
Crafting The Tepee Kit:
Once you have your 4 Logs and 4 Scrap pelts you can craft the Tipi kit.
1. Double Click the Logs. Find "Lumber Packs" on the menu, change quantity to 2. and Craft.
2. Double Click the Lumber Packs and find "Tipi Kit" on the menu, click and Craft.
3. Thats it you have a Tipi kit ready to place. keep it in your inventory until you're ready.
-------------------------
Finding a Suitable Location:
NOTE: There are many different areas where you could place your tipi but i will go through some of
my preferences on placement in a secure and enclosed area.
Secluded: This is an obvious one but i will go over it. the more secluded and further away from
any other players the better. this is going to be for storing your hard-earned gear you don't want
it being stolen as soon as you place any items in it. There is more advantages to isolated bases
if you have a car as you can quickly go back and forth rather than having to run a very long distance to get back to your stash.
Use your map to find any areas that aren't near major towns. or near traders as these will frequently be visit to by other players. Good areas include:
- Northern Coast of Altis
- North Western Corner (north of Kavala)
- Southern Island (past Melanera bay)
- Atsalis (if you have a boat)
Buildings: Buildings offer a lot of benefits for stashing your gear, they are basically a free set
of cover from all sides so that you don't get taken out. not that you should be anywhere where
that could happen but that's irrelevant. Secluded buildings in the middle of no-where are very
unlikely to be checked by players so placing your Tipi in one of these "middle-of-no-where"
buildings has the potential to work quite well. i.e Old Farmhouses. Small Homes etc..
Reeds: Reeds are pretty much perfect when it comes to hiding your Tipis, with no collision
detection and almost 100% thickness it is almost impossible to see Tipis from the outside, most
of these Reed patches have an inside area totally enclosed by the reeds making your virtually
invisible to ground units. Finding a secluded spot with reeds will make your base basically undetectable. Unlike the building the only issues are with choppers flying over being able to see down into the reeds so when placing a tipi here make sure to get a considerable amount of the Tipi pushed into the reeds so it doesn't get sighted easily from the air. but there's a very low chance
of that situation occurring.
