redheart
We're currently playing on the Altis map and I was wondering if anybody knows where copters like to spawn? We checked the hangers at the airport and found a huey-alike in one but we're trying to get a cargo chopper to help ferry stuff and people around. Did we just get bad luck and need to keep checking in every day? Or are there other places they spawn?

It's that simple! :D
Moist_Pretzels
If only it was that simple though ;)
TheVampire
I kinda miss the days of vanilla DayZ where getting a working chopper was a big deal. Then DayZ Epoch comes along and it's like "Yeah let me just go pull out a briefcase and buy another Chinook"..... KPABATOK
I agree, helicopters should be hard to maintain and find. And especially to buy.
Moist_Pretzels
Vehicles overall should be hard to maintain, in Arma 3 I do find it a but weird that you need to find 1 Vehicle Repair Kit and 1 Salvage metal to effectively repair an entire vehicle. I kinda would like to see a sort of decay system to vehicles, but idk how hard that would be too code.
TheVampire
In DZMS I originally had planned to have an option where players would take damage to their tires if they ran over living AI. I think the issue with that was that getHit wasn't a command yet or something, and I was too inexperienced to figure out what tire to damage. RPG's solved the issue eventually. Some people did mines and 50 cals instead. A script that would slowly increase the damage to the vehicle while it was being driven wouldn't be too hard to do. Driving along in a beat up truck and the tire suddenly falling off would be great.
TheVampire
@KPABATOK @Moist_Pretzels If either of you run a server or anyone else interested you can all give this a shot. When I have time to fully test it and make a config area I'll post it as a script. https://github.com/SMVampire/Vamp-Vehicle-Degradation natoed

It's called a bush. :) He-Man, natoed and Moist_Pretzels
natoed
Thx working well along side tm4_fuelUptake.sqf http://tom4897.info/blog/2014/06/arma-3-scripting-increase-fuel-consumption/
TheVampire
@natoed I posted a thread on it here: You might want to update as the prerelease version had a lot of issues for me on dev server.
Moist_Pretzels
@TheVampire Is this pertaining to Arma 2 or 3? Because I'm not sure that it would be effective for Arma 3, unless you had Ryan's Zombies and Demons mod, but that's about it.
TheVampire
@Moist_Pretzels This is for Arma 3 Epoch. Not sure how it wouldn't be effective as long as the server admins also modified what it costs to make/purchase/acquire vehicle repair kits and etc. It can always be improved upon in the future by making vehicles get repaired in parts. Moist_Pretzels
@Vampire I wouldn't be surprised if in future updates they make vehicle repairing the same as in Arma 2, I would actually enjoy that more. If you were looking for a way to damage the car you might want to look into how cars take damage from stationary objects, rocks, etc and see what kind of code that it uses. It might be something similar to what you're wanting/looking for.
