BOUNTY HUNTING-mechanism

I suggest the following:

Implementation of a bounty hunting mechanism, basically programmed terminals where you can insert dog tags for krypto-payout. Here's how I suggest it works:

POSTING BOUNTY:

1. You've been killed by a player called AXLE.

2. You now have the option to post a bounty on AXLE.

3. To post a bounty on AXLE you need to go to a specially crafted terminal that takes the krypto and adds the bounty.

4. The terminal keeps track (high score list) of players with the highest bounty on them

CLAIMING BOUNTY:

1. You kill AXLE, and loot his corpse (taking his dog tags)

2. You insert the dog tags into the bounty machine, and withdraw a certain bounty amount from the account, depending on how long AXLE has been alive ( for example hours = percentage of payout, ie. 0.1hours = 0.1%, 100 hours = 100%)

3. When all bounty has been claimed, AXLE is taken off the bounty list, and thus has a "cleared name"

4. A player who has a bounty on them cannot claim the bounty of another player who has a bounty.

Comment here= Step 2, 3, and 4 prevents players in the same group from just taking the bounty of their friends. To get the whole bounty they have to be killed after quite some time, and a player who kills another player has to face the consequences of that (becoming a hunted man).

It would be cool indeed but...

The problem is this only works if AXLE has a base and people know where to find it.

Otherwise he would be killed just by chance and the bounty on him would only be a random prize for someone who kills him without knowing of the bounty.

There would be no real incentive to go and search for him since it would be quite impossible to find.

There should be a system who tells the bounty hunter where to find his target (approximately of course, not the exact coords).

Maybe a tool that tells him the direction of his objective without any distance indicator?

The other problem is you can't see people names so you can't tell who is AXLE and who is not.

A lot of people would get killed just to "try if it's him".

There should be a way to recognize him at close distance and maybe even when spotted with binoculars, rangefinder or scope.

If these two problems could be solved then it could be really fun and bounty hunter could become a "profession".

Also it could generate cool situations...

For example if more people place a bounty on someone, hence making it attractive for more than one bounty hunter or groups of them.

It could cause nice bounty hunters wars and defenses ;)

And it would add a lot more importance to bases because there would be a lot of sieges of bases to collect the bounty.

It should also be discussed if the person the bounty has been placed on should know of it.

So that he knows someone may be coming and decide where to defend himself (at base? at some other building which can be easily defended?).

This isn't for the Epoch team.. this is for a 3rd party to script.

You should get on a reputable A3 Epoch scripting website/forum and propose this to them.

Then you should rent a server so you can install this script..

Then you are golden!

It would work if there was a minimum amount you have to post for a bounty, the player with the bounty on them is then placed in a specific item of clothing (such as workers coveralls, still pretty neutral colour so not at a massive disadvantage, unlike an orange jumpsuit for eg) to mark them as 'price on head'

The minimum amount will stop people going up and putting 1 krypto on everyone. Bounties can only be placed on players who killed you in the last life so you'll need to earn the bounty back to place it. If you kill anyone in the meantime, you can't place the bounty. A 2-3k bounty would be nice. The time tied % of the bounty I think would be a bit offish, although imagine stalking your prey for as long as possible to get more money out of it.

It would add an interesting dimension to the game without it becoming too commonplace.

The bounty terminal/trader could be held in the spawn safezones.
