Matijs
Do vehicles unlock after restart? I changed the locktime to 24 hours, but just now someone said he's car was unlocked after restart? Is this a bug or is this a feature? Kind Regards, Matijs
horbin
vehicle lock/ownership is tied to server instance. At server reset, all vehicles are public. If you are the 1st to log in after a server reset, you have access to all vehicles.
nimh
Thought this might be the case also. Lots of servers advertise longer lock times but restart every 4 hours, perhaps this should be clarified in a comment next to the settings.
horbin
I don't think those admins understand it either :)
second_coming
Is this working as intended or are there plans to make locking vehicles permanent? On Arma2 Epoch I used to use a trigger in the database to refresh the ownership of a vehicle if the user had logged in recently and reset it if they hadn't. Is there a way of doing that using the redis db system?
Snakeyes
I'm not sure what the logic is with having all the vehicles unlock after a server restart. In A2 Epoch I use my vehicles to store gear/items since they remain locked until I unlock them.
nedfox
Until keys are introduced, no mechanism will help against restarts.. And even then, the whole system needs to be rewritten into unlocked cars (fresh loot spawn) and owned (bought) vehicles.

Keys are unnecessary imo, the way it works at the moment is fine if it didn't reset after the server restarts. Freshly spawned vehicles should just be unlocked unless bought from a vendor in which case they should be prelocked and linked to the person who bought them. Something like a 2 week time limit (server configurable ideally) on the lock would be fine if the timer was reset everytime the vehicle was relocked. That way if someone stops playing on a server after the predetermined time has passed it just unlocks and becomes available to anyone. Home Sweet Home
This should be top priority imo. Makes no sense to invest money in a vehicle or maybe even live out of it, until a base is established, when every sod can come along and unlock it after half an hour or every restart. It works (luckily) with doors, why not with cars?! At least we have useless Ferrie Wheels clogging up the servers.
SkyDogs
I suggested having a lock system For vehicles similar to the base doors. Electronic components and a scrap metal craft thing. piX

Your option at the moment is build a lockable garage :)

There must be a way that you could bind vehicle ownership to a players GUID. Personally, I would rather they do away with keys all together. Osiris72
Be nice if the vehicle lock was tied to the freq. jammer. As long as the vehicle was within the radius of the jammer, it stays locked / unlocked through a restart. Everywhere else is acts as it does now. Shadow Moses
Change log is yo friend. [Added] Vehicle lock time is now stored in hive and will persist across server restarts.
