  1. Yeah I use SteamCMD with the barebones Arma 3 dedicated server download.

I even tried it on a fully 100% stock reinstall, the bare minimum required to run Arma 3 and the performance issues were still there.

Did anyone whos getting issues manage to try it on a non-epoch mission? Its possible its the redis? Missing an additional install of something?

I really don't know what the issue could be here, I'm out of options now, I don't understand why its only affecting a minority.

  2. I figured out, that if a player opens up a Trader (mostly the guys in Spawnzones) with much loot in it, the framerate drops and the CPU rises. I deleted all the Traders loot and it does not happen anymore. Well i need to monitor this the next few days but so far no High CPU usage...

Nice work, sorry I didn't get back to you since teamspeak, I really have been so busy I'm a stranger even to the CPC admins at the moment!

  3. I'm having this exact same problem, I've reported it to the BI developer Dwarden but he shrugged it off as my problem which isn't helpful I know but its good (and bad) to know that others are having the same issue.

I don't see why the server.exe would need to max out the CPU for any reason.

  4. What has this ^ got to do with this v ? Please read before spouting .

My reply was to the following quote, please read before spouting yeah? ktnx.

You do realise people learn from their mistakes?

If you have pro active admins and know how to read logs then you shouldn't need this. Unless the ban was recent.

  5. My account is and always has been clean, ever since 2003 when I opened it so I have zero sympathy for 'ex-cheaters' as I've never ever been one.

If people are falsely banned it is down to that player to speak to the anticheat that banned them and if that anticheat won't listen, it is down to that player to expose the ignorance of the anticheat and get something done about it, I have no doubt that the majority of people and by majority, I mean a huge majority that are banned are banned for a legit reason but there are of course false positives, that is inevitable but those false positives if done on a large scale are quickly rectified.

If you are banned for using enhancements to games that are not considered cheats in your eyes but make the game look better for example, that is the risk you take and it is for this reason that I do not modify the games I play unless I am 100% sure that I will not be banned for it. Examples would be: SweetFX (which for a while was getting people banned, so I was glad I never used it). Its common sense that any alterations made to a game, regardless of how small may get you banned and if you can't see that then everydays a school day for you.

Mistakes or not, those who cheat online have a certain mentality and that is one of complete disregard for other people who play legitimately on those servers regardless of the game they play and once a cheater, always a cheater. If you want to reconcile your mistake then you can pay the cost of having to bury that persona, buy a new game/account, having to deal with the awkwardness of swapping accounts if you have lots of games on your 'cheater' account and learn your lesson the hard way. Frankly, most people who are 'ex-cheaters' are only sorry because they got caught, not because they ruined the game for other people.

It's easy to lose someone's trust, but very difficult to gain it back. In life, temptations are put in front of us to challenge our loyalty and respect.. remember that. -Some unknown quote I found a long time ago which I feel is pertinent to the above.

  6. We're running the VAC bans, once a cheater always a cheater, even if it was your brothers sisters pet hamster that did it. Kit security 101, look after your own shit if you have untrustworthy shites in your house.

If I could link other anti cheats such as punkbuster, I would.

  7. You can put your own scripts in, it is down to you to work it out on how to do it without modifying the base code of Epoch.

If you run a server side 'addon' then you can do it, which is what the developers want rather than directly modifying their code. It makes things easier to find problems and solutions and makes things easier for people to install addons and mods, all mission side scripts can be run server side with the exception of images I believe, though I believe you are able to modify the clientside mission file but don't quote me on that.

It is down to you or your favourite mod creators to step their games up.

  8. I dont know if its been mentioned but one thing that always comes round as agreement of a good idea with bases and even 'owned' vehicles in DZE was that they should be destructible... IF that player is/has been online during this restart. Then you must decide whether or not you leave a man behind to defend or risk it for getting more loot/bigger group advantage out in the wilds.

The biggest issue though was always duping and duping explosives or glitching vehicles to a point where they repeatedly 'bang' off the sides but its not a huge problem if you have someone in your base to defend as they can see it happen.

You could argue that people would remember names, easily solved by changing names if you want some quiet time on the server.. though this would be server specific and tbh I think the player list shouldnt be visible anyway, only perhaps a player/population count just so you know what server to play on mostly without lots of trial and error.

I definitely don't think that bases should be easily destroyed if you're not online to defend it, its not even against those who are your usual enemy but those in different time zones, those with different work patterns or waking hours even in your same timezone, in the spirit of 'fairness without using realism' it makes the most sense to make your base vulnerable if you are online to defend it and perhaps if you don't login within 7 days, it is then vulnerable again.

Its far too easy to destroy anything in Arma if no-one is looking and often difficult to prove without spectating in most cases, leave it down to the players to self regulate and it removes a burden from admins who should be there as a last resort.

  9. Yeah I'm amazed the hardcore server isn't more populated but there are a few unofficial servers up.. even so, I thought we'd need more official servers tbh!

I know some people are worried about server wipes while servers are 'official' and don't want to 'waste their time' but as for your OP:

Once apon a time, someone in DayZ died..

"This sucks!" was what the blue writing tagged (Side) read

"What sucks?" came the reply from a curious server owner

"Dying and not having to do any work to get back to where I was before" the impatient corpse whined

"I can solve that, run 100m to get fully geared" a naive but honest reply popped up on the screen

"Oh man, thats just way too hard still and this other server just gives you an AS50 on spawn, I'm going there" the final nail in the coffin read.

With that one short story, DayZ and Arma were ruined to anyone who even remotely wanted some kind of challenge.

It is just a matter of time, the popular servers will be the ones with bambi scripts and addons, places you can easily gear up when you die and quick travel around the place. Sadly this is what will attract the big youtubers which will bring the population in tow, unless of course the server is already busy.. that alone tends to attract people. Once in a while though, a cool feature is added like snap building or crafting or something but these are almost novelties and 'extras' to the 'real' features people wanted like self bloodbag or spawn with everything to craft a bike.

What we need is for a 'big name' to try out hardcore and actual survival but I know they often make videos in a rush so require some 'help' or features that make it quicker for them.

I've always been an advocate of making people run forever when they die as a risk to dying as there isn't much else you can do, especially when people turn the loot frequency up.. what people want, is to be able to get back within 5 minutes and carry on.. and to me this doesn't make it fun, I want to know I can clear out people, loot and go away without counting in minutes I have to loot and cleanup on one hand.

  10. I wish this many people would rally for first person only! I really can see the bambis winning out though.

People complaining its too hard because they dont have a controller or joystick.. soon they'll be crying because they cant aim as fast as someone else because their IRL reactions arent good enough, so we'll all end up with 1 hp, 1 gun, 1 bullet and 1 button.. who ever presses the button makes both people accurately shoot at each other and you both die at exactly the same time. There you go, now thats fairness right!?

The funny thing is, you would have had to learn how to use the old flying system and at first even that can be a bit of a nightmare, then you learn it and its fine. People dont like change because they're lazy
