    Greetings folks,
     
    Just started playing Epoch about a month ago, and I must say, its trully how dayz should be! I am very excited about the new update coming soon and cant wait for more in the future. It is trully an amazing experiance and myself and a bunch of friends have come out of "retirement" just to play and enjoy dayz again because of epoch.

    We never set a date for patches. They are done when we feel they are ready.

    Hello there,
    while some of you may know me, or maybe not directly but have seen ctc-gaming.com here and there, for a couple of downloadable Offline-Maps around DayZ (Taviana, Isla Duala, Napf to name a few), i've now decided to up the anthe a bit and provide clean maps for your viewing pleasure powered by leaflet & also provide the chance to download them in one central place.
    This is, by no means, to start a fight with dayzdb.com, who provide nice lootspots for the popular maps out there (even though they used my created taviana-map w/o asking and don't answer when writing them if they want their own, personalized, version of it instead of the one with the ctc-gaming wartermark on it [check the south-west airfield on dayzdb.com]), it's more like a clean alternative w/o any lootspots and just a high quality map that you can zoom, pan & download. (Should also work & look nice on your mobile/tablet, including ingame-coordinates!).
     
    So as far as Epoch goes, I've also included the (1.0.1.5) default traders + links to the corresponding wiki-pages, in case you need to quickly look something up.

    PS: Yeah I know the icons are quite silly for the epoch map, but for now it's just google image search, I'll get better ones once my gfx-artist friend has some spare time.
     
    €dit: As i'm still developing the "API" / "framework" behind all that and just started using leaflet this night, feel free to post bugs / problems in this Thread aswell.
    Realized 'Epoch Resources' would prolly be the better place, if a mod could move the topic... would be awesome :)

    Towns will never have "Safe Zones" Unless some creative/purpose driven system can be added. There will be no "Magic Bubble" to save you from the bandits. The point of the mod is to encourage "Team Play" or Squad based playing. By this we would hope that you and your friends would work together. When heading to a trader city would be smart enough to.... Clear the city and it's limits before entering, have a good plan as to what business you have to conduct to make things faster, and GTFO before bad things happen. I know this works because we have done it before. Even if we lose a player or two, the bandits usually get the "Shit end of the stick". Honestly all we lose is a few outfits and some time as we have to pick up the people who died.
     
    Having 40 10oz gold bars in your safe and then complaining about just 6 to buy a plot pole is kinda silly if you ask me. However, we "Might" be adding a feature to counteract losing your plot pole after death. It will probably work close to the same way keys work. As in, if you place a plot pole down you will get a "Deed" This deed can be kept in your safe or on your person. So if you die you will be able to get your deed back and reclaim ownership over the plot of land. This is not set in stone and can be changed at any time if we feel it needs it.
     
    Black market weapons are not finalized and will probably have weapons shifted around accordingly.
     
    Playing as a Zombie if great fun on full servers with loads of people playing on the coast. Besides most people that want to play as a zombie are just bored of the average bump and grind and looking for a change. But I do agree with you. Most players that don't choose to be a zombie just want to die so they can continue on with their quest for riches and glory.
     
    As for player safes, I think it's a great idea that if you tag friendly it shouldn't matter if they are near. You can obviously trust them. At this time it's a dupe prevention addition. Until a better way can be found this will be apart of Epoch. I do understand that it can be troublesome but it helps keep the playing field level.
     
     
    Thanks for your feedback and I hope you can understand why we are doing these things. Please leave any feedback you can because we do look at it and try to come to a compromise so players can enjoy the mod even more.

    to destroy the basis of other players is danger of being discovered and killed ...
    but it is realistic....
    the only security you have is personal safe .. and it is already so much ..
    I come from another mod where the houses were closed .. but it is better to an open house in epoch mod, less certainty , that a million of lies and bullshit of retarded devs...
    epoch mod as it is now is still the best ....

    Thanks for your feedback! Borrowing concepts and ideas from all available sources is not exactly what I would call creativity. Epoch is more successful that I ever imagined it would be and everyday more players are finding out about it. I feel the reason there are so many servers is that there is at least as many people that wanted to have their own server to experience epoch in. Some have even decided to customize their servers in ways I do not particularly approve of, but hey that isn't even possible to do in most mods.
     
    Persistent storage has been a feature of epoch for a long time, even before Origins had "player housing". Whether it be in the form of a house or a safe the same goal is obtained. You get killed while your safe is unlocked it can be raided, once again the same goal is obtained.

    So you are basically saying that you want to carry all of your keys/items on you so when you die you have the chance to lose everything?
     
    As for the trading system... If you are in a trader city and it's not secure you should think twice about entering it by yourself. Epoch is not very "Solo" friendly.
     
    When I visit a trader city I make sure to clear the area, have a few friends to help me keep it secure. Do my business and GTFO. Even if I get shot in the back of the head my friends are there to clean up the mess. In the end all I lose is some time and one outfit. Fairly rare that we go to a trader city and get destroyed. But it has happened, that's just DayZ. 
     
    But I like the fact that I need certain tools/items to do different things. I would be pissed if I was able to hold every single item on my toolbelt and then lose it because I got killed or died and my body disappeared. My safe keeps my extras safe from dirty little bandits and the melting dead man glitch.
      However we do look at the feedback you guys give and are looking into ways to not make it such a  "Pain in the ass". I hope this helps you understand why things are going to mainly be this way.

    Would be nice to see excelsior bridge mod added to the official Epoch mod. Its basically a well edited bridge linking Skalistky island to the main land.

    Better controls for deleting vehicles. We have loads of vehicles that are next to useless that arent deleted by our auto  or manual clean ups because they arent 100% destroyed.
     
    You could always set the database auto delete to delete vehicles that are 98% damaged etc

    I can see adding a chance to break the tools used to remove an Item, it can also have a higher chance based on construction count.
     
    For the next patch I will be changing the model of the plot pole to something we can get a cursor target on so we can allow removing the plot pole.
