Players losing gear in backpack after restart

So has anyone else had issues with having the backpack inventory completely wiped in 1.0.4.2a?

Only time I've seen this is when a player is in a vehicle and they lose connection (can be either client and server side fault).

This was added way back in 1.0.2.4:

 

• [ADDED] If you logout near another player your backpack contents will be wiped. It it very important you do not logout next to another player. Change with DZE_BackpackGuard Default: true;

 

Not sure if that's what happened in your case.

Shouldn't it give you a dialog message if you try to log out too close to someone else?  That's kinda shitty if it wipes your pack without giving you  a warning first to give you a chance to fix it.

Yes penguin that's pretty much the case.  We usually give the players one mulligan when the server is not busy otherwise we force the players to deal with it.

If you don't like that feature you should put DZE_BackpackGuard to false. Also, make sure your players disconnect at enough time before it effectively restarts. Depending on server load, server sometimes needs 1 to 2 minutes in order to process the disconnect of a player
