Darth_Rogue Posted January 25, 2015 Report Share Posted January 25, 2015 I've got Namalsk up and working. There are minimal glitches, all of which are easily fixable, and only a single popup error. There's still a good volume of work to do though. Once I get everything situated I'll share the files. Will probably be a few days though. Still have to set up trader cities, add some Arma 3 buildings for Epoch loot spawns (chairs, couches, etc.), phone booths/ATMs, and dial in the vehicle spawn quantities for the map size. knights†emplar and ZENITHOVMAN 2 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
knights†emplar Posted January 25, 2015 Report Share Posted January 25, 2015 Namalsk looks so much nicer in A3 than it does in A2... however, just this evening i discovered how glitchy this map is!!! i finally figured why so many server owners have shut there servers down... and the ones that are live have hardly any players.... Sadly you can count me out, the only fix would be block off sections of cities where terrain glitches start to happen, but there are too many of them and blocking sections off only going to make the map even smaller than it already is! It about time the devs of Namalsk take ownership and adapt it for A3, otherwise when all arma2 players move to a3 it will die off! until then its mission impossible! Nemaconz Posted April 23, 2015 Report Share Posted April 23, 2015 My goal is to bring back the bloodsuckers, zombies too if I can. I'm merging the mods as we speak, problem I am running into is that all the Namalsk addons want arma 2 addons to run, and then when you add the arma 2 addons, those addons require other addons to work, I'm gonna end up merging all the arma 2 addons just to get this to work at this rate. In order to get the bloodsuckers working I'm going to need those addons to get them to work. But by doing this I may be crossing lines that I should not be crossing. Don't know if I would need special permission to use those Arma 2 addons if I got this working and wanted to distribute it for everyone to use. I previously got permission from Sumrak to do whatever I wanted in regard to using his addons from Namalsk just as long as it wasn't for commercial purposes so I'm covered there. knights†emplar Posted April 23, 2015 Report Share Posted April 23, 2015 well you cant just merge addons and expect it all to work in A3 without adapting the code, the map addon yes can be done like that, this is how pretty much all maps got ported from A2 to A3, except that Namalsk requires someone with terrain knowledge and free time to fix it up and maybe give it some arma 3 TLC.. I do want to be able to utilize the some special buildings like the underground lab and wouldn't mind being able to get the ultimate weapon to work along with the zombies but the goal is the bloodsuckers. I'll take it in babysteps. I remember when it took me weeks to figure out how to get bloodsuckers working outside of Namalsk Crisis for Arma 2, I expect no different here. I'm a patient man. The Arma 2 files will not be used for any other reason than to satisfy the requirements of the Namalsk mod, basically they'll just sit there and make the Namalsk addons happy, I'm not going to try and use them. Nemaconz Posted April 24, 2015 Report Share Posted April 24, 2015 Well first thing first let me get the mod working correctly (if that is possible). I've added all the files need to make it work along with all the appropriate supporting Arma 2 files. Now my problem is the mission.sqm, I've edited it correctly but I am getting some preprocessing errors with it, error #7. I've looked it up and I think my problem is that I have not re-encrypted it. I'm trying to use rapify and DeRap but the programs don't seem to be working correctly, either that or I'm screwing something up. I think if I can get that mission.sqm encrypted again the way it is supposed to be that I'm gonna have a working product that I can begin working on. The standalone .pbo is a last case scenario, I'd rather use what is out there to make it work instead of reinventing the wheel, so we'll see. I spoke with Gen0cide who seems to have a solid grasp on encrypting the mission.sqm so hopefully he can help get me sorted and I can move on with getting this working. The problem is that SO many conflicts arise it's just not practical at this time. Creating a download based on using the default files of Namalsk is just not going to equal a good playing experience. Luckily I've met a group of very talented individuals who are actually working on three different mods, one of them is a new Stalker mod. (Basically Namalsk Crisis) I'm going to talk with Sumrak and ask for permission to help revamp his mod so we have his ok to recreate the Bloodsuckers and Namalsk map along with the zombies and other items. I wouldn't expect this mod out anytime soon but I'm confident it will come to fruition in time. So at this point, using the Arma 2 Namalsk Crisis files is pretty much a no go, not without extensive work to make it compatible with Arma 3.
