outseeker
When I found out I had to maintain my built objects every so often, I wasn't opposed to the idea. Without any way to tell what needs maintenance when though, it's really really bad if you enjoy building a large base with and for a group of friends. Please give us a visible timer on a scroll option, or perhaps degrade the appearance of the object when 2 days remain for example by perhaps spawning a broken version inside of the object that isn't actually solid, it's just to appear damaged? Much love in advance!
Gimmic
I know visual degredation is in the plans for future patches. Personally, it would be nice if there was a central way to maintain your buildings. Maybe something like a "Maintenance crate" that you could place mortar, lumber, plywood etc. It would give you a mousewheel option to 'maintain all' and apply the needed parts to the needed structures. This way it isn't automated, but isn't as much of a hassle if you have the parts.

Komplex
It would be great if they could do a "maintain all" option via a plotpole. That way you could maintain everything within say 60 meters. I guess the trick would be for large bases, you wouldn't be able to hold all the materials needed for the maintenance in your inventory. So maybe something like Gimmic's idea of having a placeable storage item you can set down and fill with everything it needs. I feel like a basic maintain all might be easy to implement as crafting system and maintenance options already knows if you have the correct materials/amounts on you. That's awesome they're planning it, but if Maintenance is implemented we absolutely need a maintenance management system at the same time. I love your idea of maintenance crate! Even if it were to have a limited range, and if you scroll and select an option on it to hilight what walls/floors etc. it will keep repaired provided you keep repair materials in the crate. One crate per room or something seems totally reasonable to me! Best idea ever
outseeker
Surely it would be almost no work to display the stored timestamp of a modular building object when you look at it? ie. change the existing prompt to read Maintain Small Wall (xx:xx:xx remaining)? Please, Epoch is all about the base building if I'm not mistaken- it's ultra important that we are able to keep our base from disappearing on us! Creep
As I understood the part of Maintain its for repairing walls and help the Server to cleanup theirselvs... why dont you just leave the maintainoption like it is now and add a option to verify that the one build the Wall needs to be online in thoose 7 Days
mikeloeven
the problem is that the default timer is too short and should be increased to a more reasonable time like 1-2 months instead of a week especially in a game that is supposed to be realtime
Ratcatcher
I agree with a lot of these suggestions. Myself and a friend have been building a rather ambitious base converting a large barn. We have been putting a new level into it as we'll as building a heli pad. Now things are starting to disappear! I understand the need to keep a handle on resources from a performance point of view, but the maintaining of all the individual parts just makes it a chew, especially as we have no visual indicator as to when each individual part is about to expire. As some have suggested a central all encompassing maintenance option would work, using the plot pole as suggested by Komplex sounds like a great idea! This mod is all about base building please don't make it's main selling point it's main weakness!
BetterDeadThanZed
Along these lines, I just posted this in the mods forum, not knowing about this topic: http://dayzepoch.com/forum/index.php?/topic/2434-request-last-maintained-menu-option Maybe a new feature for a future version of Epoch?
