MatthewK
After updating my client through steam today, I managed to log into my server and play for about 2 minutes when all of a sudden I kicked disconnected with "Authentication Timeout" . My provider have no clue what's going on and they are also having the same issues when they connect to their test server. Anyone else had this, got a fix maybe ? Apparently, this could be due to steam being overwhelmed with people updating. But seriously, if players are going to get kicked because steam isn't answering, then we're all ****ked, because Steam is worse than BE for going AFK .. :(
calamity
I have same issue however other people are playing on my server just fine
MatthewK
TBH I'm getting sick of this shit. Everytime an update comes out, in one form or another, it breaks my server for days on end and I lose what little player base I'd built up, over and over again. You never seem to get a straight answer from the guys doing all the shit either, it's just a total utter shit storm of "make does" ... Sorry, just fed up that all I'm getting from my provider is "This is a steam issue, you just have to wait", when like you say, it only effects come players, not all.. Fk Steam! Edit: This is going to be a real game breaker for people flying helis. Because BE is bad enough with timing out, let alone the added timing out that Steam is evidently bringing to the table.. MatthewK
I think that fix was for people running DayZ Standalone. I remember that having the same issues at one point. I don't have that folder in my documents either.
Chris9183
Same issue here, I don't use a hosting service, I've got my own infrastructure here where I live, do it all myself. Rebuilt a fresh epoch vanilla test server from the steam update, able to join for a few seconds, then Authentication Timeout. I don't think it's a Vilayer issue, it's an issue with either Epoch, or the Steam update. Not much we can do right now.

Check those, that's what I'm thinking :)
MatthewK
My service provider GamingDeluxe are starting to piss me off now. I'm telling them, the issue is when I'm connecting with the latest STEAM PATCH through STEAM, NOT DZC!!! And they are replying "i'm connecting through DzC now and it's working" ffs... Do you think people just read what they want to read? I personally think that those people who have it working, have forgotten to mention something. Chris9183
If it were a firewall issue you'd never be able to connect to start with, as port 2302 would be blocked. It's the steam update or Epoch.

icomrade
This is due to running more than one server without specifying separate steam ports. Define a value for these 2 settingslike so for each of your servers in their server.cfg steamPort = ServerPort - 1; steamQueryPort = ServerPort - 2;

Mystykall
This seems like a setup issue, and not patch/mod issue.

Surely you can't just pick a random port?
