  1. Looks like this has reared its head again. There are graphical tools out there that seem to be able to automate the lock cracking process. I have seen video footage of a tool that seems to take advantage of a colour pixel on the lock which provides information to help the cracker?

The example I saw took just a few minutes and even automated the reopening of the lock panel after the 10 second timeout.

  2. The problem I have is when working in a 1x1 Wooden tower. I can snap the walls together in a square and even stack them using the snapping, but the 1/2 and 1/4 floors won't snap and they are too far infront of the player to lay properly in such a confined space.

I would love the ability to move the piece towards you and away from you in the same way that we can move up and down.

    Thoughts?

  3. But you are going to run into random problems every time trying to bootcamp and game. The laptop was not designed to do that in the first place.

At the end of the day its just hardware with an OS over the top. The machine is staggering for a work laptop, it's a portable compute workhorse, but your right it's not designed for gaming.

All that said, the new effects really serve no purpose (unless I'm missing something) and to be honest just look silly.

  4. A little friendly advice to people considering posting your base on here... don't put what server it's on. Within 12 hours of posting my images above, some spineless cheap asshats glitched through the walls and trashed the base walling us in/out with spare materials (wire, traps, sheds, etc) after removing the plot poles.

  5. This is our current base, situated on the farm land between Cherno and Balota on a Chernarus Epoch server. It's my third base and was built in partnership with Mada.

    • The facility is built in a 5x5-3x3-5x5-3x3-5x5 layout (ground floor is double high)
    • It has ground and roof chopper pens with all walls double layered for protection (we have several groups who crack bases with .50 Cal)
    • It is managed by 8 locked small and garage doors with a central mezzanine area on the ground floor and a viewing platform on the roof with scenic views of Cherno and the coast.
    • It was planned in detail before we started and took 2-3 weeks to complete with countless hard earned briefcases of gold spent.
    • On our server Cinder and Mortar are available to purchase for 4 Silver at traders and Metal Panels are 3 Gold each.
    • The server is full on PVP andthe building was completed under constant never ending threat of attack. I was shot at many times while laying walls, was even killed 2-3 times in the process.

We're pretty much finished now, with only a few patches of wood floors to chop out and replace with metal where there are some slim gaps in the floor due to the sizing disparity between cinder and flooring.

The NSA are coming over later to discuss you loaning the rig to their computational sciences arm.

I have not noticed a frame rate rise, but it could be noticed numerically by people checking that stat constantly in some overlay or debug addon. I have noticed a frame rate hit whenever I see the new "ground clouds". Nothing earth shattering, but noticeable.

  7. The people with fps issues need tp upgrade their rigs. I dont have any fps issues with 2.5 patch.

Thats the dumbest thing I've heard this week. Not everyone is in a position to go out and buy new hardware to accommodate such a pointless addition. Some people are running it on Laptops

For the record Im running ARMA on a Win7 BootCamp partition of a $4,000 MacBook Pro Retina connected to a 27" high res Dell monitor. The machine will beast computational math and compilation, has a dedicated 1GB 650 graphics card and easily runs DayZ, but the particle effects really seem to kill it.

While I am in the process of speccing a new workstation build it certainly won't be for pointless fluffy white clouds at ground level.

  8. I'm just curious what effect you people are talking about. The only new thing I noticed are these little puffs of white smoke that go by occasionally, but no local fog effect...

Bloody annoying is what it is. It's like it was created by the same people who created that dancing monkey toy with the symbols. Nobody wants it but it was put in anyway.

Take this pointless frame rate sucking annoyance out PLEASE.

  9. Not always the case. I've had a Little Bird and Blackhawk I purchased after building my helipad fall through after a restart, while other aircraft on the platform have been fine. I "resurrected" the Little Bird through the database and it hasn't fallen through since.

Depends on how flat your metal floor is. Which was very tough to do until recently with the small increment moves.

Also, LBs damage by sneezing on them. I have had one occasion where I had overlapping panels and one quite soft landing in a LB blew everything red because there was a 2cm lip at the overlap!

Also where there was a non-flat overlap the skid got caught which caused it to sink on restart. Once the floors are perfectly level it seems to be OK.

This should all be resolved if vehicles spawn last, but still LB, while great, are the little fairy princess of DayZ. Buy lots of Smurf plasters for their grazed knee boo boos.

  10. will monetize any damages to said structures and choppers if for some reason its not a blanket fix for every server config ?

Erm, no. LOL what an odd comment. If you're worried about the gold I'd advise against buying choppers until you have enough to maintain them.

I have tested this personally with my own vehicles though. Lost a few and saved a few. The logic to the fix is sound so far and I've demonstrated one approach in code that ensures vehicles are loaded last. It just needs to be tested on a server, until then buy your choppers after you build the floor.

  11. Built a metal floor landing pad last week, bought a civil mi-17 today and it survived the server restart fine, no damage and no falling through.  dayz.st no changes to server, no addons.

People, please read the thread before posting.

If the floor is built BEFORE the vehicles is bought it will work because at startup the objects are loaded in the database in the order they are created. So the metal floor laid last week will spawn before the chopper. If you tried it with an older chopper it would fall through because when it spawns in the floor is not loaded yet.

The reasons why this happens are known, all that remains if for someone to put the code in to load all vehicles LAST. The code I have already posted should, in principle, work.

  12. Given that the dimensions of the cinder walls do not match that of the Metal Floor/Ceiling we spend a stupid amount of time and money laying metal floors to cover 0.5 meter gaps in the ceilings.

It would be much better if we could construct 1/2 Metal Floor from 2 x Metal Panel. We can then plug the gaps created by this indiscrepancy in the sizing without wasting resource.

This would lead to the obvious 2 x 1/2 Metal Floor for a full Metal Floor. It would be a simple matter of slicing the existing metal floor model in half and adding a couple of extra classes.

    Thoughts?
