If I may shed some light from the PVE side of things. Its no fun logging in at your base to have shots fired from any which way not knowing how many people are out there taking shots at an "empty" base just to find your vehicle/s already destroyed etc.
My first request would be that a base be indestructable if the owner or group owning the base is offline, there is no fun in working days on gathering the resources to build a base to only have it destroyed by a bunch of 12 year olds out on school holiday.
Then also the community must needs realise that not all players have the ability or the means to join numerous servers due to infrastructure contraints and various other reasons. We here have 6 servers to choose from with pings lower than 200ms, none of them are PVE only. So if I want to play Epoch I'm forced to take part in PVP even if its not what I enjoy. I enjoy the random spawing baddies, Sappers, drones, looting and building but a player camping out on a tower with a nightstalker trained at my base waiting for me to login not as much. In the past two weeks we had to defend our little piece of Altis 8 times. Sometimes even twice on the same day. It resulted in us building an extra base just to have a place to hide away for a bit, taking up additional space in the world counter etc.
So after spending some time thinking about this I came up with a couple of ideas that will aid both PVP and PVE players playing on the same servers.
1. Once you place an explosive on a base panel (ie in range of jammer) your own jammer is flagged for PVP, making your own base attackable for a period of time (admin adjustable).
2. Have "safe zones" for building with a built limit per jammer (for instance 50 pieces instead of 100), if you want a base the size of fort Knox go build in the danger zone.
3. Have players flag themselves for PVP or PVE. Once flagged that persists for an amount of time (admin adjustable)
4. Bases of players offline are by default indestructable but once they log in the return to normal.
I know this might not be to everyones taste however I do think it might encourage larger numbers on servers as well as allowing both PVP and PVE to share the same servers. Epoch is not just a PVP or just a PVE mod its both, just need some way to give both parties an equal share of the pie
sorry but I think this is a horrible idea with too much work involved to get it off the ground ,
1. how would this even work? would it show on map? how they know which base is yours? .. again awful idea.
2. separate safe zones for pve players I just don't like the sound of this at all
3. flagging themselves for pvp/pve how would this even work? how will you know who is who? is it broadcasted to the entire server? seems as though this just negates any kind of stealth.
4. the only way I see a compromise is if the base was a little stronger when offline and normal damage when online. that way they can still try and breach your home while offline but it will cost more in explosives and time , having it indestructible just leaves it open to abuse , oh my base just got attacked I better logout so it doesn't get damaged.
if you want this stuff id suggest making your own pve server. as a pvp player I would have no interest in any of these ideas except maybe 4. , where the base isn't indestructible but maybe a little stronger while your sleeping , even when online and you logout your base will be normal damage for a period of time so you cant abuse it and run away from a fight.
or if you could make jammers indestructible , that way they can breach your walls and doors , steal your stuff but your "hard work" of building a base isn't ruined by "12 year olds" who enjoy this type of play. so when you logon your precious base is still mostly intact , only some wall/doors will be down and some of your hello kitty lunchboxes would be gone.
Epoch for me is about building a base , preparing it for raids and building up supplies to go on base raids .. you take this away and epoch quickly loses its essence and becomes a shell of what its supposed to be.

I can understand some frustration but at the end of the day BI is a business , I don't know many businesses that can continually update a product for free and still remain in business. They have to pay staff and overheads to work on the game , therefore charging a small price for DLc is perfectly reasonable. I like to think of the DLC as my donation for them to continue to support and update the base game.
should more weapons and systems been added to the base game before shipping? yeh maybe so , but I bought it and have almost 2000 hours played. im happy to pay for more DLC if they continually improve the game and release content.

I don't really care which system it is , epoch anti hack or BE client , I think were all aware that it needs changed.

any chance of a response to this , we now know that the BE terrain detail is set too low and thus gives floating rocks/vegetation and unrendered ground at elevation.
can someone please either confirm or not that the BE filter will be forced to 12.5 or in the very least let it be server admins choice , this is the one thing that really kills the game for me.

in my experience the pole is tied to whoever placed it , not the group. the group is added by the leader and hes the ones who placed it , my best guess would be that if you kick the leader and form another group then that base is his as its his plotpole. though im not completely sure what the circumstnces will be when you make a leader , place a pole then kick the old one. if the pole is still there then I think both might block each other as its different groups and youll be unable to build.
what is "stuck in geometry?" like glitched into a rock or building? can you even see it without having to glitch through stuff? as that seems a little of the cheating side of the coin there. it may be for "safety reasons" , but even the road to hell was paved with good intentions.

Load up arma and check if the extension is active , if not then activate and restart , then once restarted uncheck the epoch mod again and restart. This should clear out any residual epoch files running.
this usually does the trick for me if im having issues switching between breaking point , epoch and vanilla arma.

Yeh I made a thread about this a while back , our server admins will be changing it soon I hope once the 0.3.1 initial test is over I guess .. its an immersion killer and a very poor oversight to have let it keep creeping back in with every update.

Hi there , me and my friends have been playing on the GPDE 0.3 test server to see whats happening in the new build of epoch but sadly my friend was R2 Autobanned , I think it may be related to his connection and either skaronator or Battleye taking more than 90 seconds to load , which results in an autoban.
Usually we can get this sorted quick but I haven't seen any admins online or know where their forum is to make this post there , if any GPDE admins see this can they look into what caused the ban and unban my friend as he isn't a cheater/hacker/glitcher , just a guy with a crap net connection.
his in game name is Padorian , he shares the [bAS] clantag.

I bet bucks that u have no clue at all what u are heading for- Woking and much appreciated arma2 epoch and than u deliever this piece of junk mod, which wouldnt have been played by anyone for a bit - if it hadnt have the famous name of epoch. Nothing works out so far - physics are horrible, building elements whithout any sense for the game (foundations everyon will crawl under ur base, no real floors or roofs. no defense builds). Kam me hame ha ai, exploding monsters (make sense o.O) - biggest disapointment i ve ever had in my mod experiences- And still u are hiding behind u alpha stage. The day 2017 arma mod comes out -> ur mod will vanish completely !. Smoke less pot and go back to the epoch roots - and most importand ask the community what they want- cause they actually have the gamesense to implement something more balanced, common sensed and mind processed content-
seriously invaluable input , really hope the devs have taken on board your ideas and implemented them for the future of epoch..... OH wait you didn't even give any ideas , hmm I wonder how the mod you are building will play , it must be amazing.

When your building/placing the stud wall one side has an outside and an inside , its not easily identifiable to see before you upgrade which side is which.
if you place a stud and dont spin it , then upgrade youll see which side it will place the metal .. from this its just best guess .. sorry I cant be more clear as im pretty baked.

The problem with Launcher / installer / updaters , in my opinion , is that they don't promote learning , ... one click install , next click play , oops , doesn't work , what now .... , thats my gripe / opinion , no matter who they promote ,
ive had my share , very true .. they are to promote easy to play user friendly but if poorly executed they are a nightmare and exactly the opposite.
We all play epoch I guess we were smart enough to bash our mutant clubbed hands over a keyboard to get access. I just like the ease of the process when its done correctly , updating isnt a chore and playing is a simple point click ..
as you say though if its not done proper then you have the fallout of people who cant think outside of the box for a solution.

Dunno about constructive criticism , most read like an angry rant. I usually dont comment in those threads as they just end up a toxic atmosphere.
personally I like using launchers rather than loading them up and restarting arma , how they use their own "free time" to further the mod is upto the devs , theyre not some AAA title company , they are guy an gals who have personal lives with all the BS that goes with them.

our group specifically play on WTP official , the only reason we aint on there is everyone has stopped playing to wait for the reset and patches. if there was no reset we'd probably still be on but its pointless when its gonna happen soon.
player count was usually at 20+ until the patches and wipe were announced , yeh its low but this is an official server with no mods and limited missions so player count was always going to suffer to the other servers with more on offer. im happy to play there and wait it out but some more on the playercount wouldn't hurt.
time will always tell and the serve has a few groups which always keep things interesting.

best advice I could give out is lots of shooting practice on KOTH , when approaching missions always assume there is someone in the area and act accordingly , make yourself invisible (bushes , rocks , defilade) always try to shoot from the smallest stance possible (better shooting and smaller target). if you take fire don't stand around , keep on the move till you lose him and swing around a flank or bug out the area.
never crown the top of a hill , this lets everyone and their grandmother know where you are as you are a sillouhette on a sky background.
if you can wait for the perfect shot , depending on what gun you use and how far the target is you may only get 1 - 2 shots so firing too early can ruin a perfectly good ambush.
have your head on a swivel 100% of the time , you never really know when the area is clear or when more people are moving in flanks or behind you.
generally in arma the guy who spots first will come out on top but the better shooter and mover will usually win out on epoch (due to more health and lower damage).
Never underestimate a good hip fire with an LMG , switching to iron sights or scope loses you a valuable split second where you could light him up with some accurate hip fire and take him down before he gets a shot off.
really its all about practice , shooting , movements and teamwork ... gradudally with time you'll all know how each other play and whats your strengths and weaknesses.

What are peoples thoughts on 5.56mm rounds vs 6.5 and 7.2 (hope i got those numbers right)...
Are 5.56 weapons worth anything? I've found that at a distance of about 500m with a suppressor my bullets don't do much damage (could have sworn i hit someone 4 times and still did not get a kill). Could I have hit them 4 times without killing them or was I legit missing?
What are the better 6.5 and 7.2 weapons that people recommend rocking? Also how far do you need to be for your gunfire sounds to not give away your location suppressed and non-suppressed ?
sadly in epoch no they really aren't worth much (for cheap loot runs to kill the AI yes but not for PVP) , they've buffed the health in epoch so it takes way too many shots of 5.56 to be effective outside of CQC but even then theyre trumped by the 7.62 varients. Basically don't use anything less than 7.62 for PVP and 5.56/6.5 for the AI. At a push you can use the 6.5 for PVP but your gonna have to get close or wait for a good shot when you can put multiple hits on target.

Really Depend on my mood .....
Sniper then I prefer the Lynx + SOS scope with a mix of normal and APDS rounds , but if im up for a bit of closer engagement or if im gonna fight in a city then I prefer to rock a Zafir + MRCO with minimum of 450rnds.
most times im rocking a zafir + MRCO as it has a good mix of accuracy at range and close up beastability , I never use anything less than a heavy plate carrier vest if I have spares and don't like to take backpacks.
oh and my favourite clothing is the guerrilla smocks 1 and shemagh :)

Weve had parts disappear on WTP but only when we forgot to pay a jammer , other than that we have been fine an havent lost anything from magic , only lost ffrom our own negligence.

If its an arma thing I dont understand why I dont have the issue in breaking point altis , maybe theyve tweaked a few settings I dunno but never experienced this issue at all on BP only epoch.

strange though that I don't get it on breaking point altis , the first time I really noticed it was epoch. dunno what the guys at breaking point have done to the map but these places look fine there and no loading/rendering issues.

so as the title suggests me and friends are having issues with the rendering on tops of hills around altis , players/rocks appear to be floating as the ground they are on hasn't rendered properly and is invisible till you get closer. I don't get this issue on other mods only epoch. why if its the same map? , can it be fixed? as its rather annoying.

our group have taken over one of these office buildings you mention and the parts definitely are not indestructible , weve had quite a few breaches in our stay there.
walls destroyed inside and outside.

im guessing you haven't found the silenced 12.7mm rifle yet :) ... you will most likely hear it from a few hundred metres but its probably the best solution to what youre looking for.
