  1. yeh dazza you may not dominate a server but lets face it you will dominate most any engagements with smaller sized group , just through sheer weight of numbers alone. a small price to pay is limiting the hex amount so you don't just overwhelm in engagements and have to be good on comms. dont get me wrong I love group engagements and intense fights but its just insane fighting 24 vs 3 , to say you wouldn't dominate them is crazy a lot of squads I see on servers are made up of around 6 - 8 guys , even then I think you guys would steamroll through weight of numbers and having the ability to quickly pin down and flank.

  2. that actualy doesn't seem like too bad an idea , the alliance thing would be a nice feature to show which clans youre friendly with but I fear those same clans just absolutely taking over a server with everyone else being target practice (me included lol). for a bit of fairness to the loners and small squads id have to say if you want to roll in such large numbers then youll have to coordinate through comms and not half a server full of hexes on the screen.

  3. I don't see any rules regarding killing traders bananaman , while it may be frowned upon (by some) I'd like to hear what the server admins views are before making any such comments on the consequences. The only rule I can see related to traders are no camping the spawn traders , at least that's how it is on zombies.nu. if the intention of the devs was not to kill traders then wouldn't they make them invincible?. why even spawn in AI once they are killed? if you are correct then this wouldn't make any sense.

  4. I hope there are no half arsed painters out there who miss a wall out when doing a job lol.

if say I "forget" to paint a section will it show signs of degredation , if 6 days have passed since last paint job would it look damaged?.

will we get notification or simply have to pick a day were maintenance is priority?

I do like the sounds of this feature but scares me as I am rather forgetfull , if I miss a section out will that section be gone and ruin the entire base or will I be able to craft another section to replace it easily?.

  5. the vannad should be a beast , its an armoured vehicle. there are already lots of weapons which will kill or disable it , a short burst of 6.5 to the tyres will nerf the thing to the point you can run rings around it. if anything I feel that it was already very weak in epoch and has been weakened to the point its better to have a turbo or pickup then the vannad.

make them harder to repair so to balance that with how powerful an asset it should be , finding one should be a game changer for any squad.

in breaking point the vannad was a tough S.O.B but could easily be destroyed if you know its weak points, even then there is no .50 or .408 in game which would easily pierce the armour is readily available in epoch. so for balance id say make the higher calibre weapons harder to find or buff the vanned to withstand at least some moderate fire (after all that is the purpose of an armoured vehicle).

  6. I do like a day/night cycle , adds immersion and a flow of time rather than an abrupt bang heres nighttime/daylight... if I could make one suggestion is that night time is fine until you enter a vehicle then suddenly it gets much darker , soon as you jump out the vehicle its back to normal.

a slightly accelerated time would be fine if you can balance the speed with the light changes , it kills the immersion for me when the light sources change like a switch was turned off. if this could be tweaked so it was a steady progression istead of instant I think it would be much better.

  7. dazza the problem just now is persistence over server restarts , yes you can place them but soon as the server restarts they are sacrificed to the gods of arma and lost forever. what I would suggest is that a limited number be placed inside the area of the radar jammer which would persist over server restarts until it was eventually set off by someone.

I do like the sounds of the bear traps and rope trap , while they may not kill an attacker tey may just slow them down enough to offer an advantage.

  8. yeh im expecting a wipe with the big update out soon , im keen to mark a piece of altis off and call it home. building at this stage is more about practice for the big game , i'll still end up with a 6x6 shack in the middle of the woods but it'll be my little shack in the middle of the woods :)

  9. so please hear me out before you kick the shit outta me and my idea , I dunno if its been suggested in the past but what I was thinking is that within the 30m radar jammer radius you could place defensive traps that would persist until set off by an aggressor. these traps would be limited in number so as not to turn the area into a minefield and would persist over server restarts if they are placed within the boundaries of the radar jammer.

the same rules would apply to placing them inside the radar jammer area , being that only you or your squad can build there and all would get the location as if theyd placed them (ie the red triangle of death)

traps could be the mines and such already available in game but not limited to just that with some imagination and creativity :).

  10. loot is a touchy subject , for some its too low and others its too much. what I find is that weapons like zafir , mx sw and the .50 rifles are a bit too common. ive seriously found 3 zafirs in one loot run on a town and felt like the epoch gods were just shining down.

food and water is a bit hit and miss for me , I do find enough to get me and the guys by and agree it could possibly be lower and have more of an impact in game (the scavenge).

building materials ... now this is one I find puzzling , why cant  you throw up a couple of wooden walls while you search for the ever elusive scrap metal.

now onto approach and loot spawns , this has me frustrated sometimes as I search around and goto a tower (nothing there) , my bud arrives a few minutes later and finds a treasure trove of weapons. its the loot spawn mechanics im a bit frustrated with , looting shouldn't be a case of take it slow (there are big guys with shiny weapons that love slow moving targets). id much prefer if it spawned a bit quicker on approach rather than not knowing if anything will ever spawn.

just a few quick brainfarts on my end , don't hate :)

  11. honestly and this is just my opinion that while being a very cool feature it shouldn't be part of the game. it will make fights a bit ridiculous with regards to being ganked from behind by invisible players , if I lock down an area with my team and then find players uncloaking like Klingon warships I don't think id be at all impressed. it can be hard enough trying to spot ambushes but with star trek cloaking devices it will just get crazy to the point that everyone and there grandma will be wearing them (much like ghillies just now).

it will make the firefights turn into fire and cloak engagements , similar to what was said these devices should be for games like crisis , not epoch.

as I said though its very cool but feel it would be very difficult to balance right and would be a snipers dream , fire off a round , cloak and move. rinse repeat till you've wiped an entire server.

  12. lying prone under a fallen wall to hide your character and being able to see and fire through that fallen wall is an exploit as you cant shoot through them when they are standing. that is an exploit , duping is an exploit.

3rd person view is not an exploit until its used to see into buildings which you are not even in (example being able to see to the top of towers from below the ladders) , allowing you to see the contents or any players inside. using it to peek over stuff is intended and not exploiting.

  13. how can it be an exploit when everyone in the server has the ability , that is intended game functionality.

In video games, an exploit is the use of a bug or glitches, game system, rates, hit boxes, or speed, etc. by a player to their advantage in a manner "not intended by the game's designers.

  14. I don't regard myself as a bandit but isn't banditry a legitimate roleplay style? , I would be bored senseless if I wasn't constantly on my guard for fear of a player nearby. remove that and I think you lose a lot of what makes the survival games essence , that "what if" factor or what I like to call ... can I trust this guy!?.

  15. This guy at the red truck didn't have any issues putting up a plot pole in the middle of a gunfight , nice though we were so preoccupied with the fight we missed the pole entirely .... look to the red truck at the start of the fight when theres only one guy left behind it (about 1 minute in) .......

  16. I agree to a point ....

what I believe is that whatever is left of humanity would band together to try and survive after an apocalypse , however to think that there wouldn't be crazies , robbers/bandits who are just out for themselves or just to kill for fun when there are no laws to govern them is naïve at best. yes most would try to build a society for themselves but the world wouldn't suddenly become a utopian society , it would be filled with the remnants of the past and battle hardened survivors who have seen the worst of the most horrible stuff imaginable.

even after ww2 there was korea , Vietnam , falklands , Iraq and back .... the world didn't so much as band together after the tragedy , id say it prepared for the next. Mankind has always been so imaginative at creating was to destroy ourselves.

'I do not know with what weapons world war 3 will be fought with, but world war 4 will be fought with sticks and stones' .. Albert Einstein.

  17. its the whole risk vs reward argument .... should I bother to even try interacting? whats his intentions? is he looking to loot me or to just talk. the possibilities are endless and risking youre hard found loot is a very big gamble that most often people don't want to take. most KOS is paranoia and fear of losing your gear for me I think.

  18. registered and whitelisted , I got the same suspicious flag but nothing serious , its most likely an automated message regarding all the BS that's been happening.

played on the server till restart , impressed so far .. not much desynch that I could detect and ran buttery smooth. I will be back for more that's for sure and will tell the guys to get whitelisted on the forum.
