  1. Hello all,

    Firstly I don't know what the problem is but my server isn't showing epoch 1.0.5.1 when lots of other servers are.  I've tried a few things and no success fixing it yet but I found a temporary workaround.

    If your server shows up in commander but doesn't say epoch 1.0.5.1 it just says the arma version you can add the launch parameter -mod=@DayZ_Epoch; in dayz commander settings and now when you join it will start with the proper mod and you should be able to connect.

    In the meantime I am still trying to find out if there is something I can do to make it recognized.

  2. My server shows on commander and I am able to join it too. CTC Epoch Cut-throat Corner Chernarus (1.0.5.1/125548) 100% updated.  Not trying to advertise just saying... Commander doesn't recognize my server as epoch but it shows it online and the correct arma version.  I'm sure it has something to do with how I named my server.  My server name is likely just a bit too long because from what I read we can't have long server names anymore on the steam version.  Anyway... All I did to join my server was go to settings and add -mod=@DayZEpoch; and then it worked.  I plan on editing my server name to make it compatible to show up properly in the lists but this is an 'easy' workaround for anyone that knows how to use a launch parameter.

    And just FYI... I'm the furthest thing from a Dayz Commander fanboy... the updates are slow and so are the downloads.  I don't use commander myself anymore but it IS working somewhat.

  3. Specs seems like they should net solid 60 fps.  Gonna say right off the hop its could be just bad luck with servers.

    Things I suggest.

    #1 In your hidden files c:\users\your name\appdata\local\arma2OA\  there's a file called ArmA2OA.RPT this file keeps track of local errors while running the game.  Until you get this fixed I recommend that before each time you launch the game delete this file so that it will make a new one for you to examine for errors.

    So each time you connect to a server check that file for errors.

    #2 Try running steam as administrator.  Try running Arma 2 just to make sure steam doesn't say that it is the first time it is being run.  Also try running Operation Arrowhead as admininstrator.  Running as admin might help with the FPS and if steam for whatever reason thinks arma 2 has never been run then there will be errors.

    #3 Keep trying different servers and see if you get different results.  Hopefully you will find that it was a server issue and nothing to do with your computer.

    #4 You could also try special launch parameters but I don't know exactly which ones to recommend.

    Not sure what else to say.

    My specs:

    Windows 8.1

    CPU

    Intel® Core™ i7-3770K CPU @ 3.40GHz

    CPU SPEED:

    overclocked to 4.07 GHz

    SYSTEM MEMORY:

    8 GB

    VIDEO CARD MODEL:

    2x NVIDIA GeForce 660 Ti SLI

    VIDEO CARD MEMORY:

    unsure i think 2 gb each

    VIDEO CARD DRIVER:

    unsure

    PRIMARY DISPLAY RESOLUTION:

    1920x1080

    Server ver: 1.63.125548

    Epoch 1.0.5.1

    Pretty solid 60 FPS in game even after server running for hours.

  4. Update:

    Tho I never use commander today I've been asking and I found out some of my players use it to join.  So I decided to try myself.

    I found my server on commander and in version all it said was 1.63.125548 and it didn't say anything about epoch.

    So I went to dayz commander settings, made sure the steam crap was unchecked, and manually added -mod=@DayZ_Epoch;

    Joined no problem.

    Here is my config.cfg:

    steamport = 2300;
    steamqueryport = 2301;

        };

    };

    My server has been running for about a month.  In this time it has been running stable.

    Perhaps the problem that folks are having is that it might take a lot of time before your server gets authenticated by steam.

    Here is my advice...  Use 5 ports per server example 2300-2305 or 2400-2405 or whatever the hell you want.  Make sure you have set up the port forwarding if this is a LAN server.  And then run your server for a long time so it can get authenticated ASAP.

    ports 2302-2305 is what I used before the steam update, and I just added 2300 and 2301 and it seems fine.

  5. Hey people.  Sorry I never use commander so I'm not really up to date with that sort of information.

    It very well could be that commander wants you to use specific ports.

    I would try this:

    i try to use some other steam ports. in this thread on the second page i find this:

    steamport =8766;  //default 8766, needs to be unique if multiple serves on same box
    steamqueryport =22816; //default 27016, needs to be unique if multiple servers on same box

    and it works!

    or steamqueryport =27016; maybe?

    2300 + 2301 were suggested by vbawol but that was LONG BEFORE THE COMMANDER UPDATE

    this is most likely the problem so mess around with ports if at all possible and please report any success

  6. my server says

     Warning Message: No challenge value was received from the master server.

    GameSpy QR2 error: 5, No challenge value was received from the master server.

     please help me :(

    What version of ArmA 2?  What version of Epoch?  This thread is for HOW-TO update to the steam version.

    EVERYONE PLEASE DO NOT POST QUESTIONS ABOUT HOW TO MAKE COMMANDER WORK ON OLDER VERSIONS.

  7. s_player_elevator_next

    s_player_deploybike2

    s_player_ckc

    s_player_packvehicle

    All of these and any that look like these need to be put into your variables.sqf to fix those errors.  Concentrate on fixing all the fn_selfactions errors first.

    dayz_resetSelfActions = {
    	s_player_fire =			-1;
    	s_player_cook =			-1;
    	s_player_boil =			-1;

    Once you have all that crap cleaned up it will probably show you new errors you never seen before.

    Keep working through all the errors 1 by 1 until they mostly all fixed.

  8. object texture from .paa sounds like a major increase to mission file for something that hopefully sould be achieved in an easier fashion... not sure really how but maybe if you point your mouse at a sign it could have a text popup message.  I've been wanting this too, would be very helpful

  9. I have just tried what Phail said worked for him and I can confirm it did not solve the issue (on our server at least). The fun and games continue... :(

    ur not alone didnt work for me either.

    I went through all my RPT logs trying to fix every little error, deleted people from DB numerous numerous times, restarted the server countless times, problem seems to have went away for me. hope this helps.

  10. Hey guys.  I don't understand why you would want to use commander at all?

    To be honest, I haven't tried to connect to my server from commander... because I gave up using it a long time ago due to various issues... slow updates, and causes too much confusion...  people should learn to start using the ingame  multiplayer button, it makes things so much easier for everyone.  Why?

    Well lets say I have a dedicated server on my internal LAN network, which I do... sometimes commander will say my server ping is 10,000 even tho it's running, not really sure why but I think it's because the server is on my internal LAN network and messes up search function?  The point is that if commander does this to me, it will not recognize it as an epoch server at all and when I try to join it will not add the proper launch parameters and thus I will not be able to join.

    Now rather if you start your game through steam library and activate the epoch mod from the main menu, it will relaunch the game with the epochmod and you can now go to multiplayer, add your IP address and join your server easy, like it should be.

    Another thing.  Commander delayed this update far too long and has proven to me to be unreliable.  Using steam for arma auto-updates and epochmod.com for epoch updates would be much better practice for you and your players.

    And one last thing, when I looked at commander yesterday, yes I saw my server on the list right away but as mentioned above the port shows up as 2301 and that just doesn't seem right to me at all... I didn't bother trying to join with commander... I probably should have but I'm just not fond of it anymore, I tell all my players to use ingame search function and everyone seems fine with it!

  11. maybe your game was updated by steam. use the search to find my [how-to] rollback arma beta patch

    basically delete all the .exe files for operation arrowhead to start.  then go to steam library and right click operation arrowhead, select properties, then go to beta tab.  select 1.62 - older version of the game.  next go to verify integrity of game cache.  wait for it to revert to older version, download, etc.  when its done make sure you turn off automatic updates.

    Next would be launch the game just to make sure it works.  it should say that you have an older version like 1.62.95xxx probably.  Now you can go on commander, or your preferred method of downloading the patches and choose any patch you want.

    Goodluck.

  12. Nope, they do not give a key when you build them. This uses a modified player_build.sqf (renamed for each gun) and building in epoch does not give keys. If you modified those files you might be able to make it give you keys but I personally do not want to go there. I prefer that they be unlocked, sorry. A vehicle with _ownerID = 0 will be unlocked. When you build a gun I think I put it in the code for when you build it. Take a look in the gun build code for the same line about owner ID. If i'm right tthat is why they are unlocked all the time. So you would need to take out those lines too. I'm at work right now, so I'll take a look later. For server restarts it is the server_monitor that would be calling the FNC_wepRemSG. Please post your server monitor.sqf and your FNC_wepRemSG in a spoiler or on pastebin, or you can pm me.

    And just to make it clear this is not a release by me, it is just a how to for modifying the existing scripts but I have no plans to make new versions. I will still gladly help where I can but my knowledge of the coding is still novice at best.

  13. Sniped link per report, BTW, This is not anything new I just helped someone on our Teamspeak the other day with the same exact functions.

    https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/setObjectTexture

    combined with:

    https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/setVehicleInit

    and

    https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/processInitCommands

    Will give you JIP compatible texture replacements if the vehicle is setup for it.

    Add this on line https://github.com/vbawol/DayZ-Epoch/blob/master/SQF/dayz_server/system/server_monitor.sqf#L126 change the ANYCLASS to your vehicle class and the texture path to that of a paa file in your mission pbo.

    if (_type == "ANYCLASS") then {_object setVehicleInit "this setObjectTexture [0, "\pboname\texture.paa"];"};

    Also add

    processInitCommands;

    here: https://github.com/vbawol/DayZ-Epoch/blob/master/SQF/dayz_server/system/server_monitor.sqf#L261

    Tried this.  Got the following error and it didn't work.

    Error in expression <VehicleInit "this setObjectTexture [0, "\DayZ_Epoch_11.Chernarus\custom\SUV.paa">
    Error position: <\DayZ_Epoch_11.Chernarus\custom\SUV.paa">
    Error Missing ;
    File z\addons\dayz_server\system\server_monitor.sqf, line 126

    It's just missing a semi-colon after the closing quotations.

    This should work:

    if (_type == "ANYCLASS") then {_object setVehicleInit "this setObjectTexture [0, "\pboname\texture.paa"];";};

    Posted for anyone that's trying this.  Also to say THANKS to vbawol for posting it!  And a bump for Hollow's Nissans  B)

  14. Found the answer from raymix here:

    seems it was missing a semi colon like it said after all.  (Not to mention I had the wrong file extension, lol)

    Here's what worked for me: (note there is an extra semi colon)

    if (_type == "SUV_TK_CIV_EP1") then {_object setVehicleInit 'this setObjectTexture [0, ''custom\SUV.jpg''];';};
