Adding scripts to server help

Hi all.

I was just wondering if anyone knows an easy way to add scripts to my server without affecting restart? Is it possible?

 

At the moment, i try to stay up as late as possible when the server population is low or zero and then i can add them fine. However, as the server gets busier its hard to to do without affecting the restart time (it puts it out of synch - restarts too early). This is causing problems as a few players have complained that they lose gear because they dont log out in time.

 

How do you add scripts? Shutdown the server? Anything possible while its live?

Any changes require a restart, setup a test server or if you use a shared host install a server on your home PC.

Like Richie says: "Any change requires a restart". However, some host provide file changing while the server is one, but this will still need a restart because the new files need to get changed.

You can change BE filters on the fly but scripts require changes to the mission or server .pbo files, that requires the restart so the server can load the new mission and send it to clients.

Thanks guys.. I try to add upload the files while the server is online using filezilla but for some reason it doesnt let me (error uploading files) and seems to cause trouble with the server?

Someone release a test environment without restarting server. Never tried it, but seems to best solution for test servers.

You have to put your server offline in order to delete / upload files in the ftp, only not with battleye files if i'm right.  ;)
