iWounded
I don't know if this has been posted before or not, because I literally just signed up to the forums. But this has been a persistent problem for me. I'm running a dedicated server for EPOCH, as you may have guessed, but when I go to join, one of two things happen. I either spawn into the game, with a new character and the time off, and then get an Authentication Error after a few seconds, or I get stuck on the loading screen. I didn't think I'd need a screenshot for the Authentication Error, because it's pretty self explanatory, but with the loading screen, I snagged one because someone may have a different problem, but have it worded the same way. The the loading screen thing is attached, and sometimes, when that happens, I can hear my character moving around and I can hear the shores and birds and such. I have no idea what's causing these, and any help would be much appreciated.
Chris9183
Yeah this is a widespread problem right now that has no fix (both the authentication timeout and the loading screen issue). It started when Steam released an Arma 2 OA update, which broke Epoch for most people. It's crippling the entire Epoch community and is in dire need of a fix, but so far no one has found anything that really works, and the Epoch devs are eerily silent about it. My server has no problems and so do many others. The latest patch changed a few things and you will have to reinstall each script 1 by 1 and restart the server to check if it lets you in. Chris9183
It's not about scripts. The problems happen on fresh vanilla servers. Go check all the threads in the client troubleshooting forum if you want to learn more about these issues and how they are crippling the community currently. Please don't spread false info. jon5353
I'm assuming my problem is a part of this? Let me explain it real quick I am also running a local server by the way. I get into briefing, press OK. Mission starts to download and all is well, then eventually I appear in debug. After a short time in debug, the loading screen comes back up with the loading bar, but no text near it. I then get stuck on a number (1-4) to load and it wont go away. I can hear myself moving around and even shoot, as if I'm in the game but the loading screen is just covering it. It is a little bit different than the issue the OP posted with, so I'm not sure if its an error on my part or what. As far as my log goes, I get no errors. Currently I'm trying to figure out a way around this. Using the both the steam related options in DayZ Commander didn't seem to do anything so I'm not sure. Maybe you shouldn't spread false info? The day all this shit happened I got my server up and running in an hour and so did many others. Overpoch and regular epoch both work on latest patch with 20+ different scripts installed.
Chris9183
Yeah and just as many people if not way more woke up to these currently unfixable problems. Just because you're one of the lucky ones who are magically having no issues doesn't mean a big portion of the rest of the community isn't, and the more you act like it's just a stupid setup/install problem, the higher the chance the devs might continue to ignore the problem. I'm not running any scripts to my knowledge. I tried playing it about 10 or 15 minutes after I got everything set up and these problems were happening. iWounded
Had the same problem, rebuilt the files again and it worked, had missed something from the init.sqf, mybad :/ oopsie I deleted all of my server files and remade it again, following a tutorial word for word, and I'm still having the persistent problem. I guess I'll just have to wait for the Devs to step up and help all the people experiencing this problem.
Chris9183
Yeah the problem has nothing to do with your init.sqf or your build or anything. Anyone that stops having the problem after doing something simple like removing scripts or rebuilding SQFs is just getting lucky, they actually didn't solve anything. Chris9183
There's a workaround for the loading screen issue on page 5 or 6 of the black loading screen thread here in Client Side Issues forum.
iWounded
The loading screen thing hasn't happened recently, but the Authentication Timeout thing is really persistent. If that loading screen thing comes back, I'll take a look at that workaround, thanks.
ReDBaroN
maybe a client issue? Are there lots of people having same problem on your server? Anyway, you can try this as it has worked for my players in 100% of cases of character auth problems and getting kicked...

Everybody else that has tried to join has had no problems whatsoever.
