    Just an FYI, you gota check your local laws regarding cash prizes or prizes that have tangible value (ex: GFX card give away), both of which are taxable. Here in the USA, even if donations are set up as a not for profit donation or a nonprofit corporation or organization, records must be kept, and taxes paid. Events as the ones discussed in this thread could conflict with sweepstake laws and step on the toes of federal lottery law. Cash prizes awarded to anyone in the USA must have taxes paid on them, and they must be declared by the winner. For example, paypal will automatically share your social security info and report donations to the IRS if above $20,000 and 200 transactions annually. You can still be audited if you do not reach that threshold.It's a risk you take if you do not research your specific situation, as Uncle Sam may or may not care to spend the time and money to litigate, depending on how much money it is.

    I am not an attorney, nor is this legal advice. This is my sharing of knowledge on the matter as a professional with experience, and to encourage individuals to research their own specific conditions to see what is exactly legal or not in their own state, or country.

    This forum is for people to come together, promote ideas, and get help.

    You can be banned from this forum for violating the following rules;

    No flame-bait posts. Questioning moderation, calling anyone out, Airing dirty laundry or making a post that could result in a provoked reply will not be tolerated and result in a permanent ban. Follow the instructions given by moderators. If you are asked to stop doing something and refuse to comply it can/will result in a permanent ban. If you feel you can't receive help from a moderator you will need to private msg Axle or AWOL. Search before posting. If you have a question, please use the forum search function before posting to make sure that it hasn't been answered before. There is a big chance it has, not only does searching help to keep the forum free of multiple threads it will also help you to get an answer much quicker. No Spam. We deem spam as making a thread or posting a reply that has no real worth, is irrelevant, useless and offers nothing to a discussion. Posting "any news" or "is it out yet" type posts are also spam. Messages of banned members are also considered as spam. If your post/thread is not able to illicit or sustain an in depth conversation then it's spam. This also applies to other areas of the forums such as leaving visitor messages on people's profiles. Spam may be dealt with by post count reduction, Post Restriction and/or a formal warning. No Politics or Religion, This includes the "Off Topic" forum No posting of hacks or exploits in public. Do report exploits in this special forum: http://epochmod.com/forum/index.php?/forum/72-exploit-reports/ Do not advertise any commercial products or services. One Bump per 24 hour period. Report rule violations. If you see a violation of these rules on the forum, do not reply in the thread but send a Private Message to a moderator or use the "Report" button instead. Replying in the thread will be considered as spam. Reporting posts contribute to a well structured, well-disciplined forum which benefits everyone. Posting addon/mod other content without permission. The first and most fundamental rule is that you must seek permission to alter someone's work, to mirror it or use it in any way other than for personal use. No permission, no editing, no mirroring, no adding to your mod pack, no editing and sharing around your private squad, none of that is acceptable.   Obviously we cannot, unfortunately, control what people do outside of these forums, however on these forums you must follow this rule, if a person/team post a thread to share an addon/mod using content from someone else without permission and we receive a complaint then the mod thread will be closed until the issue is resolved and the forum member(s) risks being permanently banned from these forums for taking someone's work without permission.   This isn't just limited to re-using content in addons/mods/missions however, it's not acceptable to edit someone's work without permission and then to post screenshots of it on the forums (even if the edited addon/mod is purely for personal use), it's also not acceptable to edit someone's work, or use someone's work in any way that you don't have permission for and then to create videos which you post on these forums, doing any of the above without the permission of the original creators risks a permanent ban, for individuals, for whole mod teams or squads. Content in your signature must comply with all forum rules. Total maximum image size is 600x150 px. Total maximum image size is 100KB. The signature may be used to advertise your clan, fan-site or addons for Epoch Mod, but not as a billboard for flaming or opinion statements.
    Write in English. Please write only in English on the public forums. Avoid writing in any other language or any kind of slang or txt speak since the majority of the members most likely won't understand. In private messages you are of course welcome to write in any language you wish.
    No duplicate accounts. Having several accounts is strictly forbidden. If you want to get a new account contact a moderator. If you wish to change your name for any reason we will be happy to do that, if you discover you inadvertently ended up with two accounts we can merge them for you, better to inform a moderator than risk being banned as a "dupe". Please note that due to abuse by people trying to circumvent the duplicate account rules we do not allow forum accounts to access the forums using a VPN/Proxies/Tor network etc. etc. if you feel that you need to use this kind of service because of security/privacy/network tunnelling concerns please contact a moderator.
