How about knocking your stamina back to spawn level which like 10 i think, regardless of how long your character was alive. Would definitely make people think twice especially if they travel on foot a lot. Or to add to that, knock down Hunger to 2500 and Thirst to 1000. Statistical handicap as a place holder until a real penalty is in place.

I thought I'd share my thoughts on the Alpha so far.   I'w been watching the streams quite often lately to get the last updates on what has been happening with epoch so far, and 2 days ago i won a key :D So about 10 minutes into playing i met B_Dubz somewhere close to the middle trader. He was kind enough to give me some gear to start out with Which was much needed as i met my first sapper about 5 minutes after he B_Dubz left me, i was almost killed by that thing. After that i found myself a first aid kit, before i wandered north to loot some towns, at this point i was carrying alot of stuff so i decided to log of as it was nighttime and alot of creepy stuff was going on.   I logged back on the next day and apparently i logged of almost right on top of a car. of course it was broken so i had to run back to the trader to buy myself a repair kit. on my way back to the car i met one of those drones, tried to shoot it down but failed miserably. so instead of fighting whatever got spawned by this thing i started running, and i just ran until i could not hear it anymore. I guess someone else engaged the drone because there were alot of gunfire after i left the area. So i fixed my car and went back to the trader, there i met B_Dubz again we made a little convoy and went around looting stuff for a couple of hours. we were gonna try finding a helicopter but with no luck.   The mod so far even though only a alpha is very fun,  except for the random couches and beds placed all over and the build limit being reached i found it very fun and quite glitch/bug free. i at least have not seen any major glitches.

First make sure you got the current Bit Synch files. New files were pushed around 5pm eastern NA time. Copy those new files over to your @Epoch folder.

Next open steam. Right click on Arma 3. Select properties. Go to the tab that says BETAS. In the drop down menu select rc build. In the box below type in Hotfix128Arma3 then click check code.

Start your game and then follow the instructions to get on to the server if you have been provided with the server IP. If you have more issues, come talk to me or the other testers on teamspeak that are there for more support if the Devs are not there.

This has been in a3 for quite some time, it has it's impact on resources albeit very atmospheric.  Maybe we'll find a nice way to explore it's spectrum without affecting performance.

I am going to summarize everything that happen to me the first time I logged into the game. First I would like to thank Dan aka Orangesherbet for the invitation, I never expected it and totally made my day.

First 30 minutes - I spawned in the game and left the starter area with a sense of exploration. I had wondered the coast for 20 minutes, finding trash piles. As I was collecting gear, I heard a chicken. I turned around to look at it because it was kinda cool to have a chicken in the middle of no where. The funny thing about it was that there was no chickens around, just a rabbit. I stood there for 2 minutes moving 360 degrees trying to find that illusive chicken. It made a noise much louder than before so I turned in the direction of which I think it came from and there was the rabbit, right next to me. I was confused, thinking that the rabbit made a chicken sound, but then again it was a normal anomaly unsolved in the DayZ standalone, and ended up laughing my ass off.

Stats - I looked at the map and saw the airfield so I marked a waypoint on it. A player helped me figure out how to pull the debug menu up, kudos to him! As I was running I kept looking at the stats. I saw the stamina levels dropping fast. I stopped a few times and saw that the stamina recovers itself. I also ate and drank something and it seems to help in the stamina recovery speed as well as the total threshold, I could be wrong. never the less I was intrigued by this system. I think it is a breath of fresh air of realism and gets rid of the marathon simulator 2014 aspect that has been the norm for much of the arma 2 mod. There was a point where I pushed my character to the limit. I drained my self of stamina and began to see the fatigue stat go up. The higher it went, it made a small visual effect on the screen as if your starting to black out. If this is the implementation of how it supposed to be from over exerting yourself, then huge thumbs up by the dev team for detail. After a 4 minute rest I was able to get the fatigue back to 0 and my stamina back up.

Looting - From flipping mattresses, opening desks and cabinets I was able to get fully geared up within the first hour of playing. I looted small sheds that had bags of food on the outside, ended up getting some spam. Next I ended up finding a tool kit. For the life of me I couldn't figure out why I wasn't able to carry it. So I left it. I had found a vehicle repair tool and a jar of honey. It amazes me that even though the loot placement isn't as common as I thought it would be, the diversity of the items surprised me. There was a lot of things that I found but I couldn't carry anything else with me since I was full of items. I also was looking for vehicles and have not found any so far.

Deaths - I died 3 times in the 5 hours I played so far. My first death was a strange one. I was considering it to be a bug but I also took into consideration that I had a lightning storm in my part of Florida, that maybe my connection might have caused it. I was climbing a very tall ladder going to the top of a tower at one of the factories looking for loot. I got to the top and found nothing. I hit a lag spike that froze my game for 3 seconds. I attempted to climb down the ladder and my guy just falls several stories to his death. I know there is an icon command to slip down the ladder but it didn't mis-click or anything. I will just say that it was an accident or a glitch due to my connection or something. The last 2 deaths was rather funny. Second death was I was at the military outpost west of the Airfield on top of a hill. My chihuahua was begging for attention for the better part of 30 minutes. So after looting 2 trash piles I took off my ear buds and started to play with her. I heard a loud noise on my ear buds. I turned left and saw that I was killed! It seems a sapper came up on me and blasted me to high hell. I was taken aback by it and I couldn't believe what had happened. 30 minutes later I was able to make it back and loot everything off my dead body. Another hour passed by, met up with another player and got onto the teamspeak you guys use. Met some people on there. I had to leave for dinner. I stopped in a middle of a field, and was waiting 10 seconds to abort. With 3 seconds left I hear a dog barking and I freaked out. As I was trying to resume playing the dog mauled my ass from behind and bam I was dead. The people in TS found that funny, and so did I.

In closing my first time testing has been a wonderful experience. Came across some weird stuff but i don't consider it to be broken or buggy unless it happens to me a lot (falling off ladders) and rabbit chicken noises. I hope to try crafting and building next time and give my thoughts on that. Until then I will be ho-humming my way across the map just running into stuff and see what I come across.

    Looking forward to day 2!
