Help installing server

KrunchyBakon21

Question

Hey guys. I have been following a video on how to make my own DayZ Epoch server. This is just for me to use on the localhost connection, because I want to get use to everything before I create a real server. When I try to run the DayZ_Epoch_instance_11_Chernarus bat file, it says "Windows cannot find Expansion\beta\arma2oaserver.exe." All of my files are located in D:\DayZ Server [Epoch]. I have copied all arma2 and arma2oa files into this folder, as well as the 1.0.3.1 server files. I am using Navicat for MySQL, and have created a new database called dayz_epoch, and have copied epoch.sql  into the database. My SQL database is running with Xampp. Can somebody help me? If you need anymore info I will give it too you.

Hi 11Hotel,  I found your server installation process to be one of the clearer ones out there.  I found it after my first install failed, but my second and third attempts aren't working either.   I actually posted this as a response in one of the other forums on this site, but I think it's more appropriate for this one.

So I followed the instructions in the video you found (I also found that one before I found your post here), as well as a few other sites and have installed, uninstalled, and reinstalled several times. I downloaded the latest files from this site.  Modified all the cfg files, etc. as per videos. Started SQL, went into NaviCat and set up the database, imported the SQL file and also imported the 1_0_3 SQL updates.

So it tries to start the server and I first got a msg that addon 'dayz_anim' requires BAF.   I click OK and the startup continues.  A few seconds later I get a msg that Arma2 OA has stopped working.    So I purchased BAF, let it install (I purchased from Bohemia, not steam) and then  moved the BAF folder to the same place under my server folder structure.  It was at the root folder level for Arma so I put it there in the server folder, too.   But I see there's also an Addons folder under the Expansions folder.  Should I put BAF there instead?

Anyway so now I get addon 'dayz_anim' requires CA_missions_BAF_Templates_SecOps.  And I still get the Arma 2 OA stopped working message.

Any thoughts or ideas as to what I may have missed or why I get the BAF related messages?

For those of you system people, the system event log shows a faulting application error - arma2oaserver.exe, module BEServer.dll, exception code 0xc0000005.  All I know is that's an access violation of some sort.

Thanks,

Bob

Alright.  I figured out that BattleEye is causing the exception.  If I change the cfg file to not turn it on, I don't get that message.  But I have no idea why.   So now a new problem surfaces - even before I get to the server.  I uninstalled everything and re-installed everything just so I'd have a clean install.  I figured I'd start up Arma2, OA, and OA beta as I installed each and before I install the next.  When I installed OA, it said that 1.10 is already installed and newer than what OA was installing (1.09).  The only option was to click OK.

What was interesting was that the OA beta was 112555.  When I started up Dayz Commander, it downrevved it to 103718.  So that means Commander is a few revs behind?  Anyway, all seems good and I can join both a Dayz and Epoch server.  Under the expansions, I see BAF lite and PMC lite.  So I then installed my purchased copy of BAF.  So now the expansions show that BAF is no longer lite.  So far so good.  But now whenever I try to join any server, I get the msg that Addon 'Dayz_anim' requires addon 'CA_Mission_BAF_Templates_SecOps  and when I click OK, the Epoch title screen comes up and then it displays the contents of the BAF folder and says that they are not signed by a key accepted by this server.  Remove listed files or install additional accepted keys.    So what gives?  I entered the keys during the install.  Arma2/CO, and OA were purchased directly through Bohemia, BAF was purchased through Amazon at a later date.   When I tried to purchase BAF from Bohemia, it barfed.  I think I saw that there's something to do with monetary exchange rates sometimes causing a transaction with Bohemia from America to not complete.

Anyway, I uninstalled and reinstalled twice this time and no luck. Same messages.  And I haven't even gotten to try to install the Epoch server yet!

The keys it's referring to aren't CD-Keys, they are Bikeys, which are signature files for installed content and any addons.

They are located in the \Keys\ folder in your Arma2 directory.  The game is telling you that you are missing some Bikeys.

Try googling "arma 2 baf bikeys", the first set of links should help you on your way. :)
