As the title suggests, I feel 24 hour lockout timer is needed on all vehicles even if it is only activated when you're not online or when the vehicle is within frequency jammer range. At the minute keeping a chopper for more than 1 day is very hard because there are plenty of big groups that play at different time zones to me and my mates and they can just fly over the base when hardly anybody is on, hover low enough to drop a member off and steal our chopper...

Yeah you can put stud walls between the blades but that mostly works for little birds as the blades are low enough to collide, but bigger choppers requires 2 walls stacked and frankly its a bit of a dodgy system and risky if the wall decides to bug out and collide with the chopper.

Simple solution:

When in frequency jammer range a locked vehicle remains locked and indestructible for 24 hours, after that it becomes unlocked. Anything that's unlocked for 7 days without interaction gets despawned / removed.

When vehicles are outside of frequency jammer range the 30min lockout time applies as per usual.

Hot wire kits should also be re-introduced to A3, as a rare lootable like lockboxes/explosives. They are 1 time use items and allow you to unlock a vehicle that's within its frequency jammer (24hr lock). This means players can still raid bases and still steal vehicles but must be equipped for it.

Thoughts?

Vehicles should never be indestructible.  I like the 24 hour locking and hotwire ideas though.

But how then do you keep a chopper safe from trolls who would otherwise just spray them until they blow up and in turn- put holes in your walls/base?

Seems way too easy to just go around fucking people shit up for no real purpose or gain...

Indestructible within frequency jammer range only would be a fair and balanced solution don't you think?

/* [slightly off topic rant];   :D

Everyone wants indestructible stuff unless they're on the attacking side.  I've seen it even on my own servers.  Players whine and complain about people attacking their bases, so I made base items indestructible.  Then they got bored because they couldn't attack bases because base items are indestructible. <_<   I say leave everything as it is and let the chips fall where they may.  Keep your base small with only the essentials and you won't be a magnet for base raids.  Typically the people who have huge bases that can be seen obviously from the air and have tons of vehicles parked around are way more likely to get hit than a small single room structure with a single vehicle parked next to it.  I had the same base on Altis for a long time and it was never attacked.  It was a small, elevated, two story structure (and it was only two stories to accommodate the jammer inside it) and a single SUV parked between the foundation pillars.  That's all that's needed for a base.  Anything more than that by a single player is hording and it's just stupid.  Plus, if your base does get discovered you can move easily since you don't have as much to take down and move.  Stay smart.  Stay mobile.  Stay alive.  */

Back on topic, as long as the indestructible status was only applied to vehicles and only vehicles within jammer range, then yes it makes sense.  There's no "good" reason to blow up a vehicle when looting a base.  Either steal it or leave it.  Doing anything beyond that is just being an asshole.  Granted, it's not true to a real life situation, but it makes sense from a gameplay perspective.

I agree 1000% that bases should be destructible it is what makes the game fun, raiding and looting but at the minute choppers are useless to hold onto because anyone with a vendetta against you or even just trolls will roll up to your base when you're not online and blow up the vehicles for the fuck of it...

Keep it destructible outside of jammer range and keep bases destructible too. I am only interested in making the storage of helicopters viable again...

Well here my thoughts on this. If this was real life u would be there to defend ur base 24/7 however with this not being real life any ass hole can find ur base wait for that group to leave the server then raid the base with no worries of loosing anything them selfs. The only real reason to build a base in this game is to safe guard your stuff while ur offline. the bases of the game is looting build up supply cache and survival. if anyone could just come destroy it as soon as u leave the game for the night everything becomes pointless. it might be a good medium that if anyone in ur group is on line then your base can be attacked and destroyed. vehicles could be unlocked at that point. If your group is off line then ur base is protected for a time period of 24 hrs. this way the attacking group stands to loose there gear if they are unsuccessfully in taking the base.

I think on patch 0.3 it will not be so easy to destroy bases. Anyway it's dick move to destroy(take out jammer and move walls) bases when players offline. If you have good server then most cases these offline raiders will be punished. I'm talking about good community not admins.
