Bob_the_K
What Osiris said.. and others.... One thing that made A2 Dayz Epoch work so well was its extensibility. Numerous maps and lots of scripts and variants on scripts. There was a lot of potential to add new things and new capabilities and tailor what players can do on any given server - to the point that each and every server was different than others. And then layer in Origins, Overwatch, and others and a mix of other mods. So far EpochMod lost a lot of that individualization and it seems to be locked down considerably more than the A2 variants were. Sure A2/Dayz had a lot of exposures and hacking. I remember the early days when you couldn't be on a server more than five minutes without some script kiddie setting the entire map on fire or killing all the players or transporting everyone into the ocean or any number of things. But it improved. Hackers dwindled as it got harder to do. And more and more mods and scripts came out for A2/Dayz/Epoch/Overwatch/etc. I'm sure A3 EpochMod is moving in that direction, but will it survive the journey? Will it be locked down too tight so as to restrict the ability to create some really good, creative scripts and mods? Will it allow for variations so if players want cultists, they can find those servers. If they want zombies, they can find those servers. PVP? They'd be out there, too, as well as PVE. But what about those that just liked the original Dayz/Epoch environment, whether PVE or PVP, that fostered looting, base building, some cooperative play, etc. without forcing roleplay rules on us. Standalone seems to be dying a slow death being locked down too tight. My focus so far has been on the A2 side but I think its time for me to dig into the A3 side a little more.
