Dobrowney
Change player ownership from CharacterID to PlayerUID
Bungle
Maybe a server side option for this.. Or Normal Mode: Tent, Plot Poles, Buildings tied to PlayerUID Always tied to Survivors Option(s) for Cannot be Removed/Destroyed. Limit building to outside of city/town/rural areas. Hardcore Mode: Tent, Plot Poles, Buildings tied to CharacterUID Need to be re-claimed after Death Can be Claimed by other people within 12 hours of death of previous owner (Gives players a chance to get back and re-claim their land) Option(s) for allowing building within City/town/rural areas. vbawol
We like the nature of DayZ and try to develop with that in mind. We think that Epoch should retain a more "Hardcore Mode" just like what bungle mentioned. If there is no risk of losing ownership of costly/rare items when you die then whats the point? We will be adding ways to regain ownership of plots in the next patch.
huehue
I really like Bungle's idea, especially "Cannot be Removed/Destroyed". DayZ vision made me start playing the mod but after months and months of dealing with ArmA 2 engine (heaven and hell at the same time), me and my friends (and a big part of the community, as you can see this behavior reflect in server configuration, custom mods and popularity) became tired of most of the mechanics. To me DayZ should be more like a mix of survivability (zeds, resources, planning), PVP and MMORPG elements like permanent housing, crafting, etc. The "risk of losing" things would be justified if there was skill involved in the process of hiding, building or destroying things. You cannot hide anything on a map so small (even Origins' taviana is small, IMO), the best ways of hiding tents are using glitches of the game, and the best way of finding it is also by using glitches (video settings make you see tents from 10km). There's no such things as building objects to mimic the terrain pattern, there's no caves, limited number of islands, you can't dig a hole, you can't plant trees. And let's not forget map hackers. Dobrowney
The problem is with the way things are now there is no point to base building when anyone can walk into your base and take it all down in 15 mins .. Base building should be something that is perm. Or at least have a key code to it .. Make it real hard to remove.
