XD While I think it's important for us all to have a voice, I think some of us just need to remember that, if the devs attempted to pay attention to more than a fraction of what's being said here, they would NEVER get anything done. If we, the community, want our voices to be heard, I think we need to start compromising more and arguing less. Criticism and countering opinions are healthy and needed to reach a middle ground, but there's also some people making harsh remarks that then blow up and then the point is all but completely lost. It's easy to do, not only due to the topics being discussed, but because communication is very often misconstrued through posting in threads. It'll happen on any kind of forum. Peoples' exact thoughts and/or sarcasm and such don't always come out clearly and can be easily misinterpreted, especially for the type that are a quick read and quick to jump to conclusions. While this mod encompasses a good portion of some peoples' lives(devs) and most of our past-time, in the end it is still just a game. Cheeeiiilll. I've been kind of feeling the same way. I see people that are brand new to the forums getting passwords after posting a 5 word sentence and it's kind of o.O. But it's whatever, I can wait. I certainly don't want to pester them, and maybe there's a reason. =P Also, my buddy and I have a dedicated server that's ready to be used. I think he wanted me to ask Axle if they needed one, but I know they're just running off of very well known communities & providers for now. We never established enough of a playerbase to become popular and so we've never really administered a bustling server. But the server itself should run great under heavy stress. But again, we can wait. I'm not the type that really enjoys being an admin myself. I like to play. But I like to see a server being run correctly as well which is why we opened up a server in the first place. I don't like seeing servers where the admins/mods are using their powers in-game so freely. Sometimes it's necessary, but I think that should be a rare occasion. Most servers I've been on people are CONSTANTLY calling for admins/mods to help them with something, and that's so discouraging. I just like to see someone around to catch script kiddies in the act. Even if I'm getting screwed over by a bug, I don't really like calling on them. But my time playing DayZ Epoch I've seen that most people don't share the same mentality and I really just don't understand. Ok.. I'm done blogging, I'm going home. I don't think the issue is about deserving anything. They're giving passwords out of a basis of trust. Am I saying that people who have been here sharing and expressing themselves to the community for a good length of time AND have shown dedication to the project in one way or another should be trusted over some guy that creates an account and says HEY I LIKE EPOCH CAN I HAZ PW? Well... I would think so, but I don't know exactly what their process is. However, I'm thinking it's less that people are getting passed up and more that they're just getting overlooked because things are so crazy now. I didn't really ask for the pw myself because I'm not part of the in-crowd. I can't really watch Twitch because my bandwidth blows and I don't really know what's going on half the time anyways, so I'll just sit idly waiting in the backdrop lol. That is exact was I wanted to say. Here are a lot of ppl which support the devs and the admins. Like I said, I got the key nearly from beginning, I have hat access shortly to two servers when they change it PW once, but I would tread the ppl who support the mod since years/month differnt like they did. Not because they are better ppl, but they are known ppl, should be also trusted ppl and they do report bugs. It is also ok to give preference to twitch/youtube guys. So I switched over to EpochMod.com (0.1.0.3|1.30) BDKOTH03 US - HOSTILE TAKEOVER This server is not password protected and not whitelisted. The database works fine and everything saves properly. Yes you will see that I have not been on the forums for a long time, does not mean that that I do not know what is going on in the community though. I do understand that the long term supporters are wanting more, could I say, RECOGNITION, for their long term support? <--- Thats your Que guys that are wanting it ;-) But seriously, have you guys ever seen a mod, so complex, clean, AND GROWING?!!!! If you have access to the servers, it has been said sooooooo many times that the devs are wanting to see the bugs and kinks, because we ALL know that ARMA has them, and work them out one by one, NOT the way that is was done in the past with other games! Do you guys remember playing, unless you still do, every different mod on ARMA2? Each and every mod, had all different types of guns, glitches, frame rates that were cleaned up; those came from different server host such as the ones that are wanting the "recognition", and we did appreciate them then and will again in the future. The one thing that is putting OUR EPOCH DEV's ahead of all of that, <IN MY OPINION>, is that they are working together at is piece by piece, and going through a crap load of stuff in the process to make this mod like no other epoch mod that we have EVER seen! And it is well on its way. Makes me laugh at typing this (In one ear and out the other (now the ranting "Quote" fanatics will be having fun :lol:)) In just a little while longer, you guys will be able to get your servers up and running, IT IS STILL IN CLOSED ALPHA!!!!!!!! Got it "CLOSED"!! As in if you don't have a key, your are not testing the stress caps of the servers or finding bugs! As in, PRE-PUBLIC RELEASE!!!! Do you not trust that when it gets released to you different ones when it is public and they release the scripts for you hosting that you will NOT KNOW?! :wacko: Just be happy and be the "Stress Tester" and "Bug Finders" that you were given a 'KEY" to be! And stop wasting the Dev's and Admins times with petty, due to the timing!!, squalls! And help the devs instead of trying to be them... I was getting 170-200 ms, which was fine for the most part, but I didn't have to get into a gun fight. I can't get a decent ping to any server though with my pos isp. Ahh snap sorry to hear that cringe, if I was making $$$'s I would rent a dedi in the states and host one there too, but we're a small community with no plans to dominate the world with lots of servers and hence we only get enough to cover our dedi box each month. I haven't bene on #1 or #2 but someone else just posted something about the server going down and came back up wiped. Quite understandable. Most people don't have a problem, I just have potato internet. Like I said, it seems to run smooth even with a high ping, I just feel guilty playing on a server with such a high ping.. though people usually have no problem killing me regardless so I guess it's all good lol. Juan Posted October 11, 2014 Report Share Posted October 11, 2014 Hardcore is for many guys necessary because the mod gives you without 3rd person a much intensive,lovely gameplay.I don't play the mod since saturday and I am going to wait until a hc server comes out. It is too ridiculous how I fight against other people(hiding behind walls without any possibility to see enemy). It isn't worth in my opinion to play on non-hc server to be honest cheers The arma series is meant to be played in first person. 3rd Person was a carebear additive for the badz. Nonetheless we all have adapted and its almost like a more detailed socom, Which was my favorite shooter of all time. But i feel ya. Ever since Operation Flash Point.
