I'm on the verge of giving up

chriseeeee

Question

It should be the easiest thing to do after hours of installing plug ins and custom bases. But for some reason I'm failing so much with BEC and can't get it to launch.

I keep getting "missing the -f switch. Need a config file to startup!" and after trying so many different things I can not find where my BePath should lead to.

Can someone please help me here?

EDIT: FIXED

It took me around a week to get BEC working.  The most frustrating part was when you fix one problem, and then get high hopes that it will work, and then just to get a different error  :wacko:

But it's a great program once you get it configured.

Well maybe you could look into doing things differently? Let me explain..

I use Vilayer as a server provider, and while you can manually schedule everything with BEC they also have a couple other neat options.

1. is a script called server messages.  Basically just a script that runs and all you have to do is edit the message on the time you  want that message displayed and save it.

For example

14:00 -  Welcome to _____

14:30 - etc..

2. They also have a little task scheduler. It schedules the restarts at exact times, not tied to how long your server has been running. So if your restart is at 6:00PM but you had to manually restart it at 5, even though you're restarting your server every 4 hours it will still restart at the scheduled 6 pm.

Might be worth checking out if you are stumped with BEC.. Also Vilayer has a youtube channel with some helpful, albeit dated, videos on setting up your scheduler.

As it says, that file is an example only.  You should edit it to look more like this:

[Bec]
Ip = 127.0.0.1
Port = 2302
BePath = C:\epoch\BattlEye
Admins = Admins.xml
Commands = Commands.xml

[Misc]
ConsoleHeight = 45
ConsoleWidth = 165
AsciiNickOnly = False
MinPlayerNameLength = 3
Scheduler = Scheduler.xml
ChatChannelFiles = true
