How to hive two servers on separate maps?

delta_thames

Question

We are running a Chernarus server at the moment and just launched a second server using Napf (both servers on a single dedi).  We would like to allow players to go between the two maps and maintain character inventory.  How would I go about doing this?

Is it possible to hive inventory only (no worldspace coordinates)?  Ideally each player would have separate worldspace coordinates between each map but still be able to take inventory back and forth.

Thanks in advance

hi, you're lucky, this is actually happening on my servers. You can do it by using the same sql database for both.

This will keep the inventory but I noticed everytime you switch it brings you back near spawn points.

Hope this will help.

Yes, it should be explained in your hiveext.ini. You have a shared DB for players, and seperate db for both maps in terms of buildings/vehicles

Basicly you use the same Hive.ext, and then in the mission.pbo you edit the init.sqf and change the instict number, But i dont do it if their two different maps. It only works if its cherno and cherno, or napf and napf, dont do cherno and napf, the player will spawn if different places.

Did you do this for two different maps?

If you are using the same hive with the same map its fine is it not? you will spawn with your character and off you go, maybe not have your bases if you dont want them shared. But if there two different maps? the worldspace for chernarus characters might be in debug plains for napf? Just saw this and thought? huh?

It's meant to spawn you on the coast when you switch maps. Unless you like spawning under the map or in the air or in the middle of the ocean :D

But Epoch has been designed to do this since before it was even called Epoch :D
