    Not sure if that will work or not, but if your server is loading slowly, then it will wait until they are completely logged in to activate the admin tools. I should probably just put that check in there anyway.

    The issue hasn't appeared since adding this but since it happened 1/10 times or so I will confirm after a week or so!

    Another (sorry!) small question - do you know where the spawn crate template file is/ went? There used to be a blank template for creating new crates to spawn in (in this case a starter pack for players) but I can't seem to find the file! Doing great work man.

    I can't for the life of me find where the crates contents are being listed, any pointers?

    It would not surprise me if the GTX install was the culprit. It is well documented on here the problems people have had with GTX gaming.

    Hello, sorry for late reply but after switching hosts and a whole lot of other messing around it seemed that GTX was indeed the issue. Sorry for the bother and thank you very much again for all the effort you went to to help! Appreciate it massively (and also having not used these tools in years, there is a looot of good new stuff, great effort!)

     

    Edit: Small update/ minor issue: Sometimes the admin tools simply don't load for our admins - relogging a few times seems to fix the error, but any ideas? As I said, not huge issue.

    Edit: Appreciate the video but it's mostly going through config variables and a repeat of the guide I have meticulously followed, so no help there unfortunately.

  5. I use Vilayer so may be able to help. It needs to be in your mission file - which is vilayercodecustom -> missions -> epoch.chernarus (or whatever map youre using) -> custom

     

    I've been modifying my loot tables incredibly heavily and they all work fine. If this is definitely where you've got your files reply back and I'll have another think/ look

I'm pretty sure that the purpose of this update is to resolve a bunch of bugs that have been present, that most of us have taken care of in 1.0.5.1 and adding the last few features that were meant to be added by the dev team. I don't think the intention is there to add lots of new features that have already been added by server owners as they customized their own servers.

    I would imagine that a lot of server admins won't bother with the update because of the time they've invested in fixing bugs themselves and making Epoch their own. How many admins out there are really interested in redoing their servers one more time, especially considering the track record of updates causing new bugs that have to be fixed in hotfixes? It's going to result in the server list being split between servers running 1.0.5.1 and 1.0.6.

    I definitely understand this pov. I think if 1.0.6 can ideally focus on bug fixing (smelting ore is a classic as probably the most easily noticeable) and adding customisation, like I said adding a mission side crafting file or somethin similar. I assume (but really dot know) if loot tables can be made server side then crafting recipes could possibly too? To be honest I find suggestions for 1.0.6 difficult as I view epoch as a platform to be customised on top of rather than a particular style

    Of mod and in my opinion it's a pretty damn good one. I personally like a lower loot more survival style of server and have made one on epoch really Quite easily. A lot of people here are asking for bug fixes, what are they? I don't think I've ever noticed that many, possibly my play style.

  7. All these suggestions seem like a waste to me. People are suggesting that things that can be added to a missionfile be added into default Epoch - this makes no sense to me, if you want these things you can add them to your server without anyone having to download anything new.

     

    A new epoch patch should have changes in parts we can't edit serverside - new items/ new crafting recipes (actually maybe just look at A3 epoch's customisable crafting) etc

     

    I for one really hope Epoch 1.0.6 doesn't turn out to be an every-server-multipack of mods kind of thing

  8. Never had any problems with this Admin Tools release, truly brilliant - very easy to modify as well I've found, so many thanks for not making the code any more complex than it needed to be!

     

    One small question you may have some insight into - I added an option to the Admin Tools to manually spawn an animated heli crash (debug purposes mostly) but they always crash in the same place, is this something to do with how the script is called from the Admin Tools? Maybe always calling it from the Admin Tools means the same randomPos is always generated?

     

    I'm not asking for a fix, obviously you have no idea what my code is, but I was hoping you might know if this is likely to be an issue within crash_spawner or a global issue relating to calling the script from the Admin Tools.

    edit: The place they always crash is Novy Sobor btw, so kind of middle of the map, seems to me there could be a 'i dont know where to crash it so into the middle it goes' going on?

  9. This seems like something incredibly easy but I just haven't been able to nail it.

     

    In my head it's simply as easy as echoing the qty row from the trader table in the same it's echoing the itemid and price etc, does anybody have any ideas?

     

    I'm fairly new to this so not sure on syntax either, unsure as to whether its likely to be

     

    (_qty in stock)

     

    or

     

    "(" + _qty + " in stock)"

     

    or something similiar. I did try this using 'enhanced trader menus' or something similiar, but I think that was for a very old version of Epoch and as such it now has the odd bug.

  10. So is there someone/ a team working on a new Epoch patch? I don't mind at all how long it takes as I actually thought A2 Epoch had been abandoned for A3 so was assuming 1.0.5.1 was all we were getting. Seems like 1.0.6 will primarily be bug fixes?

     

    Also what's the deal with modding Epoch and releasing it as a new mod/ download? I've always wanted to change many things on my server that would require editing the actual mod code and can't be solely done in a mission file, but always assumed that releasing the Epoch code as a new mod (heavily modded or not) would have all kinds of legal issues so I never looked into it, is that the case?

  11. My friend bought a server with 0 knowledge, and since I had previous experience with things like PHP I was nominated to learn to mod Arma, I really can't stress how easy it is. It would be a waste of money to pay someone to install most things but Admin tools as Dubya said, is honestly a few files and a line or two, if you follow the tutorial that will come with the download it really is simple, absolutely not worth paying someone to do.

  12. Hey guys, I'm using nox's admin tools so just added the following line/ put the Heli crash spawner file in the right place, and it works in a sense, but all heli's start and crash in the exact same place, anybody got any ideas why/ how to fix?

Hey guys, been following this guide just to set up a local server on my computer to mess around with - haven't been able to find an answer to something which I think might be an obvious problem - can you connect to the server from the same computer? i.e. I've set up the server/ mysql etc on my computer that I play from and currently just time out on the Authentication screen until the server changes to 'game finished' after a minute or so, could this be why?

     

    Basically, does the server have to be set up on a seperate machine to any connecting computers?

  14. The thing I often forget is to add the name of the trader skin to the array at the top, for example mine starts with:

    etc

     

    CZ_Soldier, Villager1 and Special_Forces_MG all being ones I've added. I often restart the server to find the trader isnt there and I've simply forgotten to add the skin to the list. If it's not that, we may need to see a file or two, server_trader.sqf probably (at least just the bits you've added)

  15. Hey guys, fairly new to Arma SQF but picking it up fairly quickly. The only thing I'm wanting to do but am unsure about is altering the in-game map image? For example I've added some roads/ buildings just south of Vybor (extending it essentially), and was wondering where the map image file is located to open and repackage it? If it's even possible? I've found nothing from googling but comon sense tells me there must a map.jpeg or similiar somewhere within a PBO or something?
