  1. Hi, just wondering how the trash loot works in Epoch and if that method of spawning loot is available in a script for private use? I love that we can loot garbage piles & crates etc and would like to add that kind of looting script to all my own missions.

I'm a editing / scripting virgin so let me apologize in advance if this looting method is strictly a Epoch thing. Any help is appreciated.

  2. Is he playing with an activated Steam copy that wasn't originally bought on Steam?

I had a similar issue, I think I fixed by changing the file location in DayZ Commander back to my old Arrowhead folder, verifying ( which made it all effed up), then switching the file location back to Steam then re-verifying the Arrowhead file using DayZ Commander.

Now it works but if I load it up outside DayZ Commander it still shows mods are active that I didnt enable (beta, expansion).

  3. fixed...

i have another question... where i can download the patch 1.63 (125548) ill really appreciate it

edit: i cant patch it with steam... any other alternative?

I still use DayZ Commander to update DayZ etc

As for the 1.63 patch I couldnt find an alternative to using Steam. Are your A2 and A2 Operation Arrowhead activated on Steam? If not you can activate your non-steam version for free in the Steam library.

Hope that helps. (Probably won't if Steam isnt an option)

  4. I'll take a crack at question two:

"Just two years after the mass extinction of billions of people. Those that remain are left with remnants of a once technological society"

    That is all.

Edit: After reading the description again I realized it could be interpreted as if the world was a thriving technologicaly advanced society until a recent catastrophe. I originally assumed there was 25+ years of zombie apocalypse before epoch and that technology hasn't really advanced since real life present day.

i'm not sure iwould like the cloaking device in Epoch either but just to rebut your valid point. Present day in Arma 3 is 2035 so it's possible a cloaking device would exist when the apocalypse started.

More relative / plausible than some of the antagonists imo.

  5. All these fictional creatures should be optional imo. I was really hoping the loss of zombies would mean more realistic lifeforms like predatory animals. And/Or more elemental / natural threats, not magic spewing sorcerers and rock creatures :(

Still love the Epoch building and gameplay, I just hope the creatures can be removed on some servers sometime down the road.

  6. >wanting to pay money

    >for the privilege of testing

    >casual

inb4 mcbone bitching bout lost gear .

lol not nice! ...but that's the same thing I thought when reading his first post is a new thread named "all I need".

I say it's a fair request (minus the paying for a key) if he's willing to sign a friendly contract that would restrict him to this one privilege, without ever asking for anything else from anyone... ever.

    Don't you think that's fair?

    :)

  7. I had 2-3 dogs chasing me so I decided to cross some players to get the dogs to chase them instead of me. At one point a dog was about 15m from a player outside the house I was in but the dog didn't go after him. Same thing not long after when two players passed by the house the dog didnt even flinch.

So I went out on the porch to test them, he (the only one standing in view right downstairs from the porch) didn't move... so I went back inside, hid for about a minute then really slowly walked out the back door away from the house without any dogs following. Once I got about 50-70m away I started jogging and all the dogs at the house started barking and relentlessly chasing me again.

So I concluded they probably have an "Engage marker" on me and can probably hear me from 100m+ so once they get a track on me it follows me for some time even if they have no chance of spotting / seeing me. I'm not sure though.

  8. Personally I would rather these problems to start during the alpha phase so they can get fixed before release. I also think the OP did a good thing reporting this asap since most testers seem to just be playing the game instead of stopping to report bugs etc.

The Epoch team is doing there best so we the community should do our best to give feedback ...and exercise patience. We all have a long way to go before we can viably choose to leave because the product isn't perfect.

I'm happy to see the OP still reporting in. Seems like a valuable asset to have, I wouldn't want to see you leave over this, even though it is frustrating.

  9. Hmm, "No random trader dots", that means the brown dots, right? I like first person only, I am not sure, if I like "No random trader dots". I guess not.

my first thought on that was I think i'd rather 'only random traders', so no black static dots.

Also what would add more "hardcoredness" imo is disabling group chat to only have direct, vehicle and radio chat. So there's less privacy when talking longer distances. Or an ACRE-type chat which would make all chat go through in game channels even with players using Teamspeak.

As for Group show ID or whatever makes those hex icons... please get rid of that. Even in normal it should fade away unless we push any of the team buttons (~ to 0). Please! Those hexes get people killed! :)

  10. So I won a key in buhhdas stream and didnt have time to activate till now and when I try so it says key invalid plz help me

it's too late for that key, make sure you have everything you need before trying to redeem the key. Took me a while.

Need to download and install Epoch, log into steam in the same browser you redeem the key in. Then get lucky enough to redeem the key, choose your gender, and successfully get whitelisted... if no one esle with the same key was faster than you.

Good luck ! Hope that helps.

  11. I like self-regulating in game solutions like that bounty system instead of the admins getting harassed to solve in game problems. I would love this if it was automatic though, I thought of a bounty system but i'm no coder. Here goes... use any ideas you want.

when a player kills a player the killer increase their bounty payout. At traders or some designated area players could check the bounty map to get a *last know location (for free) of all players with bounties above a certain amount.

At the bounty map spot players can pay their bounty before becoming visible on the bounty map.

Players with a bounty do not appear on the bounty map when they are within the perimeter of their own plot pole or any "friendly" plot poles (by tagging).

*Players last known location automatically updates when a player with a bounty is spotted by another player with a radio (excludes bandits).

These are just ideas on scrunched up paper so use them as is or adapt them all you want.

  12. Mine isnt in Dayz or Epoch but can be provided by admin to make my dreams come true. The MK17 EGLM RCO. It has a kick ass scope that's good up to 1km and a lovely ironsight, GL, laser, fires 7.62 rounds. The Overwatch variant uses the HK 7.62 x 51 ammo and accepts DMR mags too ...but the iron sight isn't as pretty imo.

  13. I'd love to see a mod similar to ACE wounds and some of the ACE tools. Wouldn't have to be ACE, just saying it would be an awesome addition to the game imo.

I feel like morphine shouldn't be used to heal a broken leg. Making a splint from wood and burlap or canvas would even be a step in the right direction. Then morphine could be used to alleviate pain (maybe 500 blood plus restore blood like being full of food but for longer).

    Just a thought.

  14. you can glitch through the doors of any base. Even with the fix if you wanted in. So indestructable dosent mean much except you can hide in it during a firefight. Locked vehicles even when they are indestructable still blow up from kamikaze,so nothing is fool proof.

what your base is made out of dosent matter too much because of this, basically if you store your stuff in anything other than a safe on a pvp server youre going to have a bad time.

so true. Only safes are safe. Everything else we build is to fulfil the Lego loving kid in all of us... while Tommy two shoes gets to fulfil that little barbarian child in him too. Win-win imo.

I just hope the bases he kamikazes are occupied. You need to see the look on their face otherwise you look out of place killing yourself over and over in a survival based game. At least imo.

  15. The admins in the server I play in did a great job advising everyone about the recent changes and posted step-by-step instructions on updating. They offered all the help the players needed to upgrade and it really paid off. I haven't noticed any change, all the regulars are back and new players join every single day.

The debate seems to be taking a turn to the subject of donations vs services. If server owners see their servers as a business / service, why not discuss how best to serve the customer to make them want to stay ...and more importantly, to have the ability to easily join the server?

In business, it's easy to complain when a uncontrollable factor makes you lose customers, the challenge / fun is getting your customer to feel your service / server is better than all the others, when in fact there's very little that separate one server from another. That's what will help keep and make customers go the extra mile to join your server instead of one of the other similar ones.

From the outside (as a mere player), The relationship between server and owner seems to be one that should benefit the owner for some reason. When providing a free service to other without expectations (apart from actual donations) the onus is on the owners, I doubt anyone runs a server simply for profits, except maybe a bankrupt door-to-door used vacuum salesman (/ fool).

If we all enjoy playing the game we should all take pride in paying our share to keep the community active. Especially for this type of mod, since most players didn't pay a cent to play it (after buying A2 & OA).

IMO, the server owners do their part and go far beyond what is expected to help the devs keep the game alive, the players need to be reminded (by server message) that donations help maintain and upgrade the server and the players really need to be kept up to date on any changes and how to implement them. All that would greatly help the entire community in my opinion, from the fresh spawns all the way to the lead devs.

Just in case it wasn't already clear. I really appreciate everything the devs and server owners do for this community. Thanks!

  16. Since you know what real donations are and you read the licensing agreement, you seem to know the answer. There's no way around it apart from ignoring it or just accepting donations. I'm no lawyer but i'm pretty sure you can offer reliable service in exchange for donations so you can most likely encourage players to donate by giving perks to regulars and hope that influences them to donate.

I doubt giving perks to all players that come back over and over is considered a sale. Just don't expect a donation from every perk you give. That way you'll keep those players that expect perks and have more chances to get donations by keeping players in your server.
