  1. You do realise that its not the Epoch developers adding the extra guns (most likely from the mod Overwatch), all the extra donator bullcrap, and all the other strange mods ei deployable bikes etc.

There are hardly any vanilla Epoch servers out there But don't loose hope, some people might setup or might already have setup some Vanilla servers.

If you don't know how to connect to these servers, pop me a message and ill help you out :)

  2. Hmm might be a nice addition to our servers.

Got a couple of questions tough :

    1. Is this going to cost me money in anyway? I'm not a cheap bastard but this is not something i desperately need.

    2. Is there a build- in server maintenance system? Update mods to latest update etc.

    3. Is there a build- in server monitor that allows me to see who's online, i can ban/kick/ private message them, i can write in side channel, etc.

  3. Hello Goonfather,

Not really sure what your question is,

Do you want people to be able to buy the clothes in a package from a special clothes trader?

This is already out,  When using please give credits to the creator(s) of the script(s).

Do you want people to be able to buy  the clothes and once they bought it their clothes auto change since not all clothes are in packages? Example, the UN skin is not available in a clothes package.

Not sure, it might be possible but i wouldn't know where to start. Might be a good idea to contact Zupa, he's the guy who created the script above.

Or do you want to give people a certain skin through the database?

You can do this but remember some skins from arma come with only 6 inventory slots, 4 pistol ammo slots etc. So you'll need to watch out.

I hope i helped you out, if not let me know ;)

  4. I added the fair mission system and the plot management together without testing if either one would work :P <-- my mistake

I deleted plot management first since i then later found out that the latest version of Plot for Life does not work with plot management. I hope Zupa will update his mod and tutorial asap :)

So after deleting plot management it was still deleting items from safes/ vehicles/ sheds, so i decided to remove the mission system. And even after i deleted both mods it was still deleting items, so i had to redo alot of my work since i forgot to make a backup, i have learned from my mistakes :)

  5. Thanks for the amazing addon, i am putting this on our server(s).

    Also,

Thanks for all your other addons you have released to the community although you wont be seeing a lot of appreciation back... I'll put your name at our login credits.

    So a BIG thanks for:

    Better Refueling,

    A Plot for Life

    MySQL database backup

    soon to come Dominion :)

    and Ring of protection.

All of these are really cool! Keep up the good work, might be a good idea talking to zupa to see if you can combine his mods with yours aswel.

Maybe a Combined Plotpole mod, featuring :

    Plot for Life

    Snapbuild (pro)

    Plot management

    Door management

And you can toggle them on and off (DZE_plotForLife = true; DZE_snapBuildPro = false; DZE_plotManagement = true; DZE_doorManagement = false;)

    Keeping things easy for everyone.

  6. The DayZ mod is dying, i've kept an eye out on the numbers of servers and players myself and its quite shocking...

I remember when there were about 3500+ servers with ad least 5+ players on them, now its around 300 servers having 5+ players on them... Everybody is moving to DayZ Standalone and now Epoch Arma 3 is available for anyone to play, its not making things better.

+ DayZ StandAlone is getting more popular due its updates.

People are moving on to Arma 3, DayZ StandAlone and other games, since the Arma 2 engine is "to old". It takes a lot of performance from a PC to be able to run Arma 2, and adding a Mod like DayZ to it isn't making things better.

Due to this exact reason i've shutdown my servers and am moving on to Arma 3 servers, i've been playing Arma 3 for a bit now and am verry happy with its engine!

  7. Hello Ominous,

First off all i bet you've had loads of messages from people that are happy to help for the money when the problem might be dead obvious. Im happy to help FOR FREE the best i can, we're a community for christ sake, why not help one another?

    Files:

To help you out ill need some basic files from the server.

    1. server RPT file

    2. the .bat file that loads up the server

    Questions:

When you setup the server, did you first install the normal Epoch mod and then add overwatch?

Are you sure your .bat file has the correct information? Napf is the map i used to use for my server.

    @echo off
    start "arma2" /min "C:\Users\YOURFILEPATH\arma2oaserver.exe" -port=PORTNUMBER "-config=instance_24_Napf\config.cfg" "-cfg=instance_24_Napf\basic.cfg" "-profiles=instance_24_Napf" -name=instance_24_Napf "-mod=@DayzOverwatch;@DayZ_Epoch;@DayZ_Epoch_Server;"

Are you using any loot tabels? If so are they custom or pre- made and did you just download and add them?
Did you unblock the ports in your firewall?

Try and answer all the questions as they are all necessary to fix your server.
I had the same problem when first making a OverPoch napf server, the problem with me were the loot tabels not working and some how fucking up the whole server.

  8. Hello,

Hey no problem man, i was in the same position you were in when i just did my first addon :P

There are tutorials but 9/10 of the guys that make the addons expect you to know the basics, which most of the guys that add the addons to their server, don't know.

And besides, ive got nothing to do :P Again, if you need more help with anything else, let me know ;)

  9. Hello,

z is a prefix defined in a $pboprefix$ file in root of unbinarized PBO files (google for vbawol github for open source).

While the structure might be c:\games\arma2\@myMod\Addons\code.pbo game engine uses its own paths started from your @mod. Video in my sig explains this.

If you are using PBOManager, open up a PBO and click that blue cog wheel icon, you will see what I mean about prefixes

Other words, don't worrie about it :P

NOTE: In the * tutorial* i explain 2 ways on how to add the buildings to your server, server side and client side. I reccomend adding them server side.

There are 2 ways of adding buildings to your server, with the MPMissions folder (client side) or with the dayz_server.pbo (server side). People have full access to the MPMissions folder since, when they join your server, they download this folder. People do not have any access to the dayz_server.pbo since its server side only.

    Finally, editing :)

So when you don't care if your Buildings get stolen or not, you could use the MPMissions folder, by editing the Init.sqf you can add them to your server.

    Init.sqf

The init.sqf is located in your MPMissions folder, in your server's directory. Example; C:\Users\USERNAME\Desktop\DayZEpochServer\MPMissions\Init.sqf

Every body's path is driffent since every body likes to name their folders something else.

    So once you've opend your Init.sqf, scroll all the way down (yes all the way down), and paste the line [] execVM "location of your builds\the buildings sqf file name.sqf";

Example mine is in my server folder, but say it was in my MPMissions foler, i keep it in a Addons folder, then a Buildings folder to keep it all organised and neet. So the path would be: [] execVM "Addons\Buildings\CustomBuildings.sqf"

You've got 2 important files in your server, the dayz_server.pbo and the MPMissions. dayz_server.pbo = server side only and the MPMissions is being downloaded by the client, giving him full access to the file. Putting addons (mods) in your MPMissions gives less stress to your server but when adding custom addons that no other server has, they'll get stolen by clients since they have full access to it.

So now that we know a little about the MPMissions folder, let's move on to the safer file, dayz_server.pbo

    dayz_server.pbo

This is a more safe and secure way to add in Custom addons, Buildings you've placed in the editor are also Custom addons since you can't find them on any other server but yours.

Its basically the exact same way but just a diffrent folder.

    server_functions.sqf

So what you do is unpack your dayz_server.pbo with a unpacking tool, i like to use pbo manager.

Once unpacked, open up the init folder, then open the server_functions.sqf

Scroll all the way down (hint: all the way), and past the same line that you past in the MPMissions folder.

    [] execVM "location of your builds\the buildings sqf file name.sqf";

Example mine is in my server folder, i keep it in a Addons folder, then a Buildings folder to keep it all organised and neet. So the path would be: [] execVM "Addons\Buildings\CustomBuildings.sqf"

    Questions that might pop in your head;

    Whats a path?

A path is kinda like a road for your server to find his a goal/ destonation.

So it opens (follows) diffrent kinds of folders (roads) to get to a certain file (destonation/ goal).

    What is server side?

Server side is server only, so this is being executed (run) by the server. Say you add buildings, its being ran by the server and people do not have access to these files.

    What is client side?

Client side are your players, they download the MPMissions folder and have full access to this folder. Remember when ever you join a server your downloading the mission file? That's the MPMissions folder you're downloading.

Again, i highly recommend keeping your own scripts/ addons/ buildings/ you name it, to your self. And if you want to hand out buildings/ addons/ scripts/ more, just make a post on the forums about it and release it. There are enough people out there that copy and steal your hard work and call it theirs, and sometimes even get money for it.

If you have any questions or if you have no more hair to pull out, let me know and ill send you a wig ;)

  10. Hello,

With internet do you mean a launcher EI DayZCommander/ DayZ Launcher?

Have you propper setup your instance folder, have the correct port etc.

    DayzCommander:

    DC is a bit fucked at the moment and takes time first time you join, so do the following;

    -  Open dayz commander and go the server you're trying to join.

    -  As you can see the server's IP is showing, rather than its name so, refresh the server every 3/5 minutes.

    -  If you refeshed it multiple times and its still not showing up, try restarting DayZ Commander and try again.

    -  Join the server when you see the server's Name rather than the IP and when the ping is not red and 1000, but when its green/ yellow.

Since it could be 10000000 things, id rather be on TS to try and resolve this issue. Also good to know, you on a dedibox or are you renting a server?

    Regards,

  11. Hello,

Lol totally forgot about the URL, just woke up ;)

And no, it shouldn't be the skin you use for your trader.

Could it be related to the particular skin in use? If it's exactly the same code and running from the same file, on the same machine, I don't think it's due to machine specs/stress.

With that i ment, that the Hosts dedi's are getting a lot of stress that they can hardly handle. Causing lag on all servers.

  12. Hello,

I've had a load of trouble trying to get OverPochIns to work but didn't do it in the end. Simply because you do not get all the options that origins has, EI building the houses step by step with concrete etc. It has to be done the epoch way which just ruind it for me really. + It adds stress to your server.

    Installation Guide

This is the post made by @LunchBoxCharly ill make quickly make one that is a bit more step by step.

    1. Download the Dayz_epoch_origins_2.6.zip here.
    2. What you do now is replace your current dayz_server.pbo, located in @Dayz_Epoch_Server, with the one located in the zip file you just downloaded (step 1).
    3. Delete your MPMissions folder in your server folder, its the folder where your .bat file/ @DayZ_Epoch/ @DayZ_Epoch_Server is located aswel. Then copy the MPMissions folder located in the zip file you've just download (step 1) and paste it in your server folder.
    4. Open HeidSQL, login and double click the database you are using for your server. Mine is called epoch_database.
    5. Almoost at the top you should see a tab called Database: (your database), mine is called Database: epoch_database. Next to that there is a blue arrow, click on it.
    6. Open the zip file you've downloaded at step 1 and drag the origins.sql in to the blank field in HeidiSQL, so youve open the querry tab (blue arrow) and now you drag it at the top in the blank field.
    7. 1 row above the Database: (your database), there are some more buttons and a blue arrow aswel. Click on the blue arrow to run the added sql file. Then restart your heidisql by closing it and reopening it + login in.

---- If you use Infistar ----

*** NON ADMINS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO BUILD ORIGINS HOUSES IF YOU DO NOT SET TO FALSE OR IT WILL KICK AND BAN THEM***

    1.  (_VTC =  true;)  set this to false  (_VTC =  false;) this is located in your @DayZ_Epoch_Server, dayz_server, init.

---- If this does not work, then you need to upgrade your version of infistar. Do this by simply downloading the newest version of infistar and reinstalling it. ----

Batch file (If you run from a dedicated server):

    @echo off
    start "arma2" /min "Expansion\beta\arma2oaserver.exe" -port=2666 "-config=instance_13_Tavi\config.cfg" "-cfg=instance_13_Tavi\basic.cfg" "-profiles=instance_13_Tavi" -name=instance_13_Tavi "-mod=@DayzOrigins;@DayZ_Epoch;@DayZ_Epoch_Server;"

Change the port, to the port your current batch file is using. I use 2302.

Since you've installed a fresh new server you don't really have to make a backup of your database since its easy enough to re- make one.

If you have any more questions or issue's, let me know. And a good idea is asking the guy who started all of this, LunchBoxCharlie. And or reply to his
