Destroying Locked/Abandoned Helis

What's the best/easiest way to destroy a locked heli that's been abandoned? Running into a lot of these on my server and while the admins do a great job in clearing them, I was just thinking that I could help things along.

I don't have access to satchel charges/heavy vehicle weapons... can I use a sniper rifle? M203 with HE rounds ? Frag grenades? Is there a location on the heli I should focus my fire upon?

For what it's worth, my intentions are good... Not trying to mess with active player's vehicles.

Hand grenades should do the trick, but with (for example) a chinook it's gonna cost you a lot of grenades i think.

 

Basically heavy guns should work too, but again, it will take some bullets for some vehicles :)

 

Personally i wouldn't be bothered with it, and let the admins take care of it :P

Yeah... the only reason I'm even considering it is to force a respawn/force them to be added in the traders.

 

Figured that might be the case... but also figured it might be worth asking. 

 

Is there a spot on the heli that is worth focusing on that would cause it to explode? Or are all spots equal?

Depends on the type of heli, but for most helicopters their weakest point is just below where the main rotor connects to the rest of the frame

the easiest way is to ram it with other vehicles until it explodes. on my epoch server I just go find an unlocked vehicle (any will do, but offroad types usually work better for more speed offroad) and ram it slowly until it explodes. by slowly i mean not full speed but not barely nudging it.... you can even blow up ospreys this way. (ive done it) if you use a ural or one of the bigger vehicles MTVR etc you might even get out of it without blowing up your ramming vehicle. It's also pretty safe to do as you won't completely explode on impact. it will give you time to get out of the vehicle before it explodes if it does.

 

ive never been able to blow up a grounded aircraft with grenades or HEs but i've destroyed a lot with other vehicles. just dont ram it with anything expensive if you planned to sell it lol.
