Am I building wrong?

Hi all,

How do I place things like stairs and roofs perfectly?

As you see in my videos below:

http://youtu.be/HtvgVwmsr64 - Stairs

http://youtu.be/bvN0w8lXz1A - Roof

As you can see they jump all around, I have tried from many different angles before and after upgrading the stairs. They always have this problem... and the roof I just cant get to align and sit flush.

Am I placing these in the wrong order? Is there a better way to build?

Build and learn build and learn. Basically NEVER upgrade your stairs unless you are content with the alignment and all the surrounding walls that you put and not gonna put anything else there. Once you upgarde, your stairs won't snap. They hardly snap even unupgraded (but you can adjust with FREE build mode).

Protip- use SNAP build to align a structure and then FREE mode to make it even from both sides, or one side whatever (especially if you have problems, holes between walls etc. Move it closer to you or farther away to make room for other walls (because sometimes even if everything is snapped, the last wall won't snap no matter what because that 1 milimiter was lost due to incorrect Epoch snapping model (it is not your fault but the developers).

Another important thing - NEVER upgrade your stud walls with metal unless you have build a roof on top and not gonna make any changes to it. Upgrading structure makes it usually impossible to snap (it just doesn't snap) so make everythng from stud walls and floors and bare stairs and only when done then you can upgrade.

To snap stairs into 1x1 block you have to build only and only 2 walls (1 and 2 next to each other). If you build 3 or 4 walls surrounding it, even unupgraded stairs will NOT snap.

And lastly - even if you make everything perfectly even, there is 100 percent chance that after restart  your walls, floors will move a little into one or other direction and you will have gaps. You can slightly avoid that building from cinder, but you will still have gaps between floors or at least they won't be even.
