Guest
See this is what I don't get... instead of owning up to things and/or reversing bad decisions in the face of a wave of backlash from the community, why would an Epoch developer try to either a) flat-out lie about it, or B) try to wriggle out of it... It's like you don't understand that every time someone does something like that, it makes the situation even worse :-/ And look, there's nothing personal about this; I might come across as confrontational sometimes, but my number one priority is the COMMUNITY. Darth_Rogue
So why is there a CRC check in your EpochServer.dll which crashes arma3server.exe if you modify the server PBO? Well I guess that locks people out of using Infistar admin tools then. I'm sure folks who have pre-bought those will be super happy. *breathes a sigh of relief that I saved that $50* :D
cen
Can't be true considering Dave (MGT) has been working with infiSTAR (Chris) from day one.

TayTayTheKiller
So why is there a CRC check in your EpochServer.dll which crashes arma3server.exe if you modify the server PBO? If this is the case how would we add things like custom antihacks? Guessing official community servers have special privileges or this is not the case? Whether or not GSPs have an unrestricted version of EpochServer.dll, I'm not sure.

Guest
Special privileges? No, what I'm saying is, MGT aren't running infistar at the moment. And they're not best pleased about it.
RC_Robio
If it similiar to wasteland, the antihack will actually be ran outside of the server.pbo. And I believe I read before the you can toggle their anti-hack on or off if you wish to use an outside antihack.

vbawol
I think its quite interesting how some want to get all up in arms about something we have already said would be the case. You do not need to edit our server pbo to make a mod for your server. You may not understand the reason, but I can tell you that it will allow for better mods with less support issues for all. If some people want to a way to customize this setting or that setting we will add the needed features to allow it.At 0.2.5 (25%) It is not allowed to modify our work and redistribute it especially for commercial purposes. This will change as we become more feature complete. Keep in mind A3 Epoch is not like DayZ mod in that it was given to the community after Dean got his SA deal. We have no such deal and are still actively developing our Arma 3 Epoch and will be for some time. ROFLer

Would you care to enlighten us as to how we're supposed to use something like infiSTAR then, when you've locked down the server files to this extent? People are "all up in arms" because you're preventing them from managing their servers effectively. You're right; people don't understand the reason WHY you would think it was appropriate to block a key tool in most server owners' belts.

There are plenty of other freeware admin tools out there, all of which would be blocked by this move by the Epoch developers. Not to mention other server-side mods. Hell, lets say you want to change the trader markers on the map... oh well, tough luck. Want to change the skins of the traders? Nope. Fancy altering the random AI spawns? Forget about it. You see where I'm going with this? At this stage in development, there isn't parity between the features included in Epoch, and the stuff which is already out there which can extend it. Sequisha
I'm not entirely sure where this sense of entitlement comes from, MDC. Our focus has been trying to get Epoch at it's core as solid as possible. It's not our responsibility to make sure all 3rd party changes and software are compatible right out of the gates. We're still early in development, perhaps you'll just have to wait before sticking your fingers in someone elses work.
