Roadblocks in re-install of DayZ with Steam and Play with Six

Cynasure

Question

I ran DayZ Epoch on my Win 8 machine until I tried to upgrade to Win 8.1.  My Pavilion PC hated it so I 'refreshed' back to 8.  This had the unfortunate effect of wiping my DayZ files/programs.  I went to Steam and reloaded Arma 2 and Op. Arrowhead - but they loaded to a different location (program files x86...) than before.   I opened each game in Steam and got into the bootcamp and then closed.  When I try to launch the Epoch mod through Play with Six, I have a 'Game not Found" message where Launch should be.  When I try to Install the @dayz_epoch 2GB mod I get the message "To use this game you must own and have fully installed a supported game"

Note 1 - I opened a 'support' account with Steam so I could ask them what to do, but when I tried to ask a question, they give a 'product' dropdown that doesn't open - and so I can't ask a question.  Nice roadblock.

Note 2 - more than one person said load Dayz Commander - tried to download it but after the DL stops it says to open All Progrrams to start my software - and commander is not listed.  Another roadblock.

So I'm doing something wrong and for the life of me I can't get anyone to help walk me through the steps to get this fixed.  Help?

There isn't any difference in Win 8 or Win 7 for where the game installs as a default. I never used playwithsix but I assume there is a way to change the location that its looking for in its settings somewhere. DZC had the option to override the default install folder. DZL can do it as well.
