  1. It becomes incredibly frustrating to have to babysit all of the lockboxes and shelves (and soon, safes) in your base to keep them from disappearing. Some friends and I put some lockboxes in our base this past Saturday, accessed them on Sunday, and then they were gone when we logged in Wednesday. The base was secure; no walls had been breached, the vehicles were untouched, and the shelves right next to the lockboxes were just fine.

I understand storage objects that are not in a base (i.e., outside a frequency jammer radius) disappearing after a certain period of non-use. However, storage objects in a base should be maintained by the frequency jammer. If and when the base itself starts to despawn from lack of maintaining, the storage objects should be the last items to despawn because that gives other players a chance to loot the derelict base.

Removing a storage object in a base if it hasn't been accessed recently makes little sense. Maybe a lockbox/shelf is full of building supplies in case repairs are required. There's no need to access those materials regularly, but it's something that's good to have on hand. Similarly, maybe you keep all your satchel charges in a lockbox. You might not need them frequently, but they are definitely nice to have.

  2. I don't understand at all how base materials that deteriorate in strength over time is functionally superior to the maintenance system. Your situation only allows you to play once a week or so. Under the system you propose, your base would be easily breachable after six days. That system would also make it a HUGE pain in the ass to actively maintain a base. You would have to remove and replace every single component every seven days. If you have a larger base, you'd have to spend your one day a week playing just looting for replacement materials and rebuilding your own base.

These suggestions would have the effect of eliminating base building as a fun activity rather than modifying it in a way that would work for those who play less frequently. Just find a server where the maintenance window is ten days. That's not WAY longer than the one week default (so the server won't get bogged down), but it provides some additional cushion for people who only play once per week.

As Brez points out, the jammer doesn't currently maintain storage items, which is a big annoyance. Once that's fixed, the current system will work better for everyone.

  3. And this is way your base location sucks, man :D if you build a base inside a building, make a building inside with floors and roof at least. But since it seems that you were just started building a base, well... tough luck :)

Building base walls inside of a building wouldn't have prevented what happened in the video. The sappers literally spawned in on top of us in the building; constructed inner walls would have had zero impact. Plus, sappers can just walk straight through built base walls/doors, so that wouldn't have provided any protection even if the sappers spawned outside and followed us in.

  4. It would make sense to remove the spawn ability from anyone within a jammer radius. That way, it would still be possible to have a sapper spawn elsewhere and then lure it to a base. However, given the current spawn rate for drones and sappers it's a constant matter of "I hear a sapper/drone outside" when working within a base, and then going outside to take care of it. Gets kind of annoying, especially since sappers can walk through walls and trap/kill you in your base if you don't go out and deal with them.

Maybe the video demonstrates that the spawn system is working as programatically intended, but perhaps not quite as conceptually intended?

The mod is completely amazing, by the way. The team is doing fantastic work.
