    Sequisha: Your work and your modifikation is good, your Team works great. so dont start to write bullshit here. your mod wouldn't be the first and at least not the last who dies cause the Dev Team are jackasses... ok? i saw a lot DEV's Teams broken or the Mod dieying in case of this.. would be realy sad :(

     

     

    Some of your points I disagree with but Ill bypass that atm (not duping of course).  But this ^ you need to stop.  This is their mod and this is their forums they can do whatever they like.  Honestly Ive read his posts and he replies to people that are (to put it softly) mentally touched.  They want this game to be easy mode or think that just because something bad happens to them that the mod is trash and his posts are legit.  If they put their truck or base in a less obvious position people wouldnt find it.  Bases are meant to be raided, it happens.  No reason to cry about it on here.  You find a new spot and hunt for more resources to make a new jammer/ walls.  Its the nature of the game and hes just pushing people in the direction that they need to go.  Basically telling them to not be so butthurt and play the game for what it is.  And trust me this mod wont die.  Its fun as heck and Ill play it for as long as its available.

  2. I can't offer an argument in relation to the technical problems with indestructible bases, but I can with the playing aspects. And it is of my opinion that destructible bases will result in the loss of players.

    All that being said, I'm only advocating having indestructible materials alongside destructible materials. This worked well on mgt A2 Epoch, where base takeovers were commonplace, and the aggrieved simply had to learn how to make a secure base if they didn't want to suffer losing their home again.

    Not everyone had the patience or knowledge to make a full indestructible cinder base. Bases built on the side of existing, destructible buildings were also commonplace, which lead to many being taken over by having the building they'd built onto, blown up.

    So I'd say that indestructible materials doesn't mean all bases will be Inpenetrable.

    I do hope your solutions are ground breaking and remove the constant destruction of bases. Before the wannabe moderators jump in to point out the game isn't finished, I already know. But as it is now, the mod is losing players aplenty. Just look at the server lists.

     

    This is just, wow.  Indestructible bases? Really? Dumbest idea ever.  Talk about easy mode.  Its part of the game to go out and have to find the equipment (satchels) to open up a base and see what is inside.  If people just had indestructible bases then it just turns into a bank.  There is no sense of loss.  For all the people that want more realism ( and Im not saying this is yall) you want to add something so unrealistic that is borders on stupidity.  This thread has really blown my mind about how players always want things that they think will help but will just add more problems.  Im glad the dev team isnt even looking into this as a possibility.  I do understand that people dupe and that sucks ( I am not, nor have ever been one and I search for my satchels one at a time and use them shortly after finding) but that is no reason to take a large part of the game out to make it easy.  Bases are meant to be a home but also a nut that can be cracked to find the sweet meat (that is loot) inside.  /rant and opinion

     

    As a side note I would like to say to you skydogs that I have read quite a few of your posts and Im not a fan.  I dont like the direction you bring to things but they are your opinions and you are free to have them.  My suggestion, though, is to understand that just because you feel a certain way does not mean the larger majority feel the same way.

    My terrain settings were already at ultra.  That in no way fixes the problem.  It is as I stated earlier all about object view distance and what the server is setup to show.

     

    +1 Got the same bugs with a decent machine and view distance maxed. It is in fact restricted by the server settings.

    I feel like i was able to look half the island in the editor, but this gave me about 20 frames, flying in the heli.

    But i guess a viewing distance for about 3 Km should be possible.

    Whats the server cap right now? 2? 3? 1,5?

     

    Currently it seems it is set to around 2km but sometimes it is hard to tell due to fog.   Fog causes the view distance to lessen and quite often I can only see out to about 1.5km (note these are in one direction, radius, not a diameter).  It would be nice to set both object and overall distance to 3km but I'm not entirely sure you can set both to the same value.  I know you can set them both to the same value when in settings but that is for single player/editor.

  4. honestly this is quite a detriment.  I have seen this issue as close as 1km away and there is nothing a user can do because it is set server side.  This is also probably one of the reasons that epoch gets such good fps but of course some of the ways they code have helped that as well.  Also this is not a overall distance problem but rather an object visibility problem (note the settings for view distance include overall and object view distance).  I have tested this and have come to realize that you generally need 2.5km of object view distance to allow for sniping at 2km distance.  Even with this setting there can be a small amount of variance but it is worlds better than what we currently have.

As stated in the topic title if you die in a vehicle your body and gear disappear.  We have had this occur multiple times to us as well as people we have killed.  So far vehicles that have done this are: Huron, Hummingbird, Hunter (enemy vehicle that we blew up while they were in it).  I believe my friends have had it happen in other vehicles as well but I cannot verify that.

     

    My friends have reported to me that this does not occur in other mods atm which leads me to believe it is epoch based but I have not tested this as of yet.

Hey Nic.  Yeah I just recently found the huron as well.  What would be nice, and I believe bohemia is working on this since this was just the preliminary release of the dlc, is when the modules for the taru become detachable we will have 1 Taru and will be able to find the modules on the map scattered around.  Make them rare of course but it would be nice.  And I have noticed that the Taru does spawn multiple variants on the map at the same time as well. 

     

    I think the real issue however is the advanced flying model.  The base helos are getting sold more often than not rather than being flown which makes it hard to steal / find them. 

     

    Anyway aside from that helos are nice on epoch but lets face it half the time if you are flying you cant do anything else.  Recently Ive taken to hiding Helos and just going out on foot as I tend to have more fun with the group of guys that I play with.  I guess what Im trying to say is epoch is more about the ground game anyway and helos make things quicker but they arent useful all the time so not having one isnt that big of a deal.

  7. Now that the public release has been announced don't you think it's time that a custom scripting area be created?

     

    Obviously there will be a set of popular mods that will come along that almost every server will run just like they did for ARMA 2 Epoch, some of those mods even became a main stream part of the Epoch mod itself.

     

    If they wanted servers to be kept vanilla then they shouldn't have announced they're releasing the server files, what's the point in 1000+ vanilla servers? Especially when I'm sure there are certain mods that will be used on a lot of the servers that may require slight modification of the Epoch code, especially it's AH.

     

    No I dont think that its time for a custom scripting area.  The server files are being distributed so that people may run servers but they are supposed to keep them stock so that any problems that may arise can be reported and fixed by the mod dev team.  If you start having problems that are associated with something you added to the mod but report it as a problem then the mods will waste time trying to fix a problem that was not there in the first place.  And you are right there is no point in having 1000 vanilla servers but people seem to think that they want their own server for some reason.  Honestly I wouldnt give out the files until epoch was in full release just because of people such as yourself that dont hesitate to say and I quote "I'll run it how the hell I like".  This is not the attitude that is needed here especially when the devs are trying to release a great mod and are just looking for help to diagnose problems in this alpha state.

Usually I find quite a few with loot.  I would say make sure you check in every room and hallway because I have seen a house with nothing in it and opened a door on the second story to find dang near 5 lootables in one room.  I have even started checking the hallways in the windowed buildings because they have the chance of a peg board on the wall and I didnt even realize it.  One thing I do is I hit lootable trash spawns while doing houses so maybe that gives me a little more time for stuff to spawn in (i dont know how you loot so Im just trying to give a suggestion)

  9. Not trying to talk/start Sh*t, just that people like "Cheif" need to realize why theirs threads and post like what he talked about. People like him, dont understand why the public server files are an issue that gets people fired up. All I am saying is if you dont know the background you cant really say something about it without knowing what happends. "Dont judge a book by its cover" is all am saying.

     

    People like me eh?  I know why people want public server files and I know that, like i stated before, that they will be ready when the mod team decides to push the files out.  Crying like a baby looking for a teet wont help those appear any sooner nor will threads like this one.  I have friends that run high end servers for A2 epoch and they are foaming at the mouth for them (exaggeration of course) but thats not going to help them get it either. 

     

    As far as my earlier post it was to say what axle said best, you should be posting/playing/supporting the mod team on this forum to help make a better game not trying to tear them apart.  I would believe Axle and the other mods any day over a guy that sells code, illegally in my opinion, for an anti hack that he himself made damn near necessary.  You know because he used to script hacks himself.

I think its nice that a good loot spawn like churches (though it sometimes gives nothing)  are so spread out.  You know there are many more churches than military bases and they are just spread out.  Makes it so you cant camp them like military installations.  That is the one good thing about this loot table.  Also military bases do spawn loot they just dont have the possibility of as much per structure or the higher chances of a weapon crate.  I think the way it is currently is fine.

  11. Yeah I doubt anyone except who were involved know the truth.  And why would I be kissing anyones ass.  Im just appreciative of a good mod that I can spend my time on.  Im sure both of you know everything though and the world revolves around you and not the sun .... 

     

    And as far as it being freedom of speech sure you can spout off whatever idiocies you like but I am incredulous to think that you can do that then expect to be given server files.  What tool behavior is this.  Also I have my right to free speech as well so suck it Floss.

  12. what is pay to play.  I know I am not mistaken in the fact that you can play any game mode that you want that includes the dlc content but you just cant use the content.  Also notice that a lot of things are getting added for free like shooting from vehicles.  Im sure if bohemia was just trying to screw you they wouldnt have added such a sought after feature.  I could go on but I digress.

You know guys I'm sure when this actually becomes relevant you will get all the answers that you are looking for.  As of right now though I see these types of threads repeatedly asking for a release of server file or when it will happen and, especially since they have said they will release when ready, its getting a little irritating.  Why don't you let the guys do what they need to do and they will give the info out when its ready. 

     

    Two more things.  First off I just want to tell axle and the other mods I appreciate what they are doing and that Im impressed with what I have seen so far and Im excited to see what will be coming in the future.

     

    Secondly I saw the thread "we do this for the people" and a couple of you that have posted in here were in that one as well.  I would like to ask you what gives you the right to say half the crap you have to this mod team?  They have been forthcoming with what they can and in any creative process you dont want all the beans spilled at one time.  Given certain things being in development what good would it have done to include people that are not involved in the scripting process.  Anyway I know that part was off topic and I also know the mod team can fight their own battles but I just find something inherently wrong with criticizing them on one step but then mooning over a file release on the other.  Anyway /rant

  14. There is a thermal Vision in both of the new helis and they arent tradeable, they should be removed as of now.

    The cargoheli has some weird bugs like jumping when getting into Pilot seat and killing or damaging surrounding infantry w/o any reason... Also they block all tge spawnslots for the normal helus, so i cant fly anyways

    there is thermal?  I dont think that is right.

     

    Just checked Taru does have thermal but huron does not.  Honestly it doesnt really matter because when looking through that scope you miss stuff half the time anyway but meh.

I got the game for 30$ in alpha ... 25$ for 3 dlc packs (although there werent many choppers in this one) is not a big deal.  And from what I understand they are adding 2 other choppers they just werent ready.  Its your prerogative to not buy the dlc but once again what does it really do to hinder your play?  It makes it so you cant fly ONE helo (I have not seen the Huron yet in game so I dont know if its in).  If not being able to fly ONE helo makes you hate the mod maybe you didnt like it in the first place.

     

    As far as not having the money, its okay, shit happens trust me I know.  But like I said not being able to fly one of the choppers is no reason to make it so the rest of us cant use what we did purchase.  Honestly this feels like kindergarten mentality.  I cant use X toy so I dont want Johnny to be able to use it either.  Not the way to be and (especially if you have children) not the way to teach them to be.  Eventually I'm sure you all will purchase the content (might be when the price drops) but I'm sure you can see the point I'm trying to make here.

     

    As a side note this topic originally started as an excited post anticipating what the dlc content and the other content added with it would bring to Epoch.  You have turned it into a petty quibble about how much you have to pay for a dlc pack.  Not cool.  If you want to complain about the price or the content found in this pack I would suggest going to Bohemia's website.  Im sure you would have better luck talking with the company that made the pack than with the people that are trying to enjoy the Epoch mod.

I would like to point out that (using the ARCO as an example) there is a very feint dash located above the ^ when you zoom in.  I believe that is for close to 100m but I would need to check to make completely sure.  If you were in dot sight mode on anything though you shouldnt of had any issues with hitting him.  I generally dont have any issues with types of ammo.  When I shoot ppl they tend to die if I aim correctly, but there is desync in arma.  I know for a fact that I put half a mag in a guy today playing king of the hill and he turned on me and one shot me.  It happens.  Hey how about that Ive played damn near 1300 hrs as well :P

  17. I'm not saying that you're lying, dude - chill. But as mentioned in the link, the Hellcat is removed from Epoch until balancing is sorted (thermal properly disabled). Your server host might've decided to keep the Hellcat in, but you won't find the heli on a server running "default epoch settings" or w/e to call it.

     

    Turns out after I saw it the other day there was a unscheduled server restart.  My buddy was flying the hellcat and landed it before the restart occured and when they got back in it had disappeared.  So it is no longer available (as far as we know) on badgers den 2.  And I wasn't getting angry just putting it out there that I have no reason to lie about it you know.  Its to bad about the hellcat that we had though, had quite a bit of gear in it when it disappeared.

  18. Yes it was badgers den 2.  Its on the server list for epoch.  I dont play on unofficial servers.

     

    Edit: Also I know it was on the server after the .2 update.  I just got back on it earlier and I still had my repair truck I had found shortly after leaving the area we stashed the heli.  And I wouldn't bring it up if it wasn't true.  Whats the point of me lying?

So basically you're wanting to track the degradation of all the weapons on the whole server and modify them on a consistent basis as they are used.  Just doesnt seem a smart use of resources.  Also true about the gun continuing on in the server.  However, I would like to know how my whole body disappeared last night within seconds of dying it seems.  Damage was self inflicted but it was irksome (and not on topic).  Anyway with guns getting tracked I just dont see the point of it. In my OPINION I just see to many negatives to attempt this whole scheme.  But alas the decision does not involve with me :P

  20. Skafsgaard, I know for a fact it was in around 4 days ago on Badgers Den 2. (it is an official server)  Now it is gone from the place we had it so it could have been changed recently but up until then (at least on that server) I know the hellcat was still in.  As far as now I have no evidence to support that it is still in so it very well may have been taken out.
