  1. You can set up vehicles that can tow specific items via the R3F tow/lift/cargo script , in the Addons Config folder, in Epoch Objects, just edit out any vehicle you don't want to tow, lift, or load cargo. Adjust the "weight" of the bikes to match with any truck/suv you want to carry them, and there you go.

This also works well to adjust what vehicles can tow, just edit out everything but the Urals, V3S's or Hummers (or whatever you'd like) to make it more interesting for players.

That topic and the plethora of others will answer any specific questions you might have on further adjustments of the script.

  2. My friend and I have debated the ability to code some type of combo lock hacker. Kind of like the hotwire tool, it would essentially run a random attempt at "hacking" the combination lock for doors so you could raid a base (and perhaps even safes), without blowing it to smithereens. Haven't gotten very far with it as yet, but its on the plate of stuff we're looking at trying to get working for our server.

If anyone has any ideas on it, or we get one working, we'll post it for all to use, and perhaps alleviate some of this type of problem.

  3. I've found that objects colliding with each other causes the most jumps. Its difficult to get a building placed with other objects in/around it without getting some movement when I save. Easiest thing I've found to do is to "float" the item way from each other by as small a margin as possible. It seems to keep the objects from jumping when I save even though it does look a bit odd when I place it on the server.

  4. I'm sorry you had such a terrible time with your experience with that particular server. It may be true for several of the servers and admins out there, but it is by far true of all of us. Like you, I was late to the DayZ party, having only downloaded the game six or seven months ago. But, with the combined efforts of a few friends, and more importantly a solid server to start out on (thanks Maca and the CCG team) myself and my group have started our own public server.

While we don't cater to the "bambi" player, we don't shun them either. Everyone gets a fair starting load out, with the exception of the admins, and the regular group members who get slightly modified load outs. This gives everyone a fair shake at looting the map without getting spanked by zeds or AI. Our missions range in difficulty from solo style light weight missions, to heavy duty team based. If you want to go it alone, you won't be left out of the fray.

What should have been done, in your instance, is to bring the problems to the admins who were adding the content to the server, and suggest they tone it down some. If they didn't want to listen, or completely pushed your opinions away, then you should stay on the server to at least keep a watch on it and help push the "bambi" players somewhere safer. Be that a completely different server, or just a base you've built on the map where you can dole out some weapons and give a few tips and tricks before they head off into the wild of DayZ themselves.

I've joined servers that seem to be geared to the extreme veteran player, where there are AI units spawning in every nook and cranny, and zeds that aggro from 200 meters away and are nearly impossible to shake. Those servers are never fun for rookie players, and should be advertised as such. I do wish there was a way to sort by "difficulty" rating, but sadly theres not, and its up to the admins to adjust their servers display name to hopefully show what a new player should expect.

  5. We have similar issues on our server. Been bug hunting for a few weeks now. Sometimes it'll fly in, sometimes you get stuck for about 5 minutes. Really annoying. We know its not a map issue, and there's not much in the RPT that screams "fix me". If we happen across anything that solves our issue, we'll let you know. Also keeping tabs on this topic to see if anyone else throws up a suggestion.
