Windows Root Server for Dayz Epoch

Hey,

i would like to rent a rootserver for dayz epoch.

i currently have a windows vserver with TS3 and a Mailserver on it. paying 10€ per month

in addition i have a dayz gameserver paying 21€ per month

 

I found 2 pretty cheap windows root server and would like to know from you guys if any of them could handle dayz+ts3+mailserver+maybe a website.

Dont go with server4you, because they have really bad routing and it will lag on primetimes...

 

Trust me, we had server4you for 1 month and it was a really bad experience.

And what about specs? what should i go for when considering what i want to do with it?

 

 

Is maybe a vserver an option? the XL Windows from webtropia looks ok i guess!?

I don't know about the quality of their network, but i can at least tell you that a dual core 1.8GHZ is not going to give you a smooth running server. I think the same goes for the quad 2.3GHZ.

 

Look at least for a cpu with 3GHZ+, quad or more would be best.

 

Memory isn't the biggest problem, 8GB should be enough for one server.

 

Those servers you mentioned have a HDD 5400RPM 8MB, those are pretty 'old' disks if you ask me. For max performance go for SSD!

 

 

Virtual servers are basically the same as a preconfigured epoch server bought at a game server provider. You share a big dedicated server with other people, the only difference would be that you have your own OS to configure to your own needs. A dedicated server however, is completely yours. Hence the reason why a virtual server is much cheaper than a dedicated one :)

The only reason we want to move away from gameserver hosts and rent a root is because the buggy time in dayz/epoch.

We run static, 16:00 (4pm) with 6 hours restart. but night only works from time to time and if ou relog its day again. so we would like to have nigh and day switches after server restart (i.e. 3 hours day / 3 hours night) and thats not possible at gameserverhosts afaik. Performance wise our gameserverhoster is great.
