BetterDeadThanZed
The real question is what are they going to do if someone is found breaking the rules? That's not addressed on that page. Also, doesn't appear this applies to Arma 2? Odd. Uro and KPABATOK
Richie
Also, doesn't appear this applies to Arma 2? Odd. It applies to all BIS games, including TOH, TOM,CC and Dayz SA, it even mentions an ArmA 2 exception data released under DML-SA is available for Arma 2 only which means it cannot be used on Arma 3 monetized servers. IIIBYRDIII
"Charging players to access your server, if the fees and associated perks do not affect gameplay in any way, is allowed. Cosmetic perks are allowed. Limiting access to only paying players is allowed. Product placement, in-game advertising and sponsorship is allowed. Selling of in-game items, that don’t affect gameplay, is allowed. Accepting donations is allowed, but to avoid any doubts: not providing donations must not prevent anyone from accessing the content." to sum it up, you may do anything you want as far as money/donations/charging for slots/paid for perks as long as everything that you can pay for is accessible in the game. Now if you make a certain item "Paid for only" then you can be flagged by Bohemia, otherwise they are allowing it as of now.
nickstoyaa
im still slightly confused? for example if you pay to have a littlebird spawn at your base every reset is that something that is allowed in A3? Because that vehicle can still be obtained without donation?
Richie
If you were playing vanilla ArmA 3 and the server is registered for the monetization, yes. If it's in Epoch then no, you're breaking Epochs terms and monetization is not permitted. KPABATOK
BenR
How does spawning a littlebird break epoch terms?
axeman
Regardless of Epoch permission, spawning a vehicle in is game changing, surely not allowed? How it is worded, even if you extended the perk so everybody on the server received the vehicle, making it fairer, it is still game changing. Richie
How does spawning a littlebird break epoch terms? Because it's a donation perk, you wouldn't ask in a monetization thread if you planned to give it away. Epoch forbid donation perks, doesn't matter if it's a littlebird or a FAK, you're not allowed to sell items when the server is running Epoch, you can't monetize an Epoch server. Brez
How does spawning a littlebird break epoch terms? You may want to clarify it a bit further as it is assumed you are paying "REAL MONEY" for that item unless you are and you failed to indicate that. If you are getting it spawned in to replace one lost in a glitch and are not paying ANYTHING.. it's allowed. Donations (AKA.. Paying REAL-MONEY) for IN-GAME perks such as gear or vehicles is no longer allowed. Can't make it any clearer than that.
boomstick
This is great but what is happening to the servers that breach this policy? I know for a fact some have been reported to BIS but nothing happens. They just get slapped on the wrist with some wet soggy cauliflower.
Monk
While lengthy this is certainly worth the read; http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?188238-Arma-3-Server-monetization With regards to punishing servers that breach the policy, the idea boils down to this: If a server is on the "Approved Lists" and is found to be in breach of the monetization policy/agreement then BI are in a position to pursue things legally if they see fit. One thing that became apparent with the whole A3L debacle was that when BI were pushed on the matter of content makers rights we were shown how feckless the current system is from a "real life" standpoint. However this "approved monetization" thing seems equally as bad as it relies on servers consenting/applying for a license to monetize and in turn be punished for breaking it. Whereas for the unapproved server who continues to monetize not much seems to have changed. :( Richie and boomstick
