character_data cleanup - except for character id's found in object_data?

Anyone have this? My character data has ballooned and I'm trying to get it cleaned up.

 

Will I lose the objects assigned to the character data if I just delete them where alive=0?

I dont't think it matters, but there might be no point in deleting dead characters to soon because the "alive" field is indexed so there is no gain in performance just less space needed for backups maybe.
