Server Debug FPS

Firefly

Question

Not saying there is an issue with Epoch but has anyone noticed a performance loss since last update. I am just trying to rule out the mod itself although I am pretty sure the issue is with the server provider.

Currently with noone on the server I have:

23:55:08 "DEBUG FPS : 7.58294"

I am running:

  • R3F Logistics Tow & Lift working 100% no issue or error reports
  • Refuel & Repair script simple script works well
  • Krixes blood bag, the usual
  • Sarge AI

Sarge's AI is currently running 2 static infantry groups and 4 helicopters. I believe that is less than the default config. If I remove Sarges AI the server posts around 30FPS or less without players on. One player brings that down to 20-24, 2 down further, with two players on and no AI it is running around about 18. Anything less than 10 and you notice performance impacts. Less than or around 5 you get vehicle teleporting, glitching and being thrown out of vehicles randomly as well as the usual issues.

Before the provider migrated the server at the weekend the old server had a standard FPS of over 49FPS and with Sarge was fairly consistently running in the high 20's. This was with 1.0.2, I only noticed drops like I have now with a full AI battle going and around 14 groups in one area plus all the statics. Although the server did suffer frequent de-sync which I believe the last Epoch patch fixed.

Not posting any errors at the moment other than the usual zombie ones, skeleton errors, a couple of the Epoch added skins are still broken and what I believe are weapon position errors. None of which should cause issues.

This does not seem to be a DayZ Epoch problem, as you mentioned in your post...

The reason Sarge AI induces lag is due to the fact that you have to run all the computations for the AI system on the server itself, which is quite hefty when dealing with multiple groups and players. This is why popular Arma 2 servers use Headless Clients.

As for your server host migration, can't really do much about that. You have to submit a ticket and see if they can give you values for your basic.cfg or if they could set it up based on their new servers.
